ummm what? heh many games have been in MUCH worse shape a month after their release.. don't think you have played that many at launch.. heres the latest status update

TP has been more and more stable and considering how many people are hammering this thing at once its not really a shock it goes down.  Most everything I have had an issue with since launch has been fixed so far. Only annoying problem I'm having now is long que times for WvW heh.. oh forgot and the mat issue on the TP as well

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

Oh Aerowyn you sure do spend a lot of time doing all you can to defend GW2.  Shouldnt you be playing it?  Just because he thinks its not that great of a launch mean you can tell him he hasnt played that many?

just checking on the forums before bed if thats ok with you.. don't worry next time Ill PM you to make sure it's ok:)... either way many games were mostly unplayable for the first week of launch and for weeks afterwards.. many with game crashing bugs IE AO, AoC, WoW, SWG, and many others to say this games launch is worse than most every AAA games launch since EQ1 is just ridiculous

And as far as launch, it's comparison based. He can say it was a shitty launch, but he can't say this is the worst launch in a long time... Pretty sure TOR was worse, I played both, I found TOR unplayable due to certain qualities... and that had a subscription, so thus I wasn't getting my moneys worth. This game I paid one time and I'm satisfied, not like they haven't really been implementing and fixing these changes, since most are pretty polished out. TOR still hasn't fixed errors people found in betas and since the day I quit, which was about 6 months in, they never once fixed easy errors in their game... So hmm... Pretty sure this launch wasn't the worst by comparison, nor was it the best.

I agree GW2 is far from the worst launch, but at the same time its his opinion and he if free to express it, no need to call him a lier :).

Oh no need to let me know when you post.  Im sure i will see for myself :)

Did you even read his post? "none have been this bad for this long." Pretty sure thats not really opinion anymore. You can say a game had a shitty launch, that's opinion, stating that there hasn't been a bad launch in a long time... that's pure and utter BS.

    100% Agreed OP.

Though I beleive there's well over 50 things GW2 does better then pretty much anyone.

If WoW was released today even in its' entirety it would be f2p in 3 months.
Why is it still such a big deal?

    2. Exploration and down-leveling - And no. I DO know that this game is not free roam columbus style like Dark and Light or Star Wars Galaxies. It even has zoning. But it REWARDs people for exploring, not with crap, but with actual progression related stuff. And downleveling guarantees that no matter how epic you think you are, a level 5 drake CAN kill you. Love it.

    1. PvP/WvW. It's the best part of Warhammer reanimated. It's - for me - even DaoC again. Finally, after the idiocy of SWTOR, Warhammers late RR80 trains, after crashing sieges in AoC and ridiculous gear-one-shot battles in Aion. A game that captures the spirit of RvR again. With an uncompromising "No bullshit"-attitude, no heal-wars, no CC fest and a lot of utility for every class. Dodge, run, hide, cast while running. Perfect 10. I think I'll stay, just because "hop in and beat people up"-RvR is finally back and breathing. For me, after 10 years since DaoC.

Kudos A-Net. I haven't enjoyed myself as much since well before 2005.

While the game has good aspects, I don't think these last two are nearly as good as Vanguard and Dark Age, respectively. Vanguard has a wealth of things to find in the world, an open world without lines... there are STILL dungeons being found. You can find quests for spells and abilities...

And WvWvW is a very rough form of early RvR. Once they get relics, naval combat, and a Darkness Falls dungeon, then we can talk best RvR.

Sorry, I'm pretty sure I'm stating why this statement is a lie and backing up Aerowyn's claim with, here's a shocker, an example. *gasp* People use those anymore? I could just go and say, no, there were other shitty launchs recently... Then ended my statement there. Doesn't seem to have the kind of impact though does it? Hmmm..

A statement backing up your claim?  Ok "certain qualities" oh no explanation at all just two words that could mean anything. "TOR still hasn't fixed errors people found in Betas" again no explanation just blank statements.  So I would have to say your examples are not any better then what he said.  Nice try though.

When Asheron's Call 2 was launched we didnt have chat servers running for the first 2 months. Im pretty sure GW2 doesnt have that issue or anything that really compares to not having chat work at all. That was in 2002.

Anet should be ashamed for such blatant lying - there is nothing dynamic about running a triggerd script!!

So from this point forth I am calling them SEs

I am not sure you are playing GW2. There are alot of dynamic and sweeping changes that events have on the landscape.

I just hit 72 - so tell me a single event in GW2 where the entire zone gets taken over by an event and needs multiple groups in each part of the zone working together.....

There is nothing that even comes close to large epic Rift invasions in GW2, it's small crap where a portion of the map gets impacted for a short time before the scripted event gets triggered again 5 min later.

The thing is, the Rift events are the absolute epitome of zerg.  One of the (valid) complaints about GW2 is the zerg factor the DEs can take on.  However, there is still mch more for the individual person to do in a GW2 event than Rift.  You need to swap your weapons/skills effectively, you need to revive fallen people, avoiding damage is significantly more important in GW2 than Rift as well.   Its just far more active of a zerg.    And I havent seen the high level stuff, but The Shatterer is IMO cooler than any Rift invason boss (although SL may raise the stakes there)

I do believe that with some work GW2 can get up to DAoC levels of PvP, but not without realm ranks, relics, and the like. Those were a key part of DAoC RvR.

