However, despite that there are lots of reasons I'd be unlikely to continue playing. The "f2p" implementation is poor, and as a patron once you get started with land, you of course have to remain a patron for ever or lose everything. I'd be happy if this were a subscription game, but I strongly dislike an essentially compulsory subscription together with a cash shop with strong pay to win elements.
The generic nature of the game as many have pointed out is another issue. The appalling music (dated Asian arcade games spring to mind). The boring and dated quest system.
That being said it has shown that there is a strong interest in non-instanced housing, something that other MMOs could obviously latch onto. And people very clearly care about location for purely aesthetic reasons. I put down a house in Marianople purely for the view.

And the pirating is ridiculous. I expect some to do it, but when you have a whole guild sitting in a port just picking off people doing tradepacks, that's not pirating, that's just plain lame. Right now on Inoch, good luck doing any tradepacks across the ocean, or deep sea fishing. You get within 1000m of port and you'll be ganked by a raid or two of 30-100 people, just for a 1-4 tradepacks or fish per ship, then they destroy your ship for a whopping 1 log....once again, a PvP game ruined by the PvP.
And to make it worse, the best pirates are those who bought their way to the top. This guild has everyone in top tier, and have the best ships and everything, you pretty much die within 10 seconds of seeing them lol. PvP games will never work out because in today's games people have no honor, all they care about is themselves. What they do not understand is they are only hurting themselves and the game. After awhile everyone will leave and you'll have noone to PvP, then what are you left with? nothing. The justice system is a joke. The longest sentence I've seen was for a murderer that killed 22 people for tradepacks, he got a whole 44 minutes in jail....that's nothing. It should be like a week!
this will be the first game that I have quit because of poor game support. I played Lineage 2 and Aion for years and never saw so many game breaking issues with botting, exploits and hacks as I do in AA. Not much has been said by Trion to address it, and what has been said leads me to believe Trion really has their hands tied behind their back.
the longer none of this is addressed, the worse the situation becomes.
there are some successful guilds and gamers playing right now, those who really dedicated some time in alpha and beta and knew what they were getting into at release. Im hoping they can fix how land is being sold or grabbed when its destroyed as well as rid the game of the people exploiting most of its mechanics and release their plots in a safe way.
I like the game and particularly like the skill system and the tactical combat it creates but I am just so burned out on linear quest lines I can't stand it for more than a few hours.
I'll probably go back and go through it some more just because I want to see the rest of the world but I'll do it a few hours at a time.
I do not play and do not pay any more. Why, well most of the reasons were already mentioned in previous posts. Shame, because it is really beautiful game and Trion keeps ruining it perfectly.
I guess I'am still looking for a good MMO without OW PVP. Game also feels cheap...very hastily thrown together, very average graphics. Old style MMO with OWPVP thrown in. Big time money grab, instead of trying to give a good product, get ALL the green you can as fast as you can. I could go on but you get the idea!

Because it is insanely easy to escape from jail and to erase infamy/crime points... the justice system serves zero purpose whatsoever... except to get a cloak if you serve on the jury enough times.
Honestly, the biggest issue facing this game is server imbalance... it's why you run into a hundred peeps near trade ports from the other faction. You can't even come up with a hundred peeps at Hasla at any given moment... the other faction just outnumbers you by a landslide.

If you did not get land at launch, and want to try AA now, you are fucked. Owning land, while not mandatory, represents a big part of what makes AA special. Anyway, there are hacks widely in use to grab land when it does become available, so it is really hopeless.
There are other hacks in play. There is an auction house hack that automates buying and grabs resources within milliseconds of the auction's close.
There are bots that go from resource node to resource node, harvesting with impunity.
Another bot makies trade goods, then instantly transports to the turn-in NPC, generating gold without risk and at a rate way beyond what is healthy for the economy.
Last week, I saw a post in the official forums advertising a program that detects and reports trees nearly ready for harvest, including the time left and location. Imagine that: People posting links to hacks in the official forums. Shows you how utterly powerless and completely disrespected Trion and XLGames are by its user community.
Allegedly, there's a hack where another player can screw-up your ping and cause the game to disconnect you.
Reports against these bots are a joke. The official AA forums are filled with heart-broken people posting how a bot or hack they reported earlier is still in operation.
Trion and XLGames are impotent against these game-wrecking issues.
Stay far, far, far away from this game. Keep your wallet closed.
I played as a freebie for a week... Dont get me wrong, I always drop money when the game is worth it to me but this game takes pay to win to a whole new level. And to the guy claiming gw2 is just as p2w as this, he dont know what hes talking about....
Everything in the cash shop in gw2 can be earned without real life money if you want to grind it out bad enough, plus the items in that cash shop are not need to have's. The closest thing in gw2's cash shop that could be considered p2w was that stupid continue coin for SAB, that made my eyebrows lift but not too much.
Also about AA, even though I liked the sandboxy feel it had it played out too much like an old school mmo.... im tired of the tab targeting click 1,2,3,4 win or lose based off gear.... Im too spoiled now by the action mmo's like TERA or GW2 and Wildstar... thats the direction I want modern mmo's to go in... I like dodging and evading attacks based off twitch reflexes.
I couldn't get myself into ArcheAge. The questing is so awfull and terrible. (Maybe, because, I've been playing WoW too much, enjoyed every quest since 2006). I really like the pirate aspect. Mainly, because I like oceans/seas. That was byfar the most enjoyable part of the game. To sum everything up: I tried, but I couldn't enjoy the game fully.
Server imbalance is gonna happen in any competitive MMO unless the developer micromanages things a LOT (which goes against the spirit of freedom in an MMO if you value that). Strong people attract strong people. Why be enemies with a strong person when you can band together and defeat weaker people and thus both of you benefit and gain more strength and loot from that? Furthermore, strong people tend to share the same belief as other strong people, and thus establish friendships with each other more too (by "strong", I guess you could say "hardcore")
I'm a guy that wants to play this game to maximum efficiency and defeat others, and that guy over there also wants to play this game to maximum efficiency and defeat others. We think along the same lines! We should be friends!
Thus, in any competitive MMO that is also competitive in terms of social aspects, it's VERY typical to see guilds of strong people rise to the top. To prevent this would require a lot of management and competency on the part of the developers that just usually isn't worth the cost in the end (beyond what's needed to keep the whales spending, in some cases).
There's a reason why facebook games are constantly releasing new servers for people to play on. They aren't willing to balance the old servers where the strong settled in so they release new servers so more people could flock to there, start the money fights, and then just release more servers when those reach maturity (I know of some facebook games that like, have HUNDREDS of servers for the game despite how any server below #99 is a ghost town)
Of course, Archeage isn't the type of game that can do that (XLGames, guys, ur doin' it wrong!). I'm just using that to illustrate the point of how it's oftentimes cheaper for devs to just let the strong rule the place and release new servers. Unfortunately not as much an option for a game like Archeage but eh.

