Have fun with the 1/6th of the original C1 drop rates.
It's not a true classic Lineage 2, it's a cheap clone of Dimensional Strangers (Ertheria) running modified C1 scripts with 1/6th drop rates. Tried the classic RU release for 2 weeks and quit, it was a sad thing seeing C1 areas and GoD interface and game mechanics.
I play RU and it's the same old c1 sure just updated UI and what not, but it still feels the same.... I don't mind the updated interface and smooth graphics it's all just quaility of life to me. Lets not say GoD game mechanics because it nothing like GoD...
What is playing with1/6 rates like? I read that people are unable to afford soulshots / spiritshots or even gatekeeper. I can imagine it changes the gaming experience quite a lot comparing to original early chronicles.
When you get higher you actually don't really notice it... if you're in a good group for killing mobs at a fast rate you'll make more money than you spend. Early on it sucks, but later it gets better.
So is that really 1/6 of the "original" drop rates? what's the point of that? It's not like Lineage 2 ever had generous drop rates.
I do not really know whats behind it. I consider original L2 rates to be quite hardcore already.
It is not a deal breaker for me, but I would certainly prefer original rates over classic ones.
Yeah I would take the original rates, but this way bots won't make much money before they are banned!

Actually they would make more money.
As both players and farmers are making less money the farmers will charge more for smaller amounts of currency.

Key word is smaller amounts of currency. Bots will be making small amounts of currency because they can't get highlevel to farm better mats, adena, and better stuff in general. This means that a live level 60 solo or in a CP with spoiler will make 5-7 times as much or even more as a bot so there's no point in buying adena from those bots at such a crazy high price. I don't see many high level player risking there accounts to buy adena, but I could be wrong.

Nah, they will still do it. People bought currency all the time with high level characters. Not everyone is going to want to play the market or have a spoiler. I wouldn't but I used to make my money by buying low and selling high. It just got to be too much at higher levels (78).

Next update is on friday lets try and hit 15k we currently at like 13,500+ need more interested player to register, also what would be another good way to spread the word to MMO fans that might not know this project is in the works?

I disagree.....making adena harder to get, while maintaining the same cost for goods / services will create a higher demand for adena. In a free market (such as L2), high demand w/ low supply in something creates a void / opportunity for someone to fill (BOTS).
That's all moot if the publishing house keeps their promise on strict botting standards....but if they are laxed, or decide to take a lighter touch..as to not lose revenue....the bots will hold a distinct advantage over normal players in terms of farming currency & resources.
They are not concerned with levels, and will be able to put more gold on the market than a normal player because they aren't buying consumables that aid in gaining XP. They are able to operate for longer sustained playing sessions than the average normal player...occupying farming locations, and will have nearly all the leverage in setting market prices for in game resources....which will be artificially higher because they want to encourage purchasing of adena needed for said resources on the black market.
During Prelude / C1....I remember a guild mate purchasing 100k Adena for 1 Thousand USD! So don't ever underestimate the lengths people will go to gain advantage in a game....some people have more disposable income than others.
I understand throttling the drop rates of currency & resources serve a purpose in helping pace server progression....but putting such a high value on currency in a game, where cheating through automation of gameplay has been proven time & time again, is just asking for someone to serve that gap of demand vs supply of adena.
Heres to hoping they can effectively keep BOTS from spoiling (no pun intended) the free market.

That wasn't totally my point thought, I understand that bots will be in the game, but like you said if Innova keeps there promise to ban these bots quickly then they have to keep creating accounts and paying the Fee to make them go online. Thats just one thing to keep them at bay for a little.
The main point was a levle 10-20 character isn't going to be able to farm enough mat per hour then say a CP party of level 60s that farm 3-5 a day getting HIGH level mats and adena they can produce there own income. I'm not saying that people wont buy adena because I know there are billionaires that play the game and can spend thousands of dollars buying adena. Having a few people like that won't really effect the whole game. This game is built on a since of teamwork and community now if that one person spends thousands buying adena and gives it away to his clan and they all become geared out then it could become something fearsome. In NA there was a clan The White Order the leader spent thousands on adena and was powerful for awhile, but later they ended up losing everything because they were unskilled and bought there way to victory for a short time.
Back to point If innova keeps promise and bans bots so they are only able to farm low amount of adena/mats it won't effect the level 60s+ that have no need for those mats. It all comes down to how well there Anti-botting software works (Frost) and how effect we are at spam reporting bots.

