Tongue in cheek. This is pretty much my minimum expectations for an MMO player. Except perhaps the 25 hrs/w thing. Sometime life gets in the way. But you should still use your time efficiently while in game.
'Sandbox MMO' is a PTSD trigger word for anyone who has the experience to know that anonymous players invariably use a 'sandbox' in the same manner a housecat does.
When your head is stuck in the sand, your ass becomes the only recognizable part of you.
No game is more fun than the one you can't play, and no game is more boring than one which you've become familiar.

I thought this was a hilarious article. As a casual gamer there is some truth to this article and I respect the hard Core gamers commitment. Makes me want to take vacation time from work and raid! Keep the articles coming!
I fail in most of these points, I mean almost all of them and I'm a nolifer who is at the top of the ladders in almost every game I play and I manage to play most games / play them in all aspects if they are worth playing. Opposite of most of these points mean casual, because it is casuals who voice comms/applications/help etc are for. It's casuals who dont have time for every new game. Raiding in reality is casual. Holy shit...
Funny article and like good satire shoots close to the truth of how many self-described "hard core" think. Thankfully, they are a minority.
On "you MUST use voice comms!" I will never come around to that. MMORPGS are to lose yourself in a role and enjoy make believe worlds. 9 times of out 10 voice comms turn into chat rooms where people talk about their latest computer upgrade, sports, their kids grades and also sometimes contain disturbing racist or sexual banter.
The self-described "hard core" are like a rip tide dragging others down into their world.

I agree with this on voice comms. If there is one irritating person in chat I can put them on ignore, but one irritating person on voice comms will take my attention away from the TV.

Never laugh at people who are helping pay to put your kids through school.
Why not? The special olympics make me laugh, casual entitlement is just pure rofl.
I'm sure they're oblivious to you and you're laughing. They're too busy playing the games they asked for and got.
I always thought when watching the special olympics, why is there not a version for people who are just a bit shit? I never laughed at it, they are people who have trained hard and achieved, but I always wondered why there was not a beer-drinkers Olympics.
