Earth and Beyond

Hundreds of games out here. Pretty much all the same. Why can't someone do a nice space game (with today's technology) like Earth and Beyond? Fly your ship to space stations, mine in space, get quests from the space stations and fight monsters in space. Real simple, relaxing fun. That's what I'm looking for and won't be spending any money until I see one like that!

IMO it is far too costly to make a good space game, simple reason is you need to basically make two games in one.

I have well let me see ,like about 1% confidence in Star Citizen,i expect it to be a cheap f2p game.

Imo the ONLY developer ,well strike that TWO developers who could do it justice would be Epic games and just maybe John Carmack aka Quake, but Carmack is out to cut corners,it is why he likes Opengl over Windows,so ya prolly only Epic games.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

The two games I was talking about before the above stated what amounts to a opinion and a badly documented one at that.

Like someone said earlier, the difficulty of space oriented games is you generally have to have space combat and ground combat......You also have to have a huge world (as the universe is generally huge) and for some reason most of these games have heavy PVP......I think sci-fi is one area that is ripe for someone to really come in with a killer game but we haven't seen it yet (not counting Eve btw)......

Vendetta Online.  Check it out, thank me later.

edit: by the way, you may find this info tidbit of interest:

they are no longer active (or "one of the biggest guilds in VO"; the largest has something like 250 members) to my knowledge, but Vendetta did receive a large influx of EnB refugees after that game went down so many years ago.