The lineage 2 community owns the server not bots!
Even if Innova bans professional botters, there is still an incentive to bot if your revenue covers all operating expenses (including cost to purchase new subscriptions due to banned accounts) + delivers a decent profit margin that makes the time / effort worth while.
For example, if a professional bot farming team spends $2000 a month on operating expenses (salaries for human workers, electricity, license for bot programs, new subscriptions to cover banned accounts) and they earn $12,000 a month selling Adena, resources & power leveling services....they still net $10,000 a month. I'll gladly spend $1,000 a month buying new subscriptions for banned accounts if it means I'll earn $10k in profit. I'll do that all day long, and so will Innova...because that is a regular subscription revenue that they otherwise might now have...especially in a game that is VERY mature on the market and a VERY niche audience.
The only way bannings work is if it is not economic for the professional botting teams to operate. This means that Innova is banning the bots before they are able to get enough play time in to farm enough to cover their costs.
I also think bots working in the, relatively easy to achieve, zone of level 10-20 range can be effective farmers. Yes, a high level group might pull in bigger fish, but the farming bots that operate around the clock will earn more because of volume. Botting teams also don't have to share their resources with the members in the farming party. Real players, which might belong to different guilds or alliances, will split the bounty and each individual player will walk away with a much smaller yield than 1 person operating 5 other characters with botting programs.
Again, you eliminate this problem by either reducing demand (make items cheap to purchase) or increasing supply (increase drop rates). Banning bots (some of the time) does not address the root cause, and is only a mitigation strategy.
I've played on Innova's EU Core server for a while and I can tell you that they are way better at keeping bots off their servers than NCWest.
Here's my experiences: Played on Innova's server for a while, several months, never saw one bot or RMT spam, ever. Still to this day.
Logged into NCwest to make new char: Immediately chat is spammed with gold sellers, and bots are everywhere. And when I mean everywhere I mean EVERYWHERE. SO I petition and get a response that basically says that if I see a bot to report it and they will look into it... right.
I have faith in Innova to stop botters on Core and on their new Classic server. They have done a great job so far and there's no reason to believe they won't in the future. No matter what, there's no way it could ever be as bad as ncwest right now. lol
GK server now has a peak of players below 3k (2.8K-2.9K), Shilen + Maphr + Eva that will be merged soon have a peak of 2.4K players.
Considering that the hype of Russians was at the moon comparing the the EU zone, I don't see future in a classic EU, it is just a matter of time until it goes F2P(aka P2W).
Not to mention that the drop rates are 6 times lower than the original L2 and they have also added lots of money sinks on this classic version.

Not to mention in Korea Classic there was a merge of 3 dead servers in one server on April 22 (Giran + Elf + Dark Elf servers = new Giran server).
Because if you knew about l2on.net you would know that those stats are false. They used to be right till febuary but now they aren't. Also 2--3k is plenty for 1 server... have you even seen RU raid bosses fights.. 300 vs 250ish over 500 people yeah I don't think i need more than that.
So I played this game mainly during C1 and maybe some of C2-3, problem is it was so long ago I really didn't know any long term issues with the game outside of botting. I was a bit confused when NCsoft merged all the classes in GoD and combined with NCWest's really really bad track record with releases in the West made me stay away from it as it moved in C4 and forward. I don't remember my reasons but the grind wasn't one of them. I think I had a 76 Ghost (Hunter?) and a Warsmith and I did enjoy the ease of obtaining materials and soulshots along with the NPC buffers in later Cronicles, call me casual for liking it idc. I played with a group back in C1 that had multiple dummy guilds they would use to swap ownership of castles and while the buffing NPC in town was silly, we had Bishops/Buffers sitting in our castles that ran macro scripts and would buff you when you said a specific phrase so I fail to see the difference. I never minded the grind or the grouping aspect, but I loved playing archer classes and remember back in previous chronicles that the SS usage was just so outrageous you could not afford playing it without a max level crafter, combining that with never owning my gear using loaned B grade sets from the guild to add to that.
Looking at the site it doesn't really give a whole lot of information, but I have a feeling they are targeting the players that knew the changes from C1-C5 and GoD moving forward. But outside the GoD changes I don't know how I feel about leveling a Warsmith and Hunter AGAIN at 1/6 rates with all the money making issues back then. I may have been playing the game wrong so someone is more than welcome to set me straight, its been so long so I don't recall. I didn't mind leveling a warsmith per se but as I recall it was just a Auto attack with soulshots class, and my god was it the most boring thing to level. How are updates being handled, what are they "removing" or changing. Once again I combed their site and don't really see much information. The removal of the cash shop and making it purely P2P, hell the fact that NCWest has nothing to do do with it is alone enough to play this game again despite it being just as I mentioned above though. I assume if they plan on patching the game to C5 while maintaining the hardcore aspects of the game and removing the casual QoL changes? If they are as good at removing botters as some of the previous posters here mentioned it may still be worth the ride.
Bump!! 1 day left till they announce the current subscription required left hopefully none, but lets keep spreading the word so we can have a lively and interactive community.

L2 classic was doomed from the start. I was gonna make a pk toon to have some fun until I heard its going to be pay to play with 1 / 6 rates? Its a cash grap and I give it one month before people start complaining about what they should have done different.

Wrong!
Prove that.
Just see the real time statistics on RU servers:
http://l2on.net/
If you click in each of them you can see graphics displaying their current max capacity.
Shilen + Maphr + Eva will be merged in one single Shilen server:

Well this site also just posted a commentary article titled "Is PvP the new MMO fad?"
Should really link the article I mean i'll go look for it, but for a heads up next time.
L2 classic was doomed from the start. I was gonna make a pk toon to have some fun until I heard its going to be pay to play with 1 / 6 rates? Its a cash grap and I give it one month before people start complaining about what they should have done different.
