Apparently my account has been suspended for botting, use third party software, and other cheating. No one else has used my account and I did not cheat in any way.
So, apparently, there is to be an investigation. If they really investigate, they'll find I didn't cheat.
So, I suspect, because I was doing well, malicious people reported me as a cheater. Is this all it takes to get someone's account suspended? That's griefing.
Anyway, if I don't get my account back complete with all my money and items from before this suspension began, I'm done with this game. There's no reason to work for something if it can just be taken away like this.

If you believe you are in the right and they are in the wrong take them to court .... Judge Wapner
I retired retroactively..Haha
One side of the story
OP says they never did anything wrong
Baseless accusation about others being jealous and they reported the OP
Came to MMORPG to QQ
Conclusion: Don't bott kids.
To play devil's advocate here a little bit: all we have is his word. What people view as "cheating" is a matter of perspective. I don't think they'd be that heavy handed, but I'm an optimist.
A good example would be:
Raquelis in various games
Played: Everything
Playing: Nioh 2, Civ6
Wants: The World
Anticipating: Everquest Next Crowfall, Pantheon, Elden Ring
I was suspended too for gold selling like you I did not do it. Be prepared for the backlash from the mmorpg community. They will say you were guilty and not many here will support you. That has been the pattern with anyone who posts about a suspension despite the fact SE is suspending a lot of account from customers who are not guilty. After two weeks of trying to get to customer service I stopped. I was able however to get a refund on the game after a few phone calls and getting my credit card company involved. I have been a SE customer and account holder since 2008 it is a shame but I will never be a SE customer again. Sorry this happened to you I totally believe you I hope it turns out better for you then a lot of other players. Not only am I done with FFXIV I am done with SE.
I'm not a kid. I'm 39 years old and I game as a hobby.
Yeh, I'm QQing a little, but everything I said was true, and if it saves someone money or time I'll QQ all over.
Just will have to see what happens when/if this investigation they say is going to happen concludes.
Quite the conclusion jump. Sorry you got suspended.
Well, what else am I supposed to think? I don't think they have random suspensions and investigations.
Am I to suspect they have a "speed limit" of some kind? I have millions of gil I earned from selling stuff I made crafting. They'd have a record of all these transactions.
Maybe someone bought my stuff with "bought gil". I dunno. I'd think they'd be able to figure that out, too.
I love how some gamers are so quick to believe other gamers with only one side of the story.
@op: You don't know why you were flagged. call customer service and hash it out with them.
And don't harass the person on the other side. Don't yell at them or go on a tirade, or anything else a "disgruntled customer" might do.
I've had a lifetime of dealing with customer service on both sides of the desk and I can assure you that being polite, stating your case clearly, will get you more results that are favorable.
If something goes wrong and they don't decide in your favor you thank them for their help, empathize with their position but point out that there is clearly something amiss in their decision making process. You then ask for the contact info for the customer service manager because, though your account wasn't able to be salvaged you feel it's important for them to know that there is an error in their process.
You then actually write that person (e-mail, whatever) and explain the situation from the standpoint of someone not trying to get their account back but explaining to them of the error and that this feedback is important for them to hone their systems. All the time being polite yet straightforward.
You'll be surprised at how many times a decision in your favor can happen because you went the extra mile.
And if you don't get anything else then cut your losses and move on.
AND if you were actually cheating then and you are just creating drama then "good".
Additionally make note that maybe you were unknowingly dealing with gold farmers or cheaters and because you received "large sums of money" for items that could have flagged your account.

