If in 1982 we played with the current mentality, we would have burned down all the pac man games since the red ghost was clearly OP. Instead we just got better at the game.

Having had a chance to try Wildstar and having purchased FFXIV because it was on sale for $15 I can honestly say that I was wrong about TESO being a bad game. The genre is just in a horrible horrible place right now and TESO is the best of a sad bunch.
10 years ago my favorite MMORPG started. So did World of Warcraft and EVE Online. Games were trying new and different things. So what's so bad about going back there?

i want enterteinment from the first second i start a game! who needs that "you have to grind to max level that the fun starts!"-BS?
I agree, with one caveat: any big game comes with a tutorial at the beginning. Getting to level 4 does not leave tutorial territory. So if youre expecting the tutorial to be some breathtaking revolutionary experience you should write up a design document on how that can be achieved and sell it to developers for mucho money.

Whats wrong with the glory days of MMORPGs? Well let me tell you!.......
So I watched the video. Not sure where the complaints about him are coming from. He seemed to say a lot of positive things to say about the game and a few negative. It just didn't happen to be his type of game overall.

Thats just the point. It wasnt an impression of the game or a preview, it was a commentary on why he doesnt like that style of game, and given the amount of time he spent on it its the equivalent of me making a positive or negative commentary on a car that ive never even driven. Stupid.

From the few reviews I've read, he seems to be more of a MMORPG tourist, more of a console player or what not, so it doesn't surprise me that he doesn't really like MMO gameplay much.
I suspect the viewpoint of a player who is a purist, meaning more focused on MMORPG's might report on them more favorably.
Yeah pretty much and exactly why if anyone has watched his videos before, you should take that into account whenever he puts his opinion on anything from this genre. Not that he makes bad points because I agree with him on this one as well, but because he has to continue to provide pieces for a multitude of games which is why he doesn't seem to get as invested in MMORPG's. One of the aspects that people seem to forget is that these people cannot focus on any single game otherwise they fall off and become irrelevant to their viewers and lose their way of life. Maybe this is too sensible for these boards though.

I don't understand why anyone gives someone else's opinion any weight period. His opinion is just that, his. Play the game and form your own. There are too many followers and not enough individuals in this world.
After spending about 30 minutes, christ, the game does start incredibly slow. Starting areas also feels very SWTOR-ish, although heeeey, usable chairs! They learned something from swtor lol.
But the game started so slowly that It's hard for me to form impressions out of the combat, I was mostly runnung from point A to B, clicking on quest placeables, wondering when the fighting starts...it's just a very dated way to start an MMO.
I would agree with another post, they need throw you into the combat immediately, less talk and quest dialogue, less clicking on glowing stuff.
Thus far, certainly not the type of game I would drop a 60$ bomb on and then worry about the monthly fee. Might be the incredibly poor starting zones though, I'll change my opinion if It gets better later.
Beta tested the game months ago and have no plans of ever playing it again even if it was free to play. Its laughable that this game is going to be a charge a monthly sub. Wildstar is not even in the same league as a game like Elder Scrolls Online. Free To Play in 6 months or knowing how NC Soft gets down they may just pull the plug.
His comments at the end was the only thing that was half decent about that video! The only gameplay footage we saw was him raging about some books, then kill a few things, then suck at pvp. It was like a collage of failure.
He flopped on ESO, because he enjoys the whole historic battle thing, and he got to experience that in ESO! If it wasn't for that, he wouldn't have given it a slightly better review. Lets be honest too, his review went from this game is terrible to I will buy it, but not pay a monthly.
Joe doesn't enjoy typical traditional MMOs anyways! He has expectations of a b2p game when playing, and it's just insanely unrealistic.

No, because the subscription is valid for this game, but not ESO.
Wildstar is WoW 2.0.
ESO is just a cashgrab, like SWTOR was when it launched.
So again just like with ESO. Why am I supposed to care about his first impressions?
Well you care enough to watch his videos, then post here about it! We all appearantly do. Everyones got opinions and we know what they say about oppinions.. When I watch his videos I find them more entertaining than many other gameplay footage/reviews out there. Some times I agree with him and sometime I dont. But I sure dont get upset if he whines about stuff I like. I just think "oh your a dumba$$ Joe" then I keep watching the funny vids with the angry nAAb. These are all just my oppinions though.

It's so ironic how everyone seems to be cutting Wildstar a lot of slack, and with ESO people were saying how it would fail within a few months from just a few gameplay footages. Now everything's the otherway and ESO is getting tonnes of praise and Wildstar seems to be fading out from people's minds.

The more I play it the more I love it. The animations are topnotch and based on the humour in-game, it doesn't take itself seriously.
The aesthetics of it all is really polished, the characters don't seem out of place and every race is quite unique. Colour me impressed.
Starting areas could use a bit of a review by the devs.
+1

He'll say more positive things about wildstar when it comes to pvping

If the game doesn't take itself seriously, why should anyone else?
I know it's for humor, but there are other ways for me to get a laugh than playing a game.
No thanks, I'll pass.
