Haha, yeah I can imagine. Unfortunely my main is a spearman and I tend to stick to my decisions about main class. Furthermure, I love to craft all my gear myself, so the dungeon gear would simply rot in my retainer XD.
I met a lallafell-roegadyn duo today through queueing for the lv17 Ul'dah dungeon, the big roegadyn was the healer and the tiny lallafell was the tank LOL. I bet that duo too had fun running dungeon maps; it was clear that this wasn't their first time:P.
I'm usually a healer in every game I play, this time I decided to play a lancer, lvl 15 so far, and I'm seriously considering switching to my lvl 4 conj. Hek people are paying for resses.

Arcanist/Scholar will probably be my second class. Hopefully itll be interesting. I dont usually play healers but the tanks in this game are boring IMO.
Being healer can become pretty hard in this game. It seems there are many players that are new to mmorpg's (probably mostly ps3 players) and so you often have tanks and dps' that are simply horrible. I cry a little inside when I have to watch a healer work through a dungeon with tanks that don't know how to pull, don't know how to tank and don't pick up adds so the healers job become tank and healer.
It actually get's frustrating from just watching while being dps myself, I start to just guard the healer and try to get aggro on all the mobs that come charging them.
As a healer in this game when I pull agro I just use my spell that pushes the enemy away (can't remember what it's called atm) and then just run to the tank to make it easier for him to get agro back. I'm still just doing low level content but so far it's worked pretty well

Yeah, it can be pretty bad sometimes, haven't failed any of the low level dungeons yet though, they're easy enough and I'm good enough to carry a few people on my back for a bit, however, I started playing maurader a few days ago and really liking it so going to stick with that for a while.
At least this way the healers have someone that knows what happens on thier end to look out for them. That 5 minute que on maurader does suck though.
While this is the first game as a healer for me I love it and hate it. when people do stupid shit and don't play their role it pisses me off. Here I am running towards the tank while healing him before me or aoe healing as a last resort and my team stands in freaking green shit that hurts you in thousand maw! I mean I don't mind healing you guys but don't make it harder than it has to be :P.
If you remember your old 1.0 username & password you can try the game for free (no need to enter CC info or anything like that) until september 9 (or so) I think.
Only level 15 healer so far, so my experience is very limited, but due the pace of group combat (casting times, global cooldown etc...) looks faster than EQ but nowhere near the fast paced combat we have had lately on mmorpgs.
Ya i agree its nice being a healer for the insta queues. I always play healer so im used to it. It would be weird if i had to wait...Its the only class im not bored by, u have to stay on top of things as a healer.
I'd love to play a healer in FF ARR myself, but then i keep reading that there are VERY few actual healing spells. A guy in a stream i just watched opened his spellbook (Conj) for me and confirmed that.
So nothing that really makes a complete healer with all the tools, bells and whistles. Until your 20s you go along with 2 (!!??) healing spells. If this is really the case, i can only shake my head about such design.
I'd appreciate if anyone can prove me wrong and give a detailed explanation of healing-spells and their total number
(list of all healer spells for conj and white mage anyway).
I am a 29 lancer/18 pug and I've been tempted to try another class, but really want Dragoon before I do anything else.. so close..
Now that is some info, thank you.
As i see, you go with 2 healing spells all along as a Conjurer and get a third (HoT) with the Acanist. So except for the high cooldown level50 "Benediction", you basicly go with a total of three spells as a healer.
I played healers only for years and through alot of classes in many games - so knowing my way around, this is an absolute joke for me. Using bandages in a text adventure is about just as exciting.
At level 30 all arcanists can choose to queue as scholars, which means queue times go from instant to 20-30mins as a healer. Only tanks get instant queues from 30 through endgame. So if you want Fast queues avoid playing a healer.
So is a tank I get instant ques aggro is easy for me but then again I'm a warrior so aoe taunts are plenty for me. I am wondering how long cues are for dps?

You're stupid, so therefore ALL PC GAMERS ARE STUPID! see what I did there? I own a PC and all the consoles. Played every MMO out. From UO/EQ1 to GW2/Neverwinter. I meet more stupid PC gamers, who suck at strats and their class period.
I played EQOA/FFXI on consoles and had to play FFXI with the Japanese because American PC gamers plain sucked.
Here's an even better idea. Play as a Gladiator/Marauder as your second class too. Have a tank and a healer on standby. Makes dungeon run grouping sooooo easy.
I always roll healer in MMO's and my hubby usually rolls a tank/dps - we have so much fun with that combo because we can pretty much do anything and dungeon queues are instant!
So far conjurer seems easy - I barely touched my group heal in our first dungeon, hopefully things get more challenging as I level up! I am used to healer in games like WoW and Aion where one healer has about 10 different heal skills + condition removals + dps skills... we'll see how conjurer compares at end game!

So stop your generalizations and stupid comments.
I'm not generalizing, the probability that a ps3 player is new to mmorpgs is a lot higher than the probability of the same factor of pc users. Also the way the characters move and target shows clear ps3 signs. They have auto lock on turned on by default on ps3 and you see that behaviour if you watch closely, most pc player's do not even know it exists and if they do wont turn it on (talking about "locking" on a target and moving in circles around it with left and right rather than free control and camera movement).
Now, I'm not saying this makes every ps3 player new or bad, evidently there are such as you who have experience in mmorpgs, but if you think about it you should come to the conclusion that many, many other ps3 players do not have that experience and bought ff14 because they played single player ff games on their console before.

As an old EQ healer i enjoyed the role alot. Can anyone tell me if they are similar to each other?
I have been on the fence about coming back (i tried 1.0) but still waiting.

Love, love, love my warrior.
Dragoon is 30 Lancer / 15 Marauder. A lot of the guides were wrong.

Healers are less popular than DPS? No wai!
