#1 Guild Wars sold out on digital sales prompting them to suspend temporarily the sale of DS
#2 Pre-orders of Guild Wars have surpassed 1 mil passing Aion for pre orders and we still have one month
to go.
#3 Anet predicts Guild Wars 2 will sell 3.1 Mil by August 2012
#4 (and probably the main reason why Guild Wars 2 doesn't need you)
Guild Wars 1 sold 6.5 mil copies as of 2010 therefore the fanbase for GW is already
healthy and thriving and most will carry over to GW2.
On all three forums here, GuildWarsguru, and Guild Wars 2 official forums there seems to be alot
of whining about certain things that can't seem to entice certain players go play GW2. Mainly it's elitists that
don't like the downed state because boohoo they didn't get the kill because they survived and got rezzed by a zerg
or wow and SWTOR players that just cant stomach the fact that GW2 has no raiding. To tell you the truth a GW1 player
will tell you that they probably don't want you around anyways and that maybe you should just stick to your other MMO. It seems too me that the only people that are on the fence about this game are the ones who did not like GW1 or did not play GW1 and are just not sold on GW2 so my advice to you is dont buy it..it's not for you.

I don't rabidly defend GW2 anymore. Not because I don't like the game - I'm a huge fan. I just don't feel threatened every time someone says the game isn't for them. Here's a shocker - GW2 isn't for everybody and that's ok!
The newest game is this: toss out the GW2 hate and watch the fans rush to bite it. Hook, like and sinker! It's pretty funny when you think about it. I just don't bite anymore and fans should stop making fishing so fun for them.

I agree, this is a terrible fanboy post.
I'm a fan of GW1+2, but I don't defend it religously. I know there are some problems with it and I understand why some people arn't turned on by it. I'll likely play it for a long time. But I definately don't think it's MY game or care who wants to play it. The more the merrier I say, but I'll still be pretty merry either way.
I care more about what type of Papa John's pizza I'm going to be buying tonight than I do about all this GW2 forum PvP.

Same here. I'll play GW2 a lot and have a lot of fun doing it. I already preordered and did beta.
No, it's not the perfect game and I know there'll be quite some annoying features that i won't particularly like, I can already make a list. Which doesn't mean it won't be very enjoyable nevertheless. That's the thing, it's not either 0/10 or 10/10.

NO ... he is not your average Gw2 Fan , stop blaming the many for the actions of the few. The majority of us are rational members of this community who are excited about the game, don't want it bad mouthed ( Like EVERY OTHER Mmo to launch ) but generally are receptive and even agree with criticism.

we dont need gw2 either, all of us knows gw2 wont fail because of prepurchase instead of preorder, peoplea re stuck even if they want to cancel, very few will actually go through huge hassle it takes to cancel such prepurchase

The thing is, its the very vocal minority that posts on every single thread. While it might be the mayority of the Gw2 community that feels as the Op does, the fact that ppl like hte OP are spreading like wild fire across this forum makes the GW2 community as a whole look really bad.
At least with a sub game they know that people won't tolerate bullshit and leave. With anet we have no recourse but to buy our own lube so our assholes don't get too stretched out from getting bent over a table at Anets will. - Hrimnir

Multiple points by multiple people to cover, but I'll start here.
First off, no one was forced to prepurchase. If you felt you HAD to just to get into the beta, that's your own fault. Especialy since between the three BWEs something like a half million keys were handed out free.
Second, you could, and many people did, pre-order.
Third, Anet has honored refunds if requested. I've seen a post or two on it. And I checked the process just in case I changed my mind about the game (esp since I bought two copies). It's not that complex.
Fourth. Casual grindfest? To each his own friend, but this is the least grindy MMO I've ever played. It has the same grind as WoW, Aion, Tera, TSW.....you name it. But the games' design hides it well. Focuses you on enjoying the scenery and the combat and the story (yes, the cheesy stereotypical high fantasy story), instead of thinking "I need to kill ten rats here, then I have to go to the next hub and kill 60 boars, and look for sparkly whatsits on the ground, I need 20 of those.."
I'm guessing you are either a fan of open world pvp-based games or raiding based games. And if you are, that's fine. Your choice of game is no better than mine, nor worse.. I won't insult yours, so be civil about mine. Thank you.

I played GW1 back in the day. I have pre purchased GW2 and played in all the BWE's and stress tests. I am greatly looking forward to the game, however... I feel the need to correct/edit some of your statements:
#1 GW2 was not sold out (you can't run out of digital copies). They suspended sales before BWE1 cause they were nearing their max capacity (which is a good thing) for the first BWE. As soon as BWE1 was over, they started selling GW2 again and have not stopped since then.
#2. True.
#3. True. However, that is just a prediction and it is for worldwide, not just NA.
#4. Anet did sell 6.5 million copies of GW1 (including expansions), however, that does not mean that there are 6.5 mil different GW1 players; all it means is the number of copies that were sold. I myself have purchased several copies.
Overall, gw1228, you come accross as a jack *ss and you are giving us GW2 players a bad name; in other words you're doing more harm than any good. It's true that we don't want haters and trolls playing with us in GW2, but that does not mean that GW2 does not need people to try out the game and see if they like it.
If you're gonna continue gw1228, please change your name and tell people that you play some other game. Thanks!

You cannot speak for those that are developing this game. They want as many people as possible trying their game, now if they decide to stay is entirely on them.....lol

Yeah you're right. It's just been one of those days. Every non jokey thread I've been on today has had atleast one or two condescending GW2 fans talking down to people. It's very annoying. Sometimes I get the feeling that it isn't a minority.
A few months ago I was watching a GW2 Yogscast vid on Youtube. I politely and eloquently stated a problem I had with the game and I literally received 100 messages in my inbox telling me how stupid I was. I've never encountered that extent hatred before just because I had an opinion on part of the game I didn't like.
It's not limited to GW2 related content either, you can go through these boards and find many people exclaiming how good GW2 is in threads that are not related at all. The same with videos on Youtube.
They're giving you guys who like it a real bad name.
