If you think theres no community then either quit or trying talking to people, ive made 7 friends so far on our permanant server.  In fact 3 of us who dont know each other from a hole in the ground are taking a dinner break as we speak and will pick back up at 9, running DE's together.

IMO GW2 is the best community fostering MMO to come out since the first generation of MMO's.

I bet you can't even see the irony in your own post.

    --On Topic--

I like the game, I'm glad I bought it. I'll have fun playing it with IRL friends.

But I'm not canceling my Rift sub for it.

First off the launch.  A little laggy but I feel the best launch of a huge MMO is my history or at least that I have been apart of.  The lag got taken care of very quickly, overflow areas instead of server wait queues have been awesome overall 9/10 on launch.

Gameplay is where it starts to go downhill for me.  I know people will say if you like the same old crap then go play Wow.  I don't have a problem with the gameplay or the dynamic events or the pvp other then I feel they are slow and pretty boring.  Sure dynamic events are cool you have 20 or 30 or 40 people hacking away at the same huge mob but really it's just chaos.  I have never once had any social interaction with a Dynamic Event group it is just tons of random people doing their own thing.  That does not count as a strong community for me.  Movement speed and combat seems to be kind of slow and boring, I have 6 classes I have tried(bought a extra char slot) and so far every one is pretty much turn on auto attack and hit whatever is not on cooldown.  WvWvW pvp seems to have much of the same social problems that Dynamic events do.

Don't get me wrong I do enjoy the game and will continue to play it on a part time level since there is no sub fee for it but unless you are young or a this is your first MMO(which this would be a great game if you never have played a MMO before) I just don't see how this could be a everyday game.

Yes I know this is day 1 and I have not gotten to a lot of continent and I'm not going to give up on it, it could get better but right now its maybe 7/10.

I really think its far to early to start making any kind of opinions on the community of a game that dident exist yesterday. Yes right now its really really random but a few weeks down the line i think we will see some development.

First of all I want to say that I love the game so far. Only level 11 atm so I have not seen much but I too am waiting for the time when I have to form a groups and do things. Around what level does this happen?

And then when you get to dungeons, you try and use a zerg strategy and you'll be there all night.

It's only been less than a day since launch, give it time to have the mass rush settle down.

I agree with your thoughts. One of the main problems I have is that you don't play this game in groups it is just a bunch of solo players running around. So it just feels like you are playing with NPC's. It is the same as doing Rifts, in Rift. That is why I stopped playing.  It just feels like a single player game because there is no inetaction with other players and there doesn't ever need to be. I like playing groups and chatting, this will never happen in GW2 other than dungeons.

I think some players actually like features like dynamic events, rifts and public quests. Typically someone that normally always solo in other MMO:s will like it. Because for them it will be more social interaction compared to other games. They can play with others but it also feels like playing solo in some ways. People that solo most of the time are very common today in most MMO:s. So I dont think it is a bad idea if the company wants to target that type of player.

Of course people that like to be forced to chat with others and create groups will not like it. But perhaps they are a minority. At least if we talk about GW2 players.

I figured the world map areas would get harder later and people would group up. Dont tell me people only group up for dungeon runs.

Oh no no no no no.

My guildies who are 20+ already are all playing together whenever they arne't doing their personal story.  But sometimes they tag along with one of the others stories.  Other than dungeons, PvP and the "end game" area of Orr, Shatterer like DEs....nothing really forces you to group up.

I read that there are DEs that require a certain number of players in the vicinity to activate though.  Not sure how many there are in each area.

Yup i think the majority of people will love being able to do group quests without grouping up. I don't like it but I think it was a good move by Anet because most people will like it

I take what feedback people give about a game and decide if it is for me.  I find it very helpful in deternining a game that I will like or not like.  Good, bad, neutral its all helpful.  Just because the OP has some issues with the game doesnt mean you have to throw a fit like a spoiled child.  Grow up.  I have heard one too many times this game is more of the same, and it isnt a full time MMO.

These are forums -- people are going to post their opinions and it does serve a purpose. The purpose is to create (hopefully) constructive discussion. Feel free to disagree with other users' opinions and offer your own, but let's try and stay constructive and not tell people to "quit" or to stop posting their opinion.

    Thanks!

TSW a 10/10? Is this some joke? That game had more flaws than the titanic.

Anyway, the game just launched so there are some minor problems with the server (lag, disconnects, etc.) but the gameplay so far has been the best I've seen in a mmo since...well.. ever.

Sometimes the events can be chaotic but most of the times they require teamwork and group play, something that other mmo's lack completely.