Great idea. You know the number? They don't give it out.
I emailed them through their support center.
This shouldn't have happened anyway. I shouldn't have to deal with this. Who cares about your little creative writing story essays about "one side of the story" and "devil's advocate" bs. It's rubbish.
exhibit A as to why you aren't going to get your account back. Good attitude. I gave you advice that has actually worked for me over the years and you lash out.
A+

Your post was insulting as it was patronizing. I'm not a child that needs your advice on how to talk to people. You're being a jerk and while you're so full of yourself thinking I somehow snubbed you, you neglected to give me that number.
In a couple of games, I've almost been banned as a bot.
I was grinding mobs in an area with nice consistent spawns of what I needed, and had been doing it for a while. My brain half shut off and I was in zombie mode. (At least I wasn't drooling.) Eventually some jerks came by and tried to screw with me or jack my spawns. I share if someone's being polite, but these guys invariable weren't. They must have gotten pissed that I still got the better of them, or wouldn't rise to their bait, I don't know, but shortly thereafter, I've got a GM in front of me.
Often, I don't pay attention to the chat box. I might even turn it off if the game allows. (some do) After all, I'm grinding, and that's boring, but even worse is trying to read through mindless pre-pubescent bragging by morons. So saying something is NOT going to get my attention. Sending a whisper or tell might, but only if I notice the different color text before it scrolls off.
Now having a GM suddenly flash into existence in front of me, or having a GM Chat WIndow open in my face will get my attention and bust the gaming trance.
Because the GMs took the time to contact me in game in a fashion that wouldn't be unintentionally ignored, I wasn't banned for being a bot. On the other hand, I do know about a number of lazy GMs that never bother to try and do that, and instead just observe them a litlte, and if they are following a pattern (despite it being encouraged by the game) they'll assume that the player is really a bot.
Were you botting? I have no idea, but yeah, innocents do get blamed and banned on occasion.
Lost my mind, now trying to lose yours...
and yet you are acting like it. All that "feeling patronized" is you. The advice was sound as I've seen so many people lose it with customer service. Heck, I even had a roommate who lost it, didn't get what he needed, I got on the phone and in 15 minutes the problem was resolved.

1. You own the product.
2. You do not have the specs and code of how it was intended to be used.
3. Exploiting bad code through normal game usage is the developers responsibility, not the customer's.
4. Ban for that? Court systems are there for you. Most countries have something against locking someone out of a purchased product. Remember when GW2 gave all those accounts back after 2 weeks because they made a mistake in Karma value? A simple letter of intent did the trick.
Boycotting EA. Why? They suck, even moreso since 2008.
That's probably because, from what I've seen, most game companies seem to have no clue on how to set up their websites. It's almost as if they go out of their way to make finding their support difficult.
Good luck.

My favorite part about these threads is when OP breaks down at the end and admits using a bot "but it was just once."
Hi, I work for a company which does IT stuff.
We purposefully made it difficult for client-users to get support.
The big bosses though, have my bosses personal phone numbers, however, big bosses (and we know it) are rarely ever present when problems arise so it forces client-users to make sure the problem isn't on their side. They dont really have anything better to do while they wait.
Game companies are not about the games anymore, they are about the business of making money. They do the same.

Click on that nice little button called phone support.
1. No, you don't own the product. The only thing you own is the CD and case you purchased. Your right to play the game is nothing more than a license that can be revoked by SE if you violate the EULA or TOS
2. Doesn't matter. Just because you didn't know doesn't change the fact that the act was wrong.
3. Actually, knowingly exploiting a code or error in the game, is a bannable offense per TOS. It's like that in any game. No gamemaster is going to believe a person when they say "I didn't know it was a bug" when they do it 1000 times in a row. (exaggeration, but you get the idea)
4. Again, yes. The TOS and EULA is there for a reason. It protects the game and it's players from issues like this. Sure, you can threaten to sue. Most games will give access back to avoid taking something stupid like that to court. No matter how stupid, it was against the game's 'rules'

I guess it comes to no surprise that the snarkiness of your rebuttals are met with kind. You start by blaming others for your situation and then expect the same people to accept your conclusion while ignoring their own with the limited information you provided. Then you respond to someone who is seems to be trying to legitimately help you by asking for something you could have figured out with a simple google search:
"Small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas."
Maybe thats the issue. He prefers Bing! lol.
There Is Always Hope!
So, I called. They said it's an investigation, no info what they're looking for, no eta.
This will probably last through the weekend if not longer. I'm not sure which is the bigger downer, all of this or the trolls in this forum.
