[POLL] 2 things i would really love to see them added to GW2

Hi all,
 
I hope Anet Team see this and consider it in GW2:
 
1. i would really really love to see a faster run speed, in this i mean some kind of sprint, it would be really nice to have the charr running on 4 legs when let's say i press "Shift", i would love it to be Hold Shift to run/sprint, it can be implemented to all races even if it used the dodge Resource or not, Active running is always nice it makes me feel the freedom in moving with my character.
 
2. I would love to see Hold Skill to Block, not active block like Tera, but the warrior and guardian have shield skills that lets them Block incoming attacks (channel skill as we call it), i would love to hold this skill in order to Block, " as long as i hold as long  i Block or till the channel ends" this will make blocking much more fun, and the shield using will be great.
 

Please let's keep the discussion about these 2 Ideas Only in this post  :) .

    Well, yeah, if you're doing action combat, do action combat. Sprint, block, dodge, and better yet, no tab-target. Do proper action combat, and make the skills / abilities secondary. And make character "progression" more of a personal thing so that player's combat "skill" will take the cake. Make it MMMOFPS / MMOTPS.

    Otherwise, WOW is as much "action" as I can take in an RPG. Or better, even slower... say, Rift. 

    Guild Wars 2 combat flows well, but it's sort of neither here nor there. Me, if I were its developers, I'd tip it towards full action. Especially with their perspective of level scaling and gear not being king.

  • I don't see sprint happening because it would negatively impact the skills that already provide a run speed boost.  Why have those if you can just sprint?

    I do like the idea of having a different avoidance option like block instead of dodge.  Same effect as dodge but without the movement.

    I dunno bout sprinting but i agree on blocking. It'll make melee playstyle more viable in WvW

    No, i don't think they do as i did try it with my Guardian, i did just tap the skill and it went into full channel.
     
    Please correct me if am wrong tho.

    Well, OK. It's just that those are natural features of action combat to me. And I think any move towards action combat would be beneficial to GW2.

    But if you're not going back with action combat, then no, I'd rather them not implement these two. I'd even rather they ditch dodge, in that case.

    Yes, Exactly Hold to block but if i stop holding or i don't hold, it will stop .

    sorry anet dont ever gonna put somthing like that and its fact ,all profetion have a skill or build to run speed if u wanna use it its up to you, and as far the movement im really not complain about it its normal and ihave option to buff speed if iwant it whit every profetion

    Endurance was used for Sprinting in an earlier build of the game. They changed that to the Dodge we have now. I don't see sprinting working in the game properly with the speed boosting skills, what would happen with them? Besides, characters are already fast enough, if they simply add a "walk" toggle that would make our current speed somewhat of a "Sprint". Will Sprinting use the Endurance we have now or a different bar? Or will it be without consequences? (that would be bad)

    For blocking, Warriors have Shield Stance and Guardians Shield of Absorption they both last for a duration and block attacks while active. There is already enough avoidance with dodge and Aegis I don't think adding some more would be possible, especially a separate "Hold Skill" for those with shields. We already have block skills with their proper cooldowns, a "hold skill" without any would've been unbalanced and is not needed imo

    Block the trolls, don't answer them, so we can remove the garbage from these forums

    1 the ability to display your name to other players in WvW
    2 changing the server shuffle rules so that it only happens when there is severe imbalance, not as a matter of course.

    No, because both block and sprint are already in the game in other forms. Sprint is represented by speed buff that many spells have. And block is Aegis boon or few shield skills and some spells. Adding additional blocking and sprinting is no good.

    Without a cooldown it's pointless to even consider something like this. And we already have skills that block (give Aegis) and then enter cooldown.

    For the Sprint i could say it might be True, but there's allways somthing that can be done.

    as for the block, they can use the same skills but make them a holding skills, and when the channel is over it will stop the blocking even if u hold.

    I like the block suggestion. The more twitchbased the combat becomes, the better for me :p The sprinting probably interferes too much with the current speedboost skills. You just can't see that seperate from combat.

    Yes, now you got my meaning.

    all the Idea here is the feeling, i mean look at how wow and rift targeting system dosn't allow u to Hit ur skill unless u have a target, while GW2 dose, i mean it makes me feel much better when i can just swing my sword any time i like, just set 3 mobs infront of me and i press the skill it hits the 3 of them, this makes me much more into the combat than i would in wow,

    these small things can make us feel much better while playing.

    but again let's stay away from the action combat subject hehe.

    Blocking features already in place for warrior and ranger.

    Warrior : Shield Stance
    Ranger: Counterattack > Crippling Throw

    Although I would like to see some improvements on the ranger's pet AI.

    There are buffs for sprinting, use them when you are traveling long distance. And adding the ability to hold down a button and block for a long period of time would be completely overpowered. There are already shield skills you can use. While I do think shield kind of lack the defensive capabilities that they should bring, from a balance stand point, being able to 100% block attacks would be ridiculous.

    I think the only thing I would like to see is more off-hand abilities. Maybe allow a player to focus more on the primary or off-hand. giving 3 off hand skills and 2 main hand. I don't feel there is enough diversity at times when playing Guardian. Then again, I haven't played all that long, so hopefully the current abilities will grow on me some :)

    please read it better, no one said long time or OP stuff, the CD will stay the same and the channel time is the same , if u can block now for 2 sec the only difference, is that u will have to hold the skill for 2sec and when it's done the block will stop and go into CD.

    I'd argue that sprint and block are already in the game, just not delivered in the way you would like.

    Being able to increase my and my team's movement speed every certain amount of time with skills is a form of sprint.

    Many weapons have an absorb next attack and counter attack skill, or reflect projectiles form of blocking mechanism.

     

    I don't see the addition of another seperate sprint mechanic and/or a dedicated blocking ability on top of what is already in the game as meaningful or necessary.
