I don't know where the future of the MMO is headed, but I would be interested to play a game like the ones I am about to describe. Read below and if you like, tell me if you will as well or why not?

Pen and Paper RPG is getting together with your friends and go on a quest, a quest that is crafted by the Dungeon Master.

So what if the whole MMO starts in a Tavern/Inn

You have a Bulletin board that lists all the quests available.

The quests are Developer generated, Player submitted, and they can come in multiple categories , tournaments, actual quests, requests ...etc by developers and by other players.

Players log in, you appear in a tavern, you can talk to the staff of the tavern for some general information, or go straight to the bulletin board and find quests to do, or you can LFG to go on quests others is on.

You can only tackle one quest at a time so no one can monopolize on them, and they each will have a time limit that can expire if no one picks them, and time limit for completion.

nothing less than 24 hours.

You also have PVP, players that can shadow a quest /player and can kill them on their journey if they can, no more than 2 shadows can be cast , so the PVP player is always at an disadvantage

No levels, only skills and materials ( materials to craft better weapons, armors ...etc and additions to existing skills eg. fire with explosion added...etc ) When you die, you go back to the tavern and only have 1 more chance to finish your quest.

So basically you log in, go on a journey with your friends, if you are solo, tackle solo quests, if you have only 1 hour, tackle 1 hour quests, if you have all day, go on a long quest ...etc

The world is there, but the quests transports you to the starting point, cities, npc and mobs generated by Players and Devs, it can either be linear, or can be crafted based on your actions. Of course, there are certain basic rules that you can't bypass and must be set within the rule set. The dev sets the basic rules so nothing is abused. And the adventure begins.

My ideas came from anime Fairytail Guilds ,GW1 , Pen and Paper.
