There are several different types of zombies in Kingsmouth alone. While I'm not going to sit here and say this has the most versatile selection of monster types I wouldn't really say they're the same.

If any mob type is really repetitive in this game it is the draug that are used. Because they're in all three zones and have no different characteristics at all outside differing names. Then again they aren't even around outside of Solomon.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

Honestly i think the animation problem is restricted to a few schools of combat and a few skills within them.  There are odd looking animations, its just you can have a build that doesnt include them..seems to be mostly in the magic schools imo.

My pistol/shotgun build has great animations, as does my assualt rifle and blood magic...however theres a few skills in there that look goofy...

Had this been a game made by someone else other than funcom i dont think anyone would care honestly, since the mechanics and content are so fun.

I've watched my share of this game on Twitch TV.   I think the combat needs a lot of work and the animations as well.   You and others may think they are OK, but in my opinion, for a game released in 2012 - they are lacking and un-inspired.   Plus the MOBS, need some serious work - and why do they just cut and paste the same mobs all over Kingsmouth?  I call that lazy.   I'll play the game when it is finished or at least when it is better than it is now - maybe.    Depends on what I am playing in the future and if I'll even care then.  ::shrugs::

Well if you were playing you would know why the mobs in kingsmouth were zombie townies. This isnt a game where your going to have 100 diffrent random mob types pepperd across the world with a kill/drop quest for each type.  The game has specific mobs in specific areas for a reason.

Yeah i agree that combat is a very objective subject, whats appealing in a game for some and whats fun for some might not be for others.  Ive played some games with some incredibly boring and uninspired combat, oddly enough no one complained for those games.

I just think the combat mechanics are underrated in this game, given most who dont play hate the mechanics.  Yeah the animations are not over the top flashy, and i guess that makes character animations in combat more visable which probably doesnt help....but like i said, there are some animations that do need work, some are absolutely fine...i dont need a multi colord flash when i draw out my shotgun with one hand and fire a blast.  Or all sorts of sparkles and colors when i cross my pistols and go into automatic fire mode.  The elementalism i think is the worst in the animation department, and thats what i usually see on twitch.

It is the same sets of zombies.   It's like they cut and pasted the same set over and over again.  Plus they always attack the same way.   They need to change this up a lot.   If the combat is to repetaive and the MOB's are as they are - it makes it feel un-inspired.   The same way I  felt when beta testing SWTOR.    They just need to change the AI's up a bit and put in some other zombie models scattered about the place.   I don't think that is too much of a request.

I mean i get what your saying, theres a set of townie zombies in the town part, all wearing simialir stuff, but thats just the townies, theres a lot more than them in kingsmouth...and i realize that often twich focuses on one area, ive see a lot of people doing quests just in that immediate area outside the police station...theres a lot of those zombies so i can agree that when you have so many of one type it does look a bit lame.  They could stand to add a few more outfits and it would go a long way.  It stand out much more in that area since there are a TON of those zombies all in multi packs.

That issue isnt limited to the townies, theres a lot of mobs that are lore specific and look the same no matter where you see them, its just the way they chose to present it all.  Theres a lot of diffrent types of mobs but mobs within the same type are the same, windingos are windingos, draugs (only spelled correctly) are all the same set of looks based on their attack...

But yeah i wouldnt get too hung up on the zombies in kingsmouth, the zombies look different based on their location..the ones in innmouth academy are students and teachers dressed appropriately, the egypt zombies look like people from the area ect.

If you want a buddy key PM me, twitch tv doesnt do the game justice, expecially if your someone who can get deep within a story and an ambience.  If your looking for an action mmorpg theres a much better game for that comming out soon that would fit the bill better though.

If you dont get into this games world and story there really isnt a point to playing it i guess, sadly the story doesnt take off untill you get more into the game.

Never thought i would say it.... Funcom really deserves some respect.

Well the other mmorpgs are not new anymore to you, so after you get sick of tsw and replace it with a newer shinier game, tsw will be the boring one.

IMO, that's because players dedicate themselves to only 1 game without ever taking a break. Seriously, i can't do it myself. I need to play other genres to expand of the flavour and time.

    Maybe, maybe not.

I didn't follow SW:TOR much until it was released. Watched a few Youtube vids and read up some on the various fansites. When I eventually got to login to the game in February, I didn't say: "Wow, this is great !"

I never followed TSW much either. In fact, up to the beta weekend, I didn't even find the game interesting. But when I first got to Kingsmouth, I said: "Wow, now THIS is great !". I'm still saying it image

I don't have to be massively impressed by a game to play it for a few months. But every now and then, one comes along that really works for me. I can tell the difference between "new and shiney" and "new and shiney AND good".

The "zombies" in Egypt aren't technically zombies, they are more your crazies / 28 days later thing.

We get it. You like complaining about mmo's not playing them.

Your missing the best game to release this year so far. That's your loss.

This. All I hear these days is *nag nag nag* (didn't play the game) *nag nag nag*

Then one of them tries the damn game and are hooked. I mean, what MMO in the past few years had this much quality content at launch? I hear them complaining about combat, but which games actually had better combat?

I think people complaining about combat are basing it off YouTube videos or their inability to make a coherent 7 active 7 passive build. This game has better combat than Rift and Star Wars combined. But the best part is making crazy combos with your skills just like a Magic: The Gathering deck.

Anyway. I think Funcom also mis-marketed the game a bit, Kingsmouth has gotten 90% of the coverage, and frankly, if all I ever got to see was Kingsmouth content I wouldn't be very excited either. Doesn't help that "reviewers" don't bother playing past Kingsmouth either.