I had a nice chuckle at that myself.  :)

But opinions are just that.  There are people who still play FFXIV and enjoy it immensely.  In fact, I still have an active account that I enjoy logging into to stockpile more gil for when 2.0 is out.

I'm a gamer first before a fan of anything. I know good games when I play them.

At this moment I feel TSW is the better mmorpg, but not by much. GW2's core systems are more polished and the PvP is much more robust, but the lack of a cohesive game world really sticks out to me.

Regardless TSW and GW2 are the best games to come out in years imo. If you love mmos these a great times. You  honestly can't go wrong with either game. They are different enough in what they offer to enjoy both without a feeling of redundancy.

    Huh?

The world is seamless and continuous and quite cohesive.  I see cities, their surrounding towns, villages, farms, all in a very organic, believable array.  It's much more cohesive to me than TSW, with its disjointed areas (not a knock, per se, just how it is when you are in three very different parts of the planet).  The "feel" of GW2 is much more organic, seamless and cohesive to me than TSW.

You stated it quite well "Huh?"

The world is zoned, it's not seamless. What game are you playing?

OP-Here is what I saw on one Dynamic Event. Players not continuing to follow NPC's after said DE. Example...

Shaermoor Garrison on the Human side. In  the garrison there is a captian who start the DE if you speak to him. You have to escort this captain to so he can collect weapons from a hidden cache.

One the DE starts the orange circle appears around him and soon 20+ players are escorting killing mobs that come along. When teh captain gets to the cache he thanks everyone for their help, they get their XP and the orange sheidl above his head and on the map vanishes as if it is over. Everyone went back to doing what they were doing or venturing off in another direction.

If you watch the NPC the captain grabs the cache and heads back to the garrison. There is no DE it is over but if you follow him back which only one other player did along with myself, the captain makes it back to the garrison and turns into a vendor which you can buy weapons from. He stays a vendor for some time then goes back to being a normal NPC until the next round of timed and random DE's start.

What happned ot the 20+ players? If you follow NPC around during DE's or after or before then you are in for a treat. DE's can be chains. They can progress forward if players help or they can go backwards and change the game world until players re-engage to move it forward to its conculsion.

I would spend a bit more time in game. I think you will find a welcome sight.

Now just to be fair this game is not bad, I just don't get the overwhelming hype. I will keep playing very casually and look forward to get to some dungeons, that will make or break the game for me.

TSW was a much better experiance for me, I was blown away by how much fun that game was. I have had no such feeling at all with GW2. So I will keep playing TSW as my main game and just dabble in GW2 which is cool too

I agree with it being just a big zergfest, but really, did anyone think that being 100% classless and everyone having the ability to chain-rez was a good idea? That's not beating a dungeon through skill, heck it's not even really beating it. "Yay! We took out the Shatterer!!!! I was only rezed 14 times!!!"... Bleh

Right now my biggest issue with the game is the characters feel 'floaty' when moving about the map. Its like you don't turn from under the character, more like your character pivots from an invisable arm a few inches behind them. The other issue is the cutscenes - they remind me of Romance of The Three Kingdoms they way they are presented. Also the acting is a bit bad - its like instead of hiring voice actors they just handed out the script to office mates and had them read. Some of the actors just sound bored when its a dramatic scene.

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

Pretty much my thoughts as well. Even with the fact its 'for realzy' this time, I couldn't manage playing for more then a few hours at a time, this coming from a guy who speed grinds to max level in other games for expansions or just general releases if plausible. Its fun but at the same time not all that inspiring. Not having questing and having it more 'dynmaic' of sorts makes me feel actually less wanting to do it, only making it worst by the fact pvp doesn't really matter what I do unless its for WvWvW.

Its not bad but I just can't spend long periods of time playing it, even if I wanted to. I was worried about draining out content quick due to its ultra casual focus, but the game itself seems to control me on that end.

Glad that its b2p, because I would un-sub straight.

its a good part time game for me and my bro, not attractive enough to warrant long hours or daily play.

uhh... no. TSW is nowhere near a 10/10. It's got great atmosphere and a decent story with voice acting, but the gameplay and content are severely lacking. I played it for 3 weeks off and on, and just couldn't log in any longer. It's really nothing special.

Anyway, I've never really gotten into the GW2 hype, and I'm hoping my lack of interest up until now will supply me with a great surprise. I'll go in around August 28th and see, but I am expecting exactly what the OP has said in this post. I see the videos and I just can't tell if it's overly fun or not just from watching.

I guess I'll know soon enough.

You must have never spent any time playing TSW. Everyone talks about wow and dynamic events ( Warhammer public quests is what they are with sprinkle of randomness  a.k.a Rift)  TSW is very original and was  flawless launch in my book.
