The train is indeed off the rails over there.  Terrible community and the game seems to have brought out the worst in people.   Say anything on those forums or inside the game that is taken as slightly critical of the game and prepare to be hammered with insults and request to go the xxxxxx away.

Just a bad, bad combination.  XL games continues to churn out very odd features like skateboards and baggy jeans, and Trion seems downright amateurish when it comes to how they are handling the Western version of the game.

Trion bit off more than they can chew, here.  And it really shows.

I know, eh? Giving guilty hackers a second chance to play without hacking.... What's this forgiveness shit? What's the world coming to?

Hackers should not be given second chances. They cheated and should be banned that is all.

I'm not sure how they did it in Wushu, but you didn't see players doing it after a month or so. Bots still did it though because it didn't matter if they were caught.

Here's a funny, slightly off topic. The way Snail handled 3rd party gold buy was to perma ban the account, but with one caveat. If a person bought an amount of gold from Snail, that's equal to the amount they were caught with, Snail would strip the 3rd part gold and unband them. I knew a whale who payed 3k usd  to get his toon back image

edit - Imo, I do not think hackers or 3rd party gold sellers should be unbanned for any reason.

24 hour ban for teleport hacking too? I'd expect cheating to be a permanent ban not a temporary slap on the wrist.

I'm also sure those accounts have big internal flags that say "keep an eye on this guy and perma-ban his ass if he does it again"

But of course, that approach, which is just normal operating procedure for all MMOs, lacks the necessary drama for "nail in the coffin" cliched forum threads.

Much more fun to call for the heads of these16-year olds fatties... Who do you guys think these petty hackers are anyways? Career Chinese criminals? The Russian mafia?

I can tell you how they did it:  There weren't enough players playing Wushu after a month to make it worthwhile for hackers and botters to exist.

Not sure that's exactly a great remedy, though.

Yeah, because Trion has given us every indication so far that they actually have a system in place to weed out the hackers they throw back into the pool.  LOL.

I think you are giving them way too much credit.

People who have not yet learned that yes, the rules apply to them also.  This is a good opportunity for them to learn, but instead people like you are all about 'forgiveness'.

I can only -imagine- why that would be, since there are really only two answers and one of them is lack of familiarity with what these filthy scum do.  I don't care if they're 12 or 64, there should be no forgiveness for intentional cheating.  This isn't a ban from society, its a ban from a single game.

I can't think of many first offences in any game that deserves a permanent ban. If you can, that just tells me you have zero idea about how to run anything related to dealing with customers.

These teleport hackers are by and large just dumb kids who were suckered into paying money for the private membership in one of the many MMO hacker forums and probably coughed up even more money for the hack program /  script.

Slap on the wrist for a first offence seems about right.... Now those guys in game using Aryan Brotherhood symbols for their personal emblems or calling themselves Hitler like some are on my server... Yeah, perma ban them with no second chance.

They SHOULD let the Hackers back in, just remove an ability for each fraction. You know, speed hack, get caught, now your toon can no longer turn left; bot hack, get caught, now your toon(s) can no longer us a melee weapon; gold farmer, get caught, now all the gold earned is distributed to the community. Punishment to fit the crime sort of thing. Not to mention that it would be halarious image

No it is not. All the MMOS i played..hackers and botters get no second chance. You hack once.. your account is permanently banned.

Do these hackers really need to be russian mafia to warrant a permanent ban? are you high?

What world do you live in where companies tell customers to stop paying them money?

About the only first offenders who ever get perma-banned in any MMO  are commercial gold farmer/sellers... And them only because they are in direct competition with the MMO company for player's money.

No, I'm not high but you obviously are.

I don't know what MMOS you have been playing all this time then. because so far all MMOS that i played have zero tolerance policy towards hackers and there are no second chances.

I feel fine really i suggests lay off the mushrooms..when you start making references to russian mafia you know you had too much.

Its good Trion wants to take a chance with these people but quit trying to make it sound as if this is a very normal thing for ALL MMOS; because it isn't.

It's an f2p game. You perm-ban their account and if they wish to keep playing, they can get a new account.

All this does is give people even more incentive to hack.

Almost all of my guildmates are now running them including myself. There's simply no reason not too. You have to use them if you want to be able to acquire land and enjoy the game.

There's a 99% likelihood that nothing will be done about it and in the 1% chance they do, we'll just get back our account back in a day.

Dude, I played Guild Wars 2 for 2 years. ArenaNet not only did nothing about the rampant hack use in WvW but they went so far as to ban anyone that complained about it. This will be no different.

You either hack yourself to stay competitive or you just quit now.
