Alternative client DL's ?

So i live in Barrow Alaska (when they talk about hell freezing over this is the place they think of) because of this i have poop for internet. The DL program for defiance seems to reset the entire download everytime my internet drops. Well my internet will disconnect every 4 hours and its not the fastest, this = paying for a game i simply cannot get. 

My wife already purchased this on steam, she thought i would DL the client from steams servers... nope not the case you just DL there little program to DL the client.

So i am in the process of getting a refund through steam, i would not even bother if i knew for sure i could get the client from another source, i have yet to find anything for it.

So i am asking any of you if you know of an alternative DL for this games client ?

You are in a tough luck.

 

Unlike Rift client, you cannot pause or streamplay.

 

Should have bought retail.

Umm as i stated above wife got it for me on steam as a gift.

I had several disconnects while downloading and it certainly didn't restart the download from zero. It does however rescan all downloaded data and displays that as a download rate of whatever your HDD can manage. Also tried the pause button and it had been working fine for myself.

Note however that this was with the patcher downloaded from Trion's site, not via Steam. I'd assume them to be the same, but possibly there is a difference there.

No it does not.

 

I downloaded 8 GB the first day, saying 1 hour left. (full size 10 GB).

 

Next day it said 12 hours left and redownloaded EVERYTHING (Folder went 18 GB before installing).

Our experiences differ then, which is entirely possible, too bad.

Addendum:

Looking in the official forum it seems like the patcher restarts from scratch if there has been a patch released in the meantime, which is ridiculous, but would very well explain why it didn't work for you while it worked for myself.

Someone uploaded a torrent for download.if you google it you will find it.

The one on official forum was removed. Maybe trion don't want people to upload maybe? tried to find the link but it is gone.

I'm wondering that with such a shitty downloader, why have they not made a official Torrent.

 

Or make it possible to pause/resume the patcher.

Or they could atleast allow players to upload torrents till patcher issues are resolved. There were two topics on official forums, gone now.

Heh well next to Anarchy Online this will be one of the worst releases for me.

I still can't believe it's Trion that is releasing this game. Did they forget how to make a game ?  Or was this SyFy pressuring for the T.V. release ?

#1 i can't DL the client, which is kind of the point of this thread.

 

I appreciate your attepmpt at helping but, umm i can't get the client to download because there is no resume function with the downloader.

the game client is 10mb, you telling me you can't download 10mb?
