Dragon Age: Inquisition: New Launch Date Announced

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

Dragon Age: Inquisition Executive Producer Mike Darah has posted a new blog on the official site that announces a delay for the highly anticipated RPG from Bioware. The new release dates are: November 18th for North America and November 21st for the European Union. No specific reason for the delay is revealed other than "a few extra weeks...[will make] the game you’ll play all the better".

I’m privileged to be a part of a team that has been working very hard to surpass every measure they’ve set for themselves. That has meant completing huge amounts of game content, fixing bugs both big and small, and improving the overall experience. This last bit of time is about polishing the experience we want you to see. Ensuring that our open spaces are as engaging as possible. Strengthening the emotional impact of the Hero's choices. And ensuring the experience you get is the best it can be in the platform you choose to play on.

Thank you again for your patience and support!

A few weeks is no big deal. That leaves me more time to continue playing Divinity Original Sin and ESO :-). Then by the time this comes out, the new Nvidia Maxwell 880 cards will be out just in time for a new PC :-), though I may get this for the PS4 anyway as it looks like a console game.

    There Is Always Hope!

Completely fine to delay a product to make it ready. It seems they are learning from DA2, though what a lesson to learn from a game that should have been so much better than its predecessor.

Best to delay and get stuff right.

Dead Space - Oooga booga in space

Mirrors Edge - never truly linked with it

Battlefield - utter shit after the 2nd

Crysis - space marine porno, I prefer Metro to this tripe

Need for Speed - nr 2 and arguably Carbon...everything else bland and forgettable

Mass Effect - this series showed the entire gaming world how to shit on a trilogy in 10 min flat for "artistic integrity"

Are all quality products in my opinion

Keep trying. Electronic Assholes produce good games by accident or absorption , Hell I liked the feel of DA 2 better than 1 because I wasn't fantasy superhero nr 200 with access to enough tail to have realistically  swung a 3way if EA was not mentally retarded in marketing things ( Dante's Infernal Piss was specifically marketed as ultra...something  and yet somehow a renegade Commander Shepard couldn't squeeze in between two asari to make some sweet sweet action that would make most Japanese cream themselves ).

Keep trying what?  You pretty much lost all credibility to anything you say by your weak attempt to insult Dead Space.  Basically your trying to say its a survival horror game in space, ok and?  How does stating its genre have anything to do with the games quality?

Omg dihoru, that was some nasty stuff. ME was awesome. 10 minute ending can't make the other hundred hours of pure awesomeness absolute. And stop it with the whole if it is popular it is crap thing. It makes you look like a damn hippie.

Would you still enjoy a cake if the last bite you took of a spectacularly delicious treat contained human excrement? Doubt it, they could have made an utterly forgettable game with a legendary ending and it would be more excusable. Also the term you are looking for is hipster not hippie , different meanings and I do not dislike EA because of coolness factor it gives, I do it because they have earned it with the monumental amounts of effort they put into retarding gaming as a whole and which they continue to do. Second on the list is Ubisoft and third Activision ( Blizzard gets spared nominally because they at least try not to shit on their fan base as much yet ).

If you believe Dead Space was anything to write home about in terms of horror...yeah you really need to play better games, i'd put the first slenderman game above Dead Space which relies on body horror to retarded amounts and with no real edge to it. It is flat and monotonal at best with one good jump scare with the first corpse, allot of grrr that bastard moments and a final twist you could see coming from the other side of the solar system...even if you were blind. The only one that lost credibility is you when you mentioned quality games and EA in the same context. Decent maybe on a good day but quality? Usually the exception not the rule.

Sorry but EA has made some very good games over the years.  Sales verify it, word of mouth solidify it.  A few comments on here can't overtake the years of success and continued playability of these games.  Have they made bad games, absolutely, have they been lazy at times, absolutely.    Just because a small crowd wants to find fault with EA doesn't mean they aren't capable of making good games.  Then there is this site, where it common knowledge that something bad needs to be said to stimulate the conversation.

    Wow...

    I normally don't say this but..UMADBRO?

You seem to use the word 'credibility' but I don't think it means what you think it means.

Really? Are you sure you didn't just google "What's a trendy horror game 2014" and pick like the first survival horror game that came up? First of all, Slenderman is absent of any real story and, secondly, if you want to talk about monotonal, Geeeeesus! Slenderman basically has one good jump scare for the entire experience and then just recycles it over and over. After the first couple of times it's just more frustrating than scary. Slenderman is akin to those little fake mazes that were so popular years ago that flash up some ghastly face on the screen and scream at you.

First Slenderman was trendy I believe in 2012, remember my ex from then trying it and cursing me for not stopping her.

Second off you got the point: Compared to it Deadspace as far as a horror game is tripe, as a shooter with some interesting mechanics and fun moments sure it could work as a decent game but horror game...not really. The Marine portion of AvP 2 had more going for it as a horror game, Deadspace just does not work...even the indestructible enemies are pathetic and the horror element is again body horror which would work if the virus actually mutated living people but as is? Zombies in space led by floating moons which are actually rocks with a goey corpsey center? Let's utterly neglect the fact that apparently every alien race up until humanity was so mind numbingly stupid the best they could do was flash freeze themselves to death.

Also last I checked the fake corpses in Deadspace 1 would jump at you to scare you every single time... I am just glad by the 3rd they have accepted they are not a horror game anymore and just get on with it . Story is sorta interesting slightly but still Davik as far as geniuses go is several chromosomes short of a prefrontal cortex.

This guy is really trying to bring down Dead Space.  The game had an amazing story, graphics, atmosphere, and gameplay which felt smooth.  It even had a good amount of character progression and customization for its genre where you can build weapons from different parts.  Slenderman is a nice little indie game for what it is but all you do is run and avoid slenderman and find some pieces of pages.

    Exactly.

I'll happily wait a bit longer if it makes the experience more enjoyable. :)

What is with all the EA has made this and that lol EA is just the publisher not the developer and every recent game mentioned here that actually has been good over the years is thanks to some of the many developers that EA owns and has bought over those years. So the reason these games are or were good is credited to its developers like Bioware, Visceral, Dice, Tiburon and etc. Granted EA is the boss and makes the calls but the games are not their ideas or creation. Also FYI reason DA2 was not as good as it could have been is due to EA taking staff away from DA2 project  to help with  rushing out SWTOR out which is ironic because SWTOR was still not finished when it launched and in the end DA2 was a rushed product as well. EA has a habit of making bad calls and rushing out games that need more time. So if what they are saying is true and that the delay is for the better then great but at same time delays in the past didn't always mean the game was better for it and that what they say is the truth.
