I bought D3 for my pc back at release and never touched it after first month. It lacked the fun of D2. I don't see any reason to purchase RoS.

I believe I referenced you in my previous post in this thread. O.o

1000 hours and nothing to show I believe it was in your other posts. Have you played another 200 Hours?

And yeah I am sure there is more to the story about your ban....

I believe him. I played 3 months and off and on afterwards and I never found any upgrades with the exception of this weekend. I don't think I hit near his hours or elites killed but I can definitely believe not getting drops

I got upgrades all the time pre-patch. But then, I didn't use the AH and buy the best gear. I found my own only. So my gear was less than ideal (crap), but the whole point of the game is the item hunt, which the AH ruined IMO. Now it's way better.

I made that mistake to a certain degree. A lot of my gear was bought off the AH but I didn't play enough to be rich. Not one of my pieces was more than 500k lol. I think my stats say I've only collected like 12 million or something like that.

    I believe him as well.

Which is why I stopped playing at around the 100 hour mark, not the 1200 hours he claims.

Anyone who puts 1000+ hours into a game ( which is 41+ days of in game time ) and only then figures out its not for them needs to reevaluate the reason for playing games in the 1st place.

In that case, you should find plenty of upgrades now. I had much better gear (roughly 200k dps going into the patch) and I still found good legendary upgrades that change my build.

In fact, I found a 1300 dps sword just last night, and unfortunately it has no gem slot, so not an upgrade for me and i am saving it for the mystic, and hopefully i can roll a gem slot and make it an upgrade.

I guess I am in the minority here but I did not find classic D3 that horrible. It was not my favorite ARPG pre-patch nor did I find it as compelling as the first two Diablos, but now it has moved to the top spot of current ARPGs for me hence I pre-ordered the expac.

It is not a problem money-wise not least because I had got classic D3 bundled with a year of WoW.  I am in fact only really having to pay for the expac rather than both. Is it expensive? Well yes and no in the sense that it is slightly more expensive than what one usually expects for an expac, but no because I know I will be playing it for untold hours. Games I like are always worth buying because they completely outdo any other form of entertainment as far as enjoyment/money investment goes. If I can afford to pay 12€ for a two hour long movie, I can certainly afford to pay 39 € for an expac I will put hundreds of hours in.

I picked up D3 again recently, after dropping it shortly after release.  I can say that making a brand new character has been fun.  I got him to level 20 in a day and picked up 2 legendary items in that time.  Also, lots of useful yellow drops.  The game definitely feels more fun now that it was originally.  However, I'll have to see how long it holds my attention before I purchase the expansion.  I'm in no hurry and I'm certain it will be available whenever I decide to purchase it, if I decide to.

This is basically it. It is dirt cheap compared to many other leisure activities.

A super hero movie with my kids will cost like $54 (Imax 3D) ... and that is for 2 hours.

A tasting menu at a fantasy restaurant with my wife can costs like $300-500, and that is for may be 3 hours.

Heck, even a good novel at $12 last no more than 2-3 days.

RoS is a steal for me anyway you cut it.

Hee, a good bottle of wine here in restaurant can cost hundreds of USD. I do buy good wine for nice occasions with friends so I have no issues paying money for a game I will enjoy. I understand that people can be doing badly financially but it is hard to tell if the OP is in that situation or more that he doesn't like the game enough. If that is the case, I would wait for the game to come down in price, or just forget it. It is not worth it to spend money on entertainment you don't like.

    Not a chance.

The Diablo franchise is dead to me.

I'm definitely buying it for the PS4.  It was a so-so experience on the computer, but it's much more fun on the console.  I don't care if it's the greatest game in the world, because I'm not buying it hoping to spend hundreds of hours a month there.  It will be something I spend a few hours a week on, more likely.

Once you can get Diablo III and RoS for like $20-$30 or so i might pick it up - if some of my friends pick it up aswell.

Otherwise there is simply too much other stuff that offers more for less.

Nice to see there is another wine enthusiast on the forum. What do you drink?

I am a novice, and i get to like pinot noir in carneros amongst many others. But obviously i have very little experience in the vast sea of wines.

BTW, in restaurants wines are usually market up 2x-3x ... so it is better to bring a bottle, even with corkage fees.

And it is a fun computer game that last for hundred of hours can cost less than a bottle of wine i like.

can you make some recommendations? I should be able to buy Okanagan wines in California, right?

I drink a lot of pinot noir, and merlot for the fruit and soft tanin. Anything similar that you would recommend?

So many games, so little time. I'll probably hold off on getting RoS simply because of all of the games I've purchased recently that I am still working on. Plus Watchdogs soon...sigh.

Damn work, and social obligations getting in the way of gaming fun ;)

There are always haters. D3 already sold 15M boxes.

It is already back up to #5 on the xfire chart.

All indication is that RoS is going to be great, and sell well.

Every game has its haters, and obviously D3 continues to be successful, with or without them.

    No.

I want ladders, rune words and basically much more depth out of D3.

Waiting two years to lolfix itemization and charge me $40 to get something that's still less than I wanted on laucnh?  Sorry, no thanks.

If the game wasn't a D2 sequel then I would be more forgiving but also would have gotten just as bored.

I've spent my money elsewhere.  I did try the latest updates but had no interest after playing 10 minutes.