This sums up the game if your a patron that got stuck in the queue, didn't get patron status or both. Tried to get in the day headstart started and it was a complete train wreck. Once I did get in I didn't have my Patron status so I couldn't place the small or large scarecrows let alone a house. Now once I do get my patron status all the plots have been taken up and the best you can hope for is the small scarecrow farm. You can still make trade runs with the small scarecrow but it's going to be slow going. Without at a minimum the large scarecrow your completely screwed and the patron subscription becomes a waste of money. Some will say on their forums that your going to lose the labor benefit but what they don't understand is you don't need it with the small scarecrow.
The there's the ones telling people you just need to put in some work and buy your land. That currently for a small cottage can be up to 1000 gold and the large scarecrow up to 800 gold. Seems there are all these people that have been dying to try their real estate agent skills and they are in AA. Now t o the working part. I can do two trade runs a day that net me about 20 gold if I spend my whole time in game doing nothing but that. There are other that say use the auction house or go mine. One of those activities you get to sit in front of the PC and play day trader the other you get to simulate a bot and both will bore you to tears. The meat of the game for some is the crafting/pve/pvp in that order and if your landless as they say your screwed.
All in all the game is a complete train wreck with bots and hacks of every flavor you can imagine The community is the most toxic that I have ever experienced and faction chat is a gold spammers paradise. Wonder if these real estate simulator people realize they are sending people right to the gold sellers with their practice of cornering and hoarding land. But I'll be like many and just let my patron expire since it's a total waste of money that can be spent somewhere else.
1. The quests are super dull. The only remotely good quest is the one on the pirate ship. I made it to 28 before I lost my will to live. I could design better quests.
2. Combat is super dull.
3. The world is generic and asinine. I couldn't care less about it or the stupid NPCs.
This game is just like any other asian mmorpg, sandbox?? hell no!! so i make a quit thread in trion forum and complain about labor pots, bots, hackers, gold spammer, can't get any land, farm etcc and this is what i got from trion.
You have been banned for the following reason: Purged user.
Date the ban will be lifted: Never
hahahaha oh man, i'll never come back to trion game for sure, just look at their forum gold spammer, porn, bots hack every single day because they can't do anything, this game is already bot and hacker in kr and rus server but still they can't fix it , i bet this game will die in a year.

Pretty much this, game is filled with hackers, bots and spam and the forum is filled with hackers, bots, spam and porn. And this is an AAA title?
I'd have to say the combat was really below average, and the extremely boring quest-centric nature of the very long "tutorial". I've done that in so many MMOs, I just didn't feel like continuing. But the last straw for me was when I found out that I needed LP to even identify reward items I started receiving early on (somewhere around Lv.10? Can't remember). I'm fine with games having you buy items to identify or have you go to an NPC, but it blew my mind to learn that I had to use LP, a "currency" (sort of) that I already badly lacked. That blew my mind and just made me uninstall the game.
My wife and I played for the first time tonight and it took us 10 min to know this is not a game we want to play. Seemed so cheap right off the bat. The animations when running are just bad. The clutter on the screen fills up 3/4 of the play area. The question mark over the NPCs head was 3 times bigger then the NPC. Everything felt so fake and plastic and the combat is just bad. Funny because the char creation was awesome and I thought I was walking into something quality. Not sure if it gets better as you level but it felt like a cheap Asian F2P game you download to kill time when your MMO you pay for is down.

I quit because of Trion's immense misconduct.
However, despite that there are lots of reasons I'd be unlikely to continue playing. 3 reasons i quit:
1. Open world pvp always turn into a gankfest.
2. Pay to progress.
3.Repetitive pve questing
But 2 things that are top notch in my opinion:
1. Scenery and graphics
2. Class system
1.) too much grind, aka forced into doing boring things to achieve something
2.) worst community i have ever encountered in a video game
3.) disappointing pvp, besides ganking low levels while questing not much open world pvp

I never started playing simply because of this, no point, I'm unemployed!

Yes it is.

I agree that you should not feel superior... it Ain't™ right.

4. WoW was the first MMO.

Purged user.

hahahaha oh man, i'll never come back to trion game for sure, just look at their forum gold spammer, porn, bots hack every single day because they can't do anything, this game is already bot and hacker in kr and rus server but still they can't fix it , i bet this game will die in a year.
Pretty much this, game is filled with hackers, bots and spam and the forum is filled with hackers, bots, spam and porn. And this is an AAA title?
