Will fishing be harder? As in fighting the fish, making lures and poles.

Do these updates mean that archery will actually play out like archery now?

i dont like this. Why limit player choices? This is the same reason the skill roulette in The Secret World sucks, because its too linear and forces the player to waste points on skills many people dont want so they can get the next one.

I can't think of any talent system or skill system that gives players the option to spend points how they see fit.  There are always fillers one must go through.

It's not like each point you spend is pointless.  Each rotation of the constellation will ensure each point spent is meaningful and useful for your character.

EQ's AA system allows you to apply AA points to any tree that you want.

What's kind of disheartening about this approach to me is that it's forcing us to spend points in a skill tree that we might not necessarily want.  To me.. that's a waste.  Say, for example, that at any given time... the constellation allows you to apply a point to 1 of 2 branches.. then rotates to reveal 2 new branches.  What if you the next available branches don't really align with the type of build you are working toward.  You HAVE to spend a point in one of them in order to rotate the constellation again.  To me.. that's a wasted point.  Not the end of the world.. but an unnecessary annoyance.

Would prefer that I can earn 'X' number of points.. and apply them all to one branch or spread them across multiple branches.  That's the flexibility that I feel most players will want.  That allows me to really specialize my build if I want to.

At the end of the day though.. it's better than nothing.  I am looking forward to the system still.

The latest article about it on this site mentions that each constellation will have options for all play styles.

Thanks for the breakdown OP, easy to understand and thorough. Also appreciate the multiple notes to check out the original article.  Great job!  :-)

    Thats a long list.....

but when will we see these things? Starting next week? Or will they be spread over a 2 year periode starting somewhere next year?

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

i can see why they would rotate the constellations. Letting you just dump all your points in one category doesn't make for better design as people tend to max out their most important stat. Also you will be able to get to higher tier unlockables earlier.

Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.

That's a great question as there are doing a great job pumping out promises with no dates attached to them. So far I would have a hard time believing they plan to add much more than extra VR levels as they seem to think that larger numbers are what this game is in need of.

I would love to play this game if and when they actually add some of the things they have been talking about like the Champion System and Thief/DB systems. Adding lots of bug fixes every patch to make the patch notes look bigger is not a good thing but just a reminder of why I quit in the first place. Right now in ESO there is not really anything to do at Max level when comparing to other similar budget games in the MMO field.

    Playing- Guild Wars 2, SWTOR
SWTOR Referral Link Get a free Server Transfer and lots of other free stuff for your SWTOR account! Works for both new and previous players.

thats only getting worse, nothing to do at endgame.... Whenyou feel like that...  Because where the veteran levels where actually vetical progression, the champion system is horizontal progression....

which gives you MMOs withouth a carrot on a stick, and thats what many people dont like...

There is nothing wrong with sideways progress as long as players like it, until we see it in play it is hard to say if players will. Adding breadth to a MMO can never be a bad thing though and players are always going to call for top end content, that need will never be satisfied.

So bringing in something that is playable at all levels is a good idea, once we see it in action we can judge how good an idea it is.
