You poor souls. Did you think you was going to get a pve focused sandbox that was p2p with no cash shop? This is why you don't hype yourself on something you know nothing about.

Funny you mention MJ and CU. We knew more about CU during the Kickstarter than we know about the 2013 E3Best of show champion: EQ Next...
Ya CU is far from a MMO. Its like taking one part of a MMO and calling it a full game. As far as how much they know about CU vs EQN. The press got to see something, we dont know what but enough to say its got something. Whats CU have? a few tech demos? You are far from seeing the full picture on this. Also what you know about CU (as it stands now just a project starting) could be a different animal in 2-3 years.

Exactly. Follow the arrow back, and we've seen this hype sequence dozens of times.
Next Month? Depends on the next Announcement trigger, but there's bound to be something between now and August.
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

New beta, new game, release date all things that make the hype go up. I guessing between now and the next few months its gona be hard to take EQN off the top dog slot for long. But I have been wrong many a time =-)

This particular hype bubble was first launched by an announcement from a competitor.... Hmm, same mmorpg.com staff member jizzing in his pants over that one, too. I see a trend.
But all if takes is a financial report to stir them up, if it's a slow enough forum week. Particularly if you can guess at subs up or subs down or "going F2P any minute now", or some other predictive doom.

True, but SoE is not asking for $200M to start working on EQ Next. Mark and CU had to show something to get people to invest.
