The irony is that the only pc exclusives are mmos with outdated graphics anyway. The sheer volume of AAA console exclusives you simply can't get on pc more than make up for weaker hardware.
you forgot the PC exclusives that are just generally beyond the consoles ability to support, and have cutting edge graphics, but that would be an inconvenient truth, lot of that going around at the moment, must be the weather.
and for inconvenient truths, how about the one where the future of console gaming is dependant on the next generation of consoles succeeding, and Microsoft already dropped the ball on that one, maybe Sony can save the consoles, but regardless of what happens, PC gaming will continue regardless, funny how that works out isnt it
You act like console games don't come with top of the line graphics, don't talk like PS3 and Xbox 360 are boasting atari sprites and pixalated foregrounds
Compare to highend PC its NO, sorry i crushed your dream.
XBOX ONE and PS4 maybe good graphics now and finally also DX11 but they even can't still compete with high end pc of this moment let alone high end PC end of the year when AMD comes with 8xxx videocards.
Desktop will always win for many reason but that don't mean its becouse of that most favorite no prolly not but its best of the best.
I love how these PC elitist try to put down consoles like they are some sort of red-headed step child ready to be beaten. Sorry to inform you and crush YOUR dreams but if it wasn't for XBox and Microsoft, PC gaming wouldn't be where it is now. You know why they came up with the name XBox? It's because the Direct-Xbox was pitched to Ed Fries to create a console that ran a Windowless version of Windows for gaming. Check out this read to broaden your scope of things.
If it wasn't for PC you console fanboi's would still play with your lego or he-man dolls.
Every game is developed on PC ported to inferior consoles with all its limitations.
Maybe i sound elitist but my highend PC is in so many ways superior to any console on market old or new generation.
Does anyone else think that if they can make all these changes that were supposedly part of the core design of the XBone and still make it in time for the Christmas shopping season suspect that it was all a farce to begin with? Not that they didn't have these "features", rather that they were indeed integral to how the system operated?
Kinda like how EA was all "Sim City is designed around being online!" and surprise! Someone mods it to work offline within days. I dunno... just adds to the whole conspiracy theory of how always-on DRM is just a load of bullshit.
And it's still $100 more than the PS4...
It's fun to watch this, though being a self-professed PC elitist, I don't have a dog in the fight. I do like watching tone deaf organizations squirm for their cynicism towards their consumer base, however.
Oh and to the guy above who said that if it weren't for consoles, PC gaming wouldn't be where it's at, I just... I... oh hell...

They might have been integral to the business model they chosen but it would be silly for them to have those limitations on hardware level. In the always online DRM in a way Xbone had it was pretty much a software based check that most likely didn't take all that much to disable considering they have and know their own source code. Sure it was probably written in a more complex way than just changing 1 to 0 to prevent easy modding of the console but let's face it, it's not like they had to rewrite the whole thing from scratch to remove it.
Keep in mind however all the games that have "cloud computing" included in their code will still require internet connection to use it.
Basically due to the backlash because of the imho of the new xboxes pitch. They are backpedaling on a lot of their restrictions. But ONLY because enough of a backlash was felt from the gaming community.
Too little too late Microsoft.
I am so glad to see that this thread is still going on because we get good info like this. In a previous thread I stated that Microsoft was listening to feedback and a lot of things would change before launch. All of this has been planned for years and its still a lot more good things to come. Please keep voicing your opinions!
Original post has been updated with the new information.
Too little too late? LMAO
I don't see why you are laughing personally OP. No need to stoop to a meaningless insult about my post in your reply. Microsoft first come out with all these restrictions and try to sell them as core features. They get such a backlash that they suddenly backtrack on these "features" because they know they are likely going to lose potential customers over this. It IS too little to late for them to stave off the damage they have done to their brand as this flipflopping they are doing on their policies just makes them look terrible.

Someone else said it, but this thread was originally a massive wall of PR spin about how the DRM and online-functionality was a great core feature set and how we just didn't understand it.
And now that Microsoft's removed it, it's now "more good things to come!" (from the OP).

I know. I did read the entire thread to give it some benefit of the doubt. Then the 180 came and that is when it sealed the deal for me about if I should get an Xbox or not. If they can change their console policies so fluidly just to entice customers. That isn't the kind of companies console I want to support.
I'm just disappointed all round with the console market as things are. For a moment I was hoping that maybe things had changed. The last console I owned was a Ps1. And before that a sega megadrive ( which still works! ). I boycott developers when they come out with something I don't like. Sadly it looks like I will be just sticking to PC gaming unless the Shield or Piston do well.

personally, I can't think of a single aaa pc exclusive that is a must have and also has such amazing graphics that put current gen consoles to shame.
Ah... Ignorance is bliss. 1080P is so old school. Some people don't even know what good graphics are.
Point being... A well made PC will blow a console out of the water in every way shape and form. A console will keep you ignorant of what is even possible.
The only things a console has over a PC is price of entry and an over abundance of shitty games.