Exploration though... its world feels alive, but it also feels constrained and very limited.

In Rift there are periods when you can relax - lulls between rifts and invasions - this feels more natural. GW2 is non stop same scripted events that happen around the clock repeatedly - its way too forced and annoying.

Also Rifts invasions can encompass entire zones - needing multiple groups of players working in different areas of the zone simultaneously. GW2 scripted events happen in small concentrated areas

Just want to mention some facts (don't care about the rest of the back and forth between you guys):

    1. GW2 is not the worst launch in history

    2. TOR is not the worst launch in history

    3. In fact, if you look at other MMO launches, both TOR and GW2 (and also TSW and Rift) was actually relatively successful.

    4. AoC launch was far worse than all of these games.

    5. Pretty confident that Earthrise was the worst launch in the history of mmo. It's time from conception to abortion and demise was fully documented on MMORPG.com

LOL, I like your color scheme!

Anyway, the guy has tried this SE thing before. He finds himself clever I believe. Anyway, of course they are scripted events that are dynamic.

    3. In fact, if you look at other MMO launches, both TOR and GW2 (and also TSW) was actually relatively successful.

    4. AoC launch was far worse than all of these games.

    5. Pretty confident that Earthrise was the worst launch in the history of mmo. It's time from conception to abortion and demise was fully documented on MMORPG.com

    Anarchy Online called, it wins.

My first character I logged in after 90 minutes of timeouts and crashing. By the time my computer actually loaded the graphics (another 10 mintues) My character somehow autoran forward, fell in teh moat at Tir and died (it used to be toxic), respawned, did it again, respawned, And was just about to take a third dip when I stopped it. Then pronptly crashed again.

I am not saying anything bad about the game just saying i suck enough and get to frustrated when i do not even have a chance unless it was some kind of bug but anyway pissed me off enought to quit.

I do hope this games sticks around for the people that really love it because it does look like a nice game, just not for me. I guess i have to be honest and say world of warcraft is more my type of game. But hey each their own.

    Good Luck GW2

Wait.. GW2 levels you down sometimes? Isn't that one of the main reasons why people chose WOW over EQ1? I was really considering GW2, but not anymore. Downleveling is a major deal breaker for me.

To help you stay even further away from the game you scaled down all the time it's not a choice lol.

ummm what? heh many games have been in MUCH worse shape a month after their release.. don't think you have played that many at launch.. heres the latest status update

    http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_status_updates

TP has been more and more stable and considering how many people are hammering this thing at once its not really a shock it goes down.  Most everything I have had an issue with since launch has been fixed so far. Only annoying problem I'm having now is long que times for WvW heh.. oh forgot and the mat issue on the TP as well

Oh Aerowyn you sure do spend a lot of time doing all you can to defend GW2.  Shouldnt you be playing it?  Just because he thinks its not that great of a launch mean you can tell him he hasnt played that many?

Oh Gaborik you sure love to pick out random people to troll and bash, shouldn't you be staying on your own games forums instead of coming here to troll?

Just want to mention some facts (don't care about the rest of the back and forth between you guys):

    1. GW2 is not the worst launch in history

    2. TOR is not the worst launch in history

    3. In fact, if you look at other MMO launches, both TOR and GW2 (and also TSW) was actually relatively successful.

Never played Earthrise myself, but as for worst launch.... Even though I love the game to death, I still think it would be Anarchy Online. That game was just a pure mess for the first few months of its life.

As for GW2 I would have to say it would be on the #2 spot for decent launches. All the account issues and week long issues with some game features keeps it out of the top spot.

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

Did they fall in like this? hehe

Scaling just doesn't belong in RPGs, at all.

In GW2 dynamic events are a misnomer - they should be called SE's - scripted/static events - always happen in the same places have no impact on the world (some have minimal impact).

So from this point forth I am calling them SEs

In Rift there are periods when you can relax - lulls between rifts and invasions - this feels more natural. GW2 is non stop same scripted events that happen around the clock repeatedly - its way too forced and annoying.

Also Rifts invasions can encompass entire zones - needing multiple groups of players working in different areas of the zone simultaneously. GW2 scripted events happen in small concentrated areas

Anet should be ashamed for such blatant lying - there is nothing dynamic about running a triggerd script!!

    WTF?

LOL, I like your color scheme!

Anyway, the guy has tried this SE thing before. He finds himself clever I believe. Anyway, of course they are scripted events that are dynamic.

Is it even possible to make a game without scripts? I mean a lot of things he said made me say "What the fuck?" but it's the fact he bashed on a [video game] for having scripts.

    Also thanks ha ha

I'm going to say that it's number one thing that it does better than other games is draw in haters/ fanboys to THESE particular forums for whatever reason.  Some people can't accept that others really like this game just as well as others can't accept that others do not.  I don't think even SWTOR polarized MMORPG.com as much during it's prime of beta and launch.  Oh well this will die down eventually or until the next mmo release is out.  That or the zerg of usual suspects will go over to WoW's forum and rip apart pandas when that offiicially releases.
