If you consider that a lot of space, I doubt you have a very powerful PC. Usually when you make your gaming rig you want a minimum of 1 TB, 120 GB to 240 SDD space and 8-16 GB Ram. And those are the cheapest components.
I'm guessing you are only comparing it to the old alpha video that leaked back in april last year. But graphical fidelity is a subjective matter I suppose. Although in my opinion it's slightly above Dark Souls levels of fidelity. Which isn't too bad for an MMO.
Voice acting will make your MMO take a lot of HDD space. Just look at SWTOR.
But, you can always install the game on regular HDD and then copy-paste it to SSD. You can do it with most the MMO's that I'm aware of ( WoW, SWTOR, GW2, STO, Neverwinter, Rift etc.). Other games require some fiddling (e.g.BF4 ), but it's doable.
thought just having your OS and the page file on your SSD would speed things up enough, regardless of the game, though given how much SSD's cost/gb i don't think their really suitable for installing games onto anyway, unless you buy them 500+gb in size.

If it was that ugly for you, then you should try a real PC and not a C64 or Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
Actually, the game won't be on more than 30 gb at launch. It's common practise to advertise the recommended HD requirements as twice as much for MMO games since they usually add a lot of content afterwards.
It's kind of like when you bake you need a certain diameter of cupcake forms even though the dough doesn't quite fill them up. Growing properties.
Care to point me to one game that do this? Never heard of any and im using PCs for almost 25 years.
Now, these aren't MMOs, since I do not have any MMOs installed at this time. But the point remains. Single player games rarely require big updates, yet they still have atleast a 20% extra "requirement". And that's on the Minimum requirement, not the recommended. MMOs usually require bigger updates and more patches. And both of these genres usually add additional space requirements for near future DLC.
So in your 25 years of gaming, you haven't noticed this at all?

i5 4670k, 8gb, gtx 780, 1tb+128 gb ssd. when i say i played it i mean i played it a couple weeks back during a stresstest weekend. And yes, i consider 60 GB a lot of space, just because i have 1 tb it doesnt mean i just toss GB's everywhere. You young one just take those GBs for granted.

The Elder Scrolls Online beta client requires 27 GB on the computer's hard drive. However, at least 50 GB are needed to perform the download and installation operations. Furthermore, a computer needs about 15% of its hard drive space to be empty to run properly.
They cut out/blocked some stuff from the beta though, so that's not the full client (not going to go too much into what they cut out with the NDA and all).
I don't know how much exactly, but I expect the full client to be bigger.
Either way it's a good signed that it'll be a large client.
My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)
LOL love how everyone jumps right to the conclusion that "OMG the game must be HUGE and there is a ton of content". More than likely its gong to use half that, maybe even 'only' 25 gigs. But I would imagine that half of whatever it does use is audio files. Since so far that is the 'biggest' news we have about this game i s the voice actors they have for it.
We dont know but anyone who has played beta has an idea how big the world is because if Cyrodiil is supposedly 50-65% of the world size then all it takes is some Micky Mouse math to figure out the size of everything.

It's true. Whilst audio files don't take up too much individually, this is a fully voiced game.
Not to mention that they will require room to grow. Patches to be made and content updates.
OMG it's a LOT for a game we know that HD improved a lot last 10 15 years from.
Just for a game 60 Gb it's a lot in 2013 WOW had like 30 Gb +
SO just imagine how big world might be .....
The world doesn't have to be big at all, SWTOR was over 42GB the last time I played it over a year ago so im sure its upwards of 50gb now. Cutscenes and a ton of voice overs drives up the amount quickly.

Well yes but still huge amount of game content. I will no be surprised ESo to take all 60 GB because of it fully voiced NPC and HUGE promised world of all Provinces of Tamriel.

SWTOR is 25GB but you're right on the rest.
You are right, I still had the beta client installed

game is 30gb, 60gb is needed because game downloads 30gb, then installs same 30gb, if any point you run out of space you will have to redownload all 30gb and i mean if install fails YOU HAVE TO REDOWNLOAD FULL CLIENT, it isnt big game it is broken downloader that everyone in beta was complaining about, so instead of fixing they changed 30gb requirement to 60gb to prevent people from complaining instead of fixing
not sure why there is 7 pages of discussion about it already, were none of you in beta? I thought that by now everyone was aware of this fact
i saw a guy riding through a part of the world for like an hour and only visited a part of his factions area...so it does seem quite big....but than again, an mmo can never be big enough

When you buy online, you don't get dvd's, you download the entire thing!
If it was that ugly for you, then you should try a real PC and not a C64 or Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
That might solve the Issues with "being ugly".
Aerowyn's Video Compilation of ALL things Guild Wars 2
Certainly! Allow me to make a list!
1. Hearthstone - Space Occupied: 2,43 GB - Minimum Space Required: 3 GB
2. Shadow Warrior - Space Occupied: 6,93 - Minimum Space Required: 8 GB
3. Crysis 3 - Space Occupied: 14.2 - Minimum Space Required: 17 GB

Why buy something Online knowing that you dont have the capacity to download it? That is like buying a Car without having a Driver Licence or?
Aerowyn's Video Compilation of ALL things Guild Wars 2
My point entirely!
Not going to pay full price for dvd's and not able to download, so as I already said, sadly, just another reason I will not be playing!
Or you could walk over to a physical retail store and purchase it as llaya pointed out?
You can most likely purchase another 80 GB for a small fee from your Mobile Internet provider.
Or just buy the physical version? Install DVDs FTW

I only get 50gb most of which is for after hours usage, which makes it hard to download large quantities of files!
And no money to pay them for another lot anyway, I'm a full time student!
