The glimpse of production is some space I use to bring to your attention some of the current production works - meaning, what the devs are currently working on. Read the
patch release process to better know how we work afterwards to introduce the changes into the live version of the game.
Our current focus is on a general
spring clean on the game; the next step when we will be finished here will be the preparation of the chapter III, which will introduce
the outposts in Ryzom.
Over the last weeks, we have also worked on other topics, like the Kami and Karavan elements for the upcoming events or the shard merge of Arispotle and Windermeer, which kept quite busy a part of the team. :-)
1] Laser rays for the KaravanThe Karavan agents are currently busy exchanging their current guns with new ones. When asked about what the differences are, they gave no answer, but there was some rumors telling that the new ones have at least one visible difference : they produce a ray when they fire...
2] Mektoub scaling Zhun Ba-Fong, a Zorai merchant and breeder, recently approached several stables of the four races to provide them with new breeds of mektoubs. Zhun succeeded to grow mektoub of different sizes, which according to him "
better fits the natural differences in size of the different races". "
Before, Trykers and Zorais had to use the same mektoubs; now, they will be able to get ones that better fit them - it will make a huge difference regarding comfort, especially when you ride over long distances", Zhun said. Apparently, the stable merchants did agree with him, since they will soon provide the new scaled mektoubs.
3] Run away from creaturesAs time passes, it seems that homins are starting to regain some control over the lands of Atys. Several journeymen, lead by the Fyros sage Aethus Cegrips, have published an article in "Atysia Natura", a renowned scientific magazine, predicting that the creatures would soon become more careful when they will encounter homin warriors and magicians : through several studies, they showed that there was a tendancy among the animals to be more fearful to leave their territory. Until now, an animal attacking or being attacked would follow their opponent until they would kill him or be killed. It appears that it won't be the case anymore, and that some of them could prefer to abandon the fight if their opponent runs away.
4] Camera path recorderThis feature, currently under development, will be especially useful to those of you who are shooting movies from the game : it will allow you to record a camera path (SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+F10 to start/stop), which you will be able to load on demand (SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+F11) afterwards. You can also record the current camera path in a file (put on your Ryzom folder) by pressing SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+F12, and reload it afterwards by typing the following command : '/loadCamRec <filename.cr>'.
You will then be able to prepare travellings in advance and have smoother and get better scene overviews.
5] State of the ritesHere is the current status of the rites being produced :
- On the ATS / internal tests : 20 rites are available for tests, including 11 new ones that have been patched in yesterday. Since the last glimpse of production, three of the previous rites have been desactivated to be re-tested internally.
- In leveldesign : 85 more rites are at different stages of completion.
6] New website previewThe new website, currently in development, is quickly maturing. Apart from the general rework on the way we present the information (about gameplay, features, background, etc.) in the different sections of the website, the home page also gets a lifting :
- The news will be more personal, and you will know the name of the poster
- As previously mentionned, there will be more news, as my posts will move to the news section of the website
- A special news section will be dedicated to the events, so you can be better informed of what's going on Atys
- Another section, called the "fan-attic" will be dedicated to news about ''your'' creations (websites, artworks, articles, movies, etc.) to give more visibility to what you create. It may not be on the first version of the website we will release, but if you want to be included in the first set of links from this section, you can send a mail to fan-attic@nevrax.com with the details of your creations.
This website will be a basis on top of which we will then begin to develop additional features designed to be dynamic with the game.

It will be nice when mobs stop following you makes running around much more enjoyable and trekking through large unsafe zones a bit easier.
