This is a pretty stupid poll/thread that is trollbait worthy.  At NO point is a company that creates games worse then what banks were doing to the economy, oil spoils, etc.

So you dislike a game a company makes because it's not as good as another game or has bugs.  Did that ruin lives? Smash small businesses? Kill wildlife?

    Lol. Come ON....

Besides, everyone knows the worst is Walmart.

That's because people who checked off No can actually justify it and aren't just upset consumers.  Realistically, there are worse companies in the US.  Banks and airlines laugh at this poll.

Everyone bitches about EA but I have yet to see here or on that online "worse co of the year judged by the public shiz" give us a list of naughty things EA has done.  List please!  It prob isn't as long as everyone has imagined.

So from an mmo gamers' point of view who would win the best company of the year?  I would include computer corps since I'm asking for mmo opinions.

A game company that makes crappy games. It's certainly the worst gaming company. They have all the resources int he world, yet still provide complete sass.

And now it seems that  they are trying to get some yearly "battlefield series" going (like the CoD series - rehash of the same game).

You should have said worst GAMING company in America...because EA doesnt hold a candle to companies like Koch Industries, Bank of America, Monsanto...Haliburton.

    Worst company... bullshit...

Worst game company.. maybe... There are a few others that might rank up there... The one with the most dissatisfactory customers... Yupp with out a doubt.

That is bad enough in reality seeing as they live on their customers, but at the same time why should they care about that rating when their revenue says something completley different. As a game publisher they have few (if any) equals and that is a fact.

    Some numbers

Battlefield 3 had sold 8 million copies

The Sims 3 was an instant success, selling 1.4 million copies in its first week

Crysis 2 has now sold in three million copies worldwide,

So why on earth would they care about that award as it obviosly did not really effect their day to day biz. Not saying they should take steps to enghance their trademark, beczuse it sorly needs it but i feel that the smugness is sort of validated.

This have been a good conversation

Just shows were priorities of gamers lie. EA is even worst than banks and bankers who made countless people in America homeless. But no EA is worst because video games is a serious business.

I think EA's CEO put it best:

“This is the same poll that last year judged us as worse than companies responsible for the biggest oil spill in history, the mortgage crisis, and bank bailouts that cost millions of taxpayer dollars,” Moore notes. “The complaints against us last year were our support of SOPA (not true), and that they didn’t like the ending to Mass Effect 3.”

The oil spill is bad, but then it was an accident. If compared to the dodgy servers of Sim City then the oil spill company wins

However EAs way of abusing DLC and nickle and diming in the games is completely intentional, and takes more money off people than is really necessary.

And this is it right here.  The ONLY complaint about EA is Sim City's servers and a very vague "they make crappy games."  And EA doesn't make games to my knowledge.  It is a business company that hires game makers.

*** I quoted some one talking about Sim City but my post messed up so maybe they edited at the same time I posted.

There's alot worse that has happened than some company ripping off players and making bad games.  Look at the big parent companies like pharmaceutical parent companies (there's alot of them), GE and J&J.  At least EA hasn't killed or maimed anyone (that I know of).

should expand that choice to US based branches of companies...

I don't think they'd deserve it for their MMOs this year. However when it comes to Simcity, they never listened to their customers and ended up doing everything wrong. The core design is wrong to fit their "always-online" requirement (which adds no value to the gameplay whatsoever)... Metascore of 65/100 (factoring in fake review websites like eurogamer) and user score of 1.9/10 is the way to go to reach such award.

For people who live sheltered lives and never had to face any real problems, a bad video game is worse thing that can ever happen to them.

Here is a thought we can not conrol how banks make people homeless but we can control are entertainment vale for the dollar and if we feel a company like EA is rubbish why would any smart gamer pay hard earn money to entertain themself with rubbish?

Not saying two wrongs make a right. Just saying that if you can control something then do it and maybe enough of us gamers feel that EA is a bad company just maybe but I doubt it EA may acualy refect on what it was like to make games for pure entertainment and not just about the all mighty dollar.

True I supposed, I guess killing and maiming thousands of people isn't so bad when in a game you can kill millions :)

They have some successes but they piss away huge sums of money and good will. They don't even make good return for their stockholders and that's the worst  thing a Corporation can do.  Also the much reviled Diablo 3 sold 12 million as of December last year so those games don't stand out much. They're big but not really that successful.

As i said, they can be better but i was just pointing out that even with that so called black mark on their record they sold games like no tomorrow..(they have been called the worst company long before it was made "official"). So i can understadn why they don't care all that much.

Not as i said above they really need to work on the fact that they have some of the most angry customers because that will become a problem in the future.. Especially when it comes to launching new franchises

The DLC is so small charges that it does not seem much at the time, but if people get carried away, and not careful, it all adds up eating away at your savings, and can also lead to homelessness, epsecially if you then lose your job.

How anyone could possibly think a company that sells an entertainment product, something completely, utterly, and totally optional, something that would effect your life not in the least if you never bought one of their products, to even suggest such a company could be the "worst company in America"...

The very notion is so absurd, so utterly, mind-bogglingly stupid, as to bugger the imagination.

The level of whiny arsed narcissism required to think not getting your Sims3 fix on launch day comes anywhere near the level of companies that price fix foods, extend wars for profit, or manipulate people out of their homes and life savings -- things that, unlike whether or not you got to sit on your arse and enjoy a video game on time, actually fucking matter -- is hard for me to even imagine existing.

That this is even a question is a testament to every sad gamer stereotype there ever was. It's embarrassing that anyone even had the gal to think this warrants discussion, and the only redeeming feature is that at least there seems to be a fair number of people who recognize that.
