Too cartoony

After watching some vids, this looks too cartoony for me. Very very disappointed in the art direction. What a waste of development resources.

 

Funny, this will make ESO a very popular game.

It's hilarious how this game looks absolutely nothing like Everquest or Everquest 2. The sole reason this was named Everquest is to create hype. It looks like a children's game.

There is nothing Everquest about this game minus the name.  Looks like a game aimed for teenagers with the art and combat style.

Looks badass. Much more like my type of game. At least it's not Disney.

It's a pretty odd choice from SOE. They show a montage of mature Everquest players as their fanbase, and then they give them a game that looks like it is intended for children. Female human looks like a disney princess, that kerra looks like chester cheetah, and warriors spin around like a looney tunes tasmanian devil. I don't have a problem with a cartoony mmo (I'm looking forward to Wildstar), but why make Everquest cartoony?

I wanted Kerra to look better, something more like how Vah Shirs are in EQ1.  It's crazy how they made Kerras like lion king.  That's just wrong in every which way possible.

I dont understand SoE's choice either.

EQ had its very own art style and it was enjoyed by lots of their loyal fans for years so why go from one extreme to another...

 

To target a MUCH younger audience? Ok but by doing so you end up loosing a good chuck of the audience who enjoy the good old EQ art style. And between me and you folks who has the more MONEY to spend in a video game? The adult or the very yound kid?

 

I wont say that I wont be trying the game but so far I am not impress at all not that the game trailers are bad they look nice but do they suit the EQ style? Absolutly NOT.

 

Its still early and maybe the artstyle will still allow us to feel like in good old EQ but I doubt it and from my point of view immersion is very very important.

Oh well if EQ next end up being a average game SOE can only blame themselves for the very bad art style decision.

So, I just get home for work.  I have been exciting like most of you to see what this finally looks like.......what a colossal waste of time.  This looks like it was made for 8-12yrs old.  SOE praising it's core members, you'd think they deliver EQ1/EQ2 graphic art direction.  Instead, we get  more cartoon stylized graphics.  Graphics are only a part of it, however with all the hype/build up & attention, what a shame...

I am still hoping that this was all a joke - a side project that SOE was doing for Disney.

The real EQN will be shown as some point in the future.

 

That's my hope...

The title is to attract the Everquest fan base..

 

everything else is for what WoW unleashed on this genre.

As a old EQ1 vet, I Fail to understand why they went the route of WOW with this EQ.  Lets be honest this is WOW 2.0, not EQ next IF they keep on this pace with GW2 weapon/spells feature.
