I've watched most of the official videos and read a few of the previews... the game is looking solid.  I like it.  One thing I'd like to see, or at least discussed in detail, is exactly how large this game will be.  With one of the arch-types listed as "adventurer" I'd hope the game world is on the large size.

I'm all for premium content, instanced goodness - but some good ole'fashioned land mass is where its at for me.  Older games like Asheron's Call had a massive 2-hour real time run across the island for your exploration enjoyment... it took 6-hrs to run the circumference, so true adventuring could be had.  I hope Wildstar can deliver at least the land mass of WoW, although even it felt small compare to some...

Also, just a closing thought... will the housing be as crowded as it was in say SWG...?  or will it be instanced?

Sadly most of these questions can't be answered until the NDA is lifted, but if I had to guess this game will have plenty of horizontal land mass, but given the adventurer, I think it will also have plenty of vertical land mas as well.  And if I had to guess about housing, it will probably be instanced in the same way that Aion housing is isntanced.

Since when is Tuesday a direction?

some people keep saying the game is 'for kids' when i think they really mean 'immature'

im fairly immature, but the alleged humor in everything, every video, every dev response, every piece of game footage, its enough already, i feel like im being beat over the head with it.

Some people want something different from wow because they are either over wow or don't like that type of gameplay. I see people slamming game companies on this forum a lot for trying to dev a game for a niche type of player. Well, IMO this is exactly what the industry needs. Make one or the other ... do it really well for that player base and attract your core base.

I played EVE for 7 years now and over the years there have been many many wow players come to EVE to try it out and the game was just not for them. That is perfectly fine, those people who don't find EVE fun don't need to be there because they don't add anything to the game but a bunch of complaints. Also, the avg age of the players in EVE is a lot higher than many other games ... up in the 30+ range if I recall correctly. That is also perfectly fine, the learning curve the game has and difficulty level and level of perceived grind and everything combined is a great filter to weed out those gamers that would not find the game fun and quite frankly I don't want them there.

Back on topic ... I have been following Wildstar and its totally not my style of game but even at 43 years of age I do like the art style and it does look interesting but levels and questing and gear and all that is not  my cup of tea.

Off topic -  Average Gamer age is 34.   Side note, 40% of gamers are female as well.

The more I see, the more sad I am, because yes, I really like what I'm seeing.

But as long as the game has CREDD and facilitates gold buying cheating, I'm going to have a problem with it.  I don't condone cheating, and do care if the games I play have cheaters in them, and there's no way you can convince me that shifting RMT, which is and has been cheating since the dawn of MMORPGs, into a service provided by the hosting company, is anything but facilitated cheating.

Wildstar is going to be a premium priced game with a premium sub.  There is no reason for them to skim a few extra bucks off of gold buying cheaters or to try to avoid dealing with the customer service related to cheaters by providing the way to cheat themselves.

Selling game currency for cash is usually an aspect of the worst of F2P - not something I expect or want to see in a premium pay to play (I don't want to see it ever and have zero respect for cheaters, period, but I especially can't tolerate cheating in a premium game - can somewhat understand scumbags providing the service in F2P where they'd sell their mothers for cash to make a few pennies in the game).

So much about this game sounds excellent and I surely don't understand why they ever even considered the CREDD thing for the game at all - it just doesn't fit.

Why have a combat system based on player skill, a quality MMORPG with quality content (implies you will fight and earn lots of cool stuff), PvP, raiding, etc - then build in a way for cheating losers to shortcut via gold buying?

We have a high quality combat system and are going out of our way to make a fair and balanced game - and we also have built in cheating.  Does not compute.

Premium MMORPGs do not feature built-in cheating via cash for gold pay 2 win. PLAY to win or don't play.

For me... if gold = time and time = gold... I have no problem with someone paying real cash to buy gold.  The balance comes into play on what is able to be purchased with gold.

As long as gold can only purchase non-reward gear or items (that is gear that should only be won by completing content, such as pvp or raids etc) then I don't see RMT as a problem.

Not everyone can play 20hrs a day to build in-game wealth etc... to me it is no different if a kid plays all day for 100G and a working man pays a reasonable amount of real cash for the same 100G.  Nothing in the game that matters changes.  Both guys will still need to raid or compete in PVP for the EPIC L00Ts!!!

No option intended in Ws to buy gold, you got something wrong there. No option for cheating any more than in any other MMO as well. i don't actually see the issue. A very similar system as the one Wildstar tries to implemet works very well for many years in EvE online, one of the most highly respected and successful all-time sub-based niche MMOs out there with an unusually mature community. Never heard that game to be a hot spot for cheaters and gold sellers....

I was weary when they added this in to EQ1 (Kronos). Once you realize the company isn't selling gold, people that play significantly more are, and they can ONLY spend that "real life money" on game subscription time, it's not the same. This game will not have aspects of F2P games where you can literally purchase powerful gear. Think along the lines of WoW. You can't really buy anything remotely powerful for gold in WoW. Crafting mats (non-soulbound ones) and some welfare epics?

This stigma all comes down to this obsession MMO players of today have with how other people play the game. There is no winning in MMO's. 99.99999% of the people who buy CREDD you will never know, speak to, or probably even see. Why would you care about what they do? In EQ1 this is just a way for people who don't have time to farm raid mats to purchase them with real life money. RMT will happen regardless of Krono, CREDD, PLEX. At least this way some of the benefits are going towards improving your game experience and adding content. Not helping fund the next generation of keylogging programs in some Chinese farm sweatshop.

The only people who I've seen have any remote concern over this type of transaction are people that won't be raiding or any form of gear grind. No one who raids gives a damn about gear you can buy with gold. It's trash.

Looks like same old, same old to me.  It would have been more interesting if they had added free roam space flight and maybe have exploration between a few worlds.  Otherwise I don't see anything to differentiate it from other titles that have come before.  Maybe housing, but like others it's instanced, and some of the mechanics may encourage single player aspects which may or may not be healthy for an mmo.  It looks like a largely instanced affair.  Arguments can be made either way on that.  I tend toward appreciating larger, more explorable worlds.

On the plus side, I like the aesthetics. UI looked functional and clean.  If it runs well fully maxed that would be a huge positive.

I want to know more.  But right now it looks like a free to play title.  That is to say, there are free to play titles out there that offer similar experiences.  Will they be able to compete in that climate?  Not sure.  I am willing to play a pay to play, but it has to bring something provocative or unique to the table.  I haven't seen that yet but I'm intrigued enough to watch the videos and keep abreast of any info coming out.
