Update 19 is out, with new pledge tiers available, offering an interesting choice of starting positions for backers. There is also currently 29 of the popular £20 tier available, don't miss out!
Udate 21 is out. Meet the team of Frontier Developments/Elite: Dangerous.
Something to point out for Mac & Linux users, if you pledge for the game you'll be able to download a copy for your prefered platform if it gets made, which depends on the success of the Windows version.
Quote from update 21
"Another item we get asked is about other platforms. especially Mac and Linux. This Kickstarter project is to create the Windows PC version. However we are a multi-platform company and do intend to look into other platforms after the first release. However we are aware that people who want a Mac or Linux version would like to support the Kickstarter. So, if you have pledged to receive a copy of the game and we later produce a Mac or Linux version, you can download a copy for those platforms. Note that we can't guarantee we'll develop a version for those platforms, but we do take them seriously and hope to support them."
Update 22 is out, with a Christmas message from David Braben:)
Less than £300,000 needed with 10 days to go, if you want to play an open world multiplayer space game now is the time to pledge and reap the benefits of being a backer, due March 2014.
The Elite: Dangerous Kickstarter campaign is closing in on £1million of the £1.25mil target with 8 days to go.
Frontier have released a stretch goal for a Mac version of the game. If the project reaches £1.4 million in pledges they will release the Mac version 3 months after the Windows version, in 2014.
I decided to give them a few bucks though i have very low expectations.
"Torquemada... do not implore him for compassion. Torquemada... do not beg him for forgiveness. Torquemada... do not ask him for mercy. Let's face it, you can't Torquemada anything!"
Update 28 is out, with some details about ship customization.
There's less that 4 days to go and the campaign is very close to reaching its goal, just £120,000 needed.
Elite: Dangerous will be a massive (that is an understatement) sandbox space sim enabling players to take on various roles, such as Trader or Bounty Hunter. Unlike an MMORPG there'll be no skills as such, instead your ship configuration will define what you can do.
It'll also offer multiplayer options (upto MMO scale) as well as single player.
If you want a game like this have a look at the Kickstarter page and consider making a pledge. The £80, £85, & £90 pledge tiers are well worth considering.
Three days left. They are at $1,144,296 of the desired $1, 250,000. This is going right down to the wire and regretfully they may well fall a few Euros short.
PS: I am kind of stumped as to why a game like this is having such a hard time exceeding all funding expectations. They desere a shot to make this happen in my opinion. C'mon! Pledge...
I think it's because they had very little to actually show when they began the kickstarter. Not only does that make people less inclined to pledge, it also makes it hard to market the kickstarter.
Update 29 is out, with an Art Diary featuring Art Director John Laws. A very good update.
If you want all the start positions avaiable for backers you'll need to pledge £85 for the Kickstarter Special which will also include any expansions for free and much more.
There's less than £100,000 to raise with 3 days to go.
