The support and patient crew are usually "You did so good!" or "Way to go, you got that quick!", and the dismissive crew are more apt to say something along the lines of "Your welcome for your carry".
Sounds like you play with a predominantly adolescent (possibly even new to the internet) player base. Can I ask what games you play that you experience that in?
WoW was absolutely horrendous for it, the game itself was pretty good, but the community - with things like this, drove me out and kept me out every time I've tried to go back. It's the only game I've quit exclusively because of the community.
It was pretty bad in FFXIV ARR when it first re-released. It's not nearly so bad and the community there is pretty good.
I don't know if it's adolescent people necessarily, but it's definitely prominent in the min-max "watch the strat on youtube" crowd.
The only game I can think of off hand where I didn't see this at all was LOTRO.
the ratio of female to male characters has got to be around 75:25 in the games I've played, so that would imply the majority of players are getting treated better. That's nice.
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

SCIENCE!!!!!!!
I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.
This poll really needed to have different choices. Especially based on how many took the generic answer route.
I choose to play male and female characters both, but definitely not because I am expecting players to treat me differently. In ArcheAge I made both a female and male Firran character and ended up deleting the male because of the animations with movement and combat. I also liked the greater details the females had. In WoW I made mostly Blood Elf females because the males we too feminine and their movement was awkward and jokes weren't funny. In FFXIV I made mostly male characters because SE did a great job with the male models and especially the Miqo'te.

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
