As many of you might know from the weekend betas, pvp is split into many shards or servers. There is no single server for pvp.
How would people feel if some of these servers had special rule sets? I feel like this could alleviate some of the tension we are seeing for several topics, both here and on the official forums.
Examples:
First person only pvp server.
No addon/mod pvp server.
We would all still be united on the mega server for pve and there people could do as they please.
Opinions?

You mean different ruleset's on Campaigns, since there is not a "PvP server", right?
Something like this:

Good stuff, thank you for sharing. I had not seen this information before. Makes me a little more hopeful.
During the PVE portion of the game you and everyone else are on the mega server. Which is a single server, but still instanced to some degree.
PVP is actually very different. There are multiple PVP servers that you view from an in game browser. In that browser you select your home server (primary) and a guest server (secondary). You are then locked into those two servers for a set amount of time or you pay a fee to switch to another server after 24 hours.
Each of these "copies" of Cyrodiil houses around 500 players (I think) from each faction. So around 1500 players total.
Sadly in todays day and age, no one zone is going to be able to house the entire pvp population of a big game like this. So expect to see dozens (maybe even hundreds) of pvp servers.

It probably is not to the degree you were asking for in your OP, but it does show that Zenimax, and the system is flexible that they probably can make some different, and interesting changes as needed. I hope enough people feel the same way to get some of those opened up down the road.
Cheers!

Zenimax is calling those "campaigns", not servers.
Everyone is assigned at launch a "home" campaign, and can guest, or switch like you had said. I know the nomenclature is a little different, but with them running the game on a mega-server, I suspect the catchy Campaign designation keeps people feeling that it's a single server, and avoids confusion for 'em.
I will attempt to answer this. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
I think ultimately they are suppose to persist for 3 months at a time, but this can be changed.
I think it just resets.
They can choose to stay with it or move to another one.
Yay, someone that is not dancing on my parade for once today!
Ruh Roh Raggy - someone else that didn't read what I posted above. Time to copy and paste!

There will be several "campaigns" for cyrodiil and each campaign pretty much acts like a server specifically for pvp in cyrodiil, there will be many and each will hold about 2k players. The OP is suggesting that they include different rule-sets for alternate playstyles, like one with no addons, one first person only etc
Score resets keeps owned and state of walls etc all persists through the reset (which happens every 3 months)
They really just kind of tossed out the book of how to do MMORPGs, didn't they? Well, good for them. I have no idea if I'm going to even play the game, but it's kind of cool to see a company just make a game instead of adhering to standards like some kind of mindless bureaucrat.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
