[Column] Guild Wars 2: Is This the Game We Were Promised?

I was in the alpha and beta's of the game and I can say that this game turned into a disaster.

if anyone here comment this game was a success please try out the other guild wars games this game was supposed to be a GUILD WARS game.

it was supposed to have GUILDS as center point for PvE, WvW, pvp.

PvE missions and missions for joining a guild would be far more events.

WvW tons of guilds joined this game so many good peoples zadrots,gh,sin,rg all those good guilds you want for hardcore pro level pvp. sadly areanent changed the ideas and should change the name from GUILD WARS to BLOB WARS because what I see these days is pure random blobs desperately trying to press 1 and kill guilds running 28-30. what is so wrong with that???

sure the blob never wins and it's good badges but we were promised a GUILD WARS lost of commanders in every map lots of guild raids lots of priority for it.

after January 2013 we got more damage for arrow cart, lets just say they tried to make it harder for guilds and easier for blobs they failed and they keep trying to push away to make a pug friendly game.

with wildstar, eso out tons of players are leaving because they run 3-5 hours per day In a zone blob never get a fight because when a server got 100 guys in every map and there is no guilds to fight those blobs they simple leave the game.

blobs never fight each other they just want pvd.

and when they do fight its over in seconds meaning there is no point run from keep to keep getting some loot for 3-5 hours.

with wildstar you can do 20v20 40v40 grounds with eso you can do the WvW lil bit of a copy of gw2 and there is less blobing^^

and when everqust next come out it will kill guild wars pve because it's better pve there and it will kill the pvp because the pvp is better......and with pve pvp gone there is a empty dead WvW. Good game.

how can I be sure that everquest next will be able to do this? well they got a good crew alpha beta testers with them pretty much same crew that was in gw2 and those that build the game are actually listening to the ideas for a good RvR game.

in my time in guild wars 2 I have run every evening with 30-35 guys raid in na and sometimes in EU with same group of players. we run in eb or borderlands and when raid start at random times we usually kill a few pugs or guilds then it turns into a zone blob and we kill those peoples too(every time) because we co ordinate the blasts the hammerstuns the waterfields the necro fields while the blob just press 1.

lol when we check friendly ts blob the commander usually say

''DONT THROW THE LIGHTING FIELDS WITH THE WATER OMG''

so the blob is unable to co ordinate what to throw because peoples not in teamspeak or listening so how are they gonna win vs a group doing their job??? :D :D

tbh the only reason 90% of the current guild still play gw2 because it's fun killing pug friendly pugs tbh when a more serious competitive game is out they will abandon ship and there will be shit bad quality in gw2.

tbh those type of games are already out peoples just need another month to get the cash to buy it...

    And thus was heard,

    mind the wind, whispering words

a manifesto was carved in stone, sealed in fire

    never dies,

carried from the corners of Tyria,

brought to heroes in their crossing roads,

Thy shall be heard, it were all lies.

I loved GW1 but just feel a huge disconnect from GW2.  I think I have tried it on four separate occasions now and just feel no immersion.

Anyway, there is zero critical analysis of the game in this article.

sPvP lived up to its expectations... Sure it did. Look at what a huge esport it has become... /sarcasm.....

Wow. I had missed this somehow. The PvE leveling experience was great, PvE at 80 was non-existent or poor at best.

SPvP....Was a complete joke, and still is. Log in right now. How many people are playing matches in SPvP? In a game that has sold over 3 million copies. The Esports thing is laughable, and SPvP has nearly always been dead space, barren of human life since about 3 months after release.

And then you go to say the only saving grace with a reasonably large population throughout the day is a letdown? I just. I don't even. Have you played GW2 at all? Without WvW, the game would have suffered a silent death a long time ago due to all the broken promises from Anet and lack of development/content.

Seriously? How are you and I in the same game? I've been here since launch and I can with out a doubt tell you that sPvP is most certainly not a barren waste land. It had a brief lapse at best however if you go to heart of the mists right now, its jam packed around the clock.

IMO the only thing that seriously needs an overhaul is solo que's, and I would love to see an option that isn't just 5v5. A smaller scale ranked arena would be nice. They could expand greatly with sPvP. How it stands now however is amazing. As for PvE end game is certainly lacking to a degree bro; in all honesty ill never complain about it because I never do anything other than pvp. So its not any sweat off my back

Wow. I don't even play GW2 (never even made it to 80) and know that the game is nowhere near what was promised. Mr. North's article comes across as something written by either a rabid fanboy, or a paid shill. All he does is praise the stuff which came close to what was promised, yet makes no attempt whatsoever to criticize or even point out the stuff which was either poorly done, or not implemented at all (mini-games, for one).

C'mon, MMORPG. You can do way, way better than this. Mr. North sounds like he should be working at TMZ or some other scandal rag site, not a legitimate news outlet.

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

We are born of the blood. Made men by the blood. Undone by the blood. Our eyes are yet to open. FEAR THE OLD BLOOD.

Agreed, the population is the game is really healthy in almost every area.   There has been a pretty big resurgence over the past few months.  I have seen two of the guilds I am in grow exponentially during this time and both are now full.  Most of those players are fairly active as well.  While PVE could use some fixes and the new ones were meh, the population in the game speaks for itself.
