Is there some trial at the moment?

in Star Wars Galaxies
I really want to try it again, and maybe return to the game.
But I like to see what's changed first.
So my question, is there a free trial atm?

    Now is DEFINITELY NOT the time.....

    Trying out the game right now will not do much to convince you the direction the game is headed in. There is so much that they are changing over the next 2 months that the game you play today wont be anything like the game you see in june.

    There is a complete combat revamp going on right now that will completely change the way people fight in SWG. Also there will be a new expansion pack released at the same time.

    Now is not a good time to get back into it. I suggest going to the official forums and reading about what they are doing. It will give you a good idea as to whether or not you would want to return.

    I'm not sure if there's one right now, but I'm SURE there will be one (at least for old players) after the HUGE and MAJOR sweeping changes in the coming months (the CU).

    Checking it out now, might be misleading, cause soon, the game will be totally different.

    I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.

    But i'm not really interested in paying extra for an expansion..
    but ill look at the forums then, and wait..

    The CU is an update, not an expansion, and that is what is bringing the sweeping changes. Jump to lightspeed is the space expansion, and Rage of the Wookiees is the upcomming expansion that will include Kashyyk, the Wookiee homeworld.

    Neither are a required purchase to get the CU.

    The game IS fun now, but if you're on the fence about SWG, you will definitely want to wait til its the game it is going to become.

    Well, I loved the game before the CU.
    So I guess I still like the game as it is now..

    If that's true, then the state of the game now will make you very happy. The gcw actually means something again! So why not come back and get your character set up for the CU?

    Of course I tried googling, but they only show the Fileplanet trial, which has been runned out I guess. So I was asking if there was a different trial.

      Hello TheWarc, and welcome to the SWG forums. Not everyone here are negative people who are not even playing SWG.

     To answer your question, the last free trial for SWG, was a DVD disk included for free in a major computer magazine roughly 2 months ago. That magazine issue is now off the stands. ("Maximum PC"  magazine I think is the name of it.)
     I do have extra copies of the DVD I got through various connections. But I won't have any free time to send the free trial over the internet. (I once sent free trials of aC2 over the internet to a few online friends, and it worked. We used AIM an it took 4 hours for me to send the game, then I gave them the CD-Key code.)

     If you want, this is up to you... I could mail you the free trial DVD. Not to your house, but to your job, or a friend of yours job. Or if your in college, to the college you go to. It's in a black CD folder, with the CD-Key printed on back. It has the SWG game, and the JTL expansion all on one DVD.

     You'd need a computer that can play DVDs. (Or if yours doesn't, then temporarilly use one that does, then copy and burn the info onto CDs. I think zipped it'll take up 2-3 CDs. Unzipped it might take up 4-5 CDs.)

     

     It is very possible SWG will offer another new free trial in 2-4 months from now. So far SWG has had 3 free trial offers.

      - Free Gamespy download with CD-Key

      - Free CD in a major computer magazine with CD-Key.

      - Free DVD in a major comoputer magazine with CD-Key.

    and...

      - Email offer to former SWG old veteran players who had cancelled their accounts. All old veteran players got accounts re-activated for 1 month.
