First was AA and now BD

The next will be Bless which is just another faction based WoW clone.

During the OBT of Black Desert, most Koreans were able to reach level 50 in 24-48 hours and stoped playing without much to do after that, BD rapidly went down in the charts.

First was ArcheAge and now BD, the next failure will be Bless. I wonder how much time they need to realise that copying WoW features is what leading to those short MMO hype followed by oblivion.

You can't make a rush to cap WoW style MMO if you can't provide a vast end game content as WoW does. And for me I'm not interested in rushing to cap, but in the journey and the socialization in open world when it comes to sandbox.

I couldn't even find Black Desert on the gamenote ranks, in the list nothing really changed, Lineage 1 is in 4th position, the most popular MMO in Korea. WoW was in a high position when WoD launched, but after devastating the content, koreans left the game in droves, and WoW went back to 29th position.

Not if they don't sell the larbor points in a cash shop. I don't know enough about BD to say I'm with or against it, but trade energy systems are cool. AA should have never decided to monetize theirs though.

edit - Level cap in a day sounds awesome btw. Isn't BD a pvp focused sandbox?

To each their own - I am a fan of point based crafting systems - prevents a single player flooding the market with 1000 swords in 1 day.

Yes there are a billion other ways of limiting crafting without a point pool, but since the same point pool is tied into gathering as well - it as easy to keep track of and manage.

I love how AA did it - especially the crazy amount of XP crafting gives.

    Unless it's monetized.

Just the idea that it's good to be kept at a disadvantage unless you spend real cash is utterly absurd.

The real question is is the game run by the RNG mechanic in every facet of the game?

If yes the cash shop p2w model will be close behind.

Black Desert and ArcheAge are not PVE focused games - they are primarily PvP games. Playing either game for PvE experience is sort of pointless, if you want PvE there are LOTs of existing PvE games to chose from.

This is why quick leveling, do you can PvP at max level without grinding for months.

You do realize that Black Desert is not released in Korea yet - so you won't find it ranked.

Also I don't see any point in comparing niche open world PvP games to PvE centric themeparks like WoW.

Apples and Oranges - completely different playerbase targeted.

Calling AA and BD "wow style MMOs" is hilarious as again they target a completely different player.

Lineage 1 is a open world pvp game where you don't rush to cap in one day, and it also has a better pvp system than AA and BD that's why no  open world clan-based pvp game can dethrone L1.

Hey, lets start a new trend of making up games that haven't even become an itch in someones pants yet and predict it's future, that way we can all wallow in our disappointment of life in general even longer than we do now.  We're clearly not maximizing or disappointment factor if we don't go looking for it under every rock we can turn over.

I for one don't care what anyone says about the game... I'm still going to play it.  It's going to be free to play after all.  There's no loss to try it.  Even if it only lasts 24 hours, it's still 24 hours... oh wait, that would be a positive.  Damn game, how dare they put out a free game and only give me 24 hours of content to consume!

    There, now we're all happy.

Having no end-game content does not make it PvP game.

PvP game is not some generic themepark crap *minus* raiding. It has to be built around PvP (ArcheAge and Black Desert arent). Playing either game for PvP experience is as much of pointless as playing them for PvE - they offer neither.

Doesn't BD have the whole build a city and then raid other cities thing as end game?

Telling game developers what's not acceptable before they develop a game is not wallowing in disappointment. Otherwise we can all bury our heads in the sand and have nothing to say when a game releases and it's crap.

Not everyone wants to grind  endlessly to level up - at least not the western playerbase.

You do know that L1 is not very popular outside of Korea?

I don't know Korean which is sad, because nothing is better than L1 when it comes to open world pvp.

How much playtime have you put into Black Desert?

Aren't you dismissing it a bit prematurely?

Every game I rushed to cap I didn't stay long, WoW I played for 3 weeks during WotLK, 4 days to get 80 and 2 weeks and few days pvping in arenas until a get bored and never came back. GW2 it took me 2 weeks, 4 days to 80, and the rest in RvR, got bored never came back.

Due to my historic, the chances of the same happening in BD are very high.

I played L1 for 7 years  until NA servers were shut down and L2 for 4 years(only stopped becaused they destroyed the open world pvp in post-GoD updates and also turned the game P2W).

It seems to me that you're obsessed with WoW's original features that you see them in any MMORPG. Obviously every developer tries to copy WoW in 2014. You make me laugh boy.

I thought your kind was already ancient but it seems relics like you still surface with comments once in a while.

Skyforge is money grab. Designed with only $$$$$$ in mind. Also its PvE game, with laughable pvp mechanics.]

Though BD got OP its works diffrent to OP in AA, and its PvP centric game.

So like it was already said, apples and oranges.

Lots of MMOs have greatly increased experience gains in the betas for testing purposes.

But, thats not really important. I guess some people are forgetting that BD has no level cap. Yeah, infinite levels.

Also, heard that the experience needed for level 51 is more than levels 1 through 50 combined. And that getting to level 70, where you'd be ready for the end game, would take months.

Also, seems like people just didnt jump to conclusions they jumped over them.

My greater concern is will BD be able to do a better job controlling hackers, botters and other cheaters better than XLGames did with AA.

History of Korean made MMORPG's doesn't point to it.

We don't even know the details on "stamina system" in BD as it's not finalized yet.

The first iteration of cash shop for Black Desert is out in Korea - there are appearance items, rename and character change look items, some expand storage space options and boost XP potions.

    Nothing on stamina pots yet.

As long as they don't make it "bound on account" - I have no issues with crafting pool potions

If they do bound on account and only way to get it via spending real cash - no thanks

All of that sounds awful. I guess BD is off my list now.

Non account or character bound cash shop items is almost guaranteed to be P2W or at least make the idea of a player economy an illusion. It's a huge problem.

Reselling of cash shop items creates completion with the publisher who has to figure out how to keep 1 player buying the items to resell, while being competitive enough so the next player will want to make a decision to buy from the 1st player or buy from the cash shop. The difference for the publisher is they get 2 sales instead of one. But at the same time, they have to make sure the 1st player also makes a bit of money in return. So it's profitable but cannot corner a market.

To say nothing of the flood of money coming in from Whales in what should be a player driven economy.

No its not. XL games made AA and Pearl Abyss made BD. If you mean the same developers are on both teams that hardly matters just look at WoW and Firefall as an example of that utter fail. Or jake song with Lineage and AA lol.

Its not just coincidence its a copy and paste of the labour free to play system from AA.

Alot of the same people are making this game, and if thats any indication, their programming is absolute garbage.
