Last I checked mmos that sell levels or items are still going strong so don't agree on the doom and gloom.

then you didnt overpaid and it is useless that you even mentioned it

Last I checked p2w games are not on top of the list and many are just surviving - please give me an example of p2w game that is on the top of the charts (and i hope you know we are talking about p2w games not about games that sell ingame items, cosmetic etc)

What you consider P2W and what someone else considers P2W will be different. Hence why I was specific on what is being sold for RL cash.
GW2, WOW sell levels and they are doing fine.
Despite the cry for the ' doom of wow' it still has 7million. GW2 sold 5 million.

I mentioned this before; it is astonishing to see this many people concerned with how I spend my money.

It shows what PvP games are really all about, and no, it's not about more realism and immersion. It's about cowards hiding behind a screen to they can bully other defenseless players without any risk of direct retaliation like there would be if they acted like asshats in "real life". -Jean-Luc_Picard

Personally PaytoWin is wrong in my opinion , PaytoKeepUp works for me. Like many have mentioned, I do not have hours and hours to grind out a dungeon over and over again till the wee hours of the morning. It will never happen. I have responsibilities now.

In addition for instance, a game like Wildstar going FTP. The developers, Server bandwidth, upstart costs etc must be made up somehow. The investment is unreal for what most people take for granted. You play the game to level cap in one month then quit because you you don't want to pay the subscription. Droves of people leave for the next game they can play to level cap and quit. MMO Devs cannot make a multi-million dollar game and lose money on it. So micro-trasactions are the only way to get people back with a FTP model. If you make those micro-transactions cosmetic only, guess what, they aren't going to make money either.. People here that have jobs, like to get paid as do developers, and for those of you that do not have jobs, you'll find out that getting paid is survival in the real world.

Play the game any way you want. Live and let Live. You can hate the game but don't hate the player and ultimately people decide with their wallets.

Lastly it's a game. Come on. Who gives a shit....

Yet another P2W thread. My standard response:

P2W has been in MMOs from almost the very beginning and wide spread. It's apparently the legalization of it that makes people squeamish.

If you allow players to have an advantage over other players by spending money then the game is pay to win.  Some games can be pay to have it quicker. Many of my fellow gamers already pointed this out with their comments. Some games can be pay to look cooler with cosmetic upgrades. Games like these I have no problem with. The problem is a huge percentage of games that give you a significant advantage if you spend a ton a money. These type of games should be avoided by any gamer with a soul.  I won't name names but  I have seen a ton of browser type mmorpgs that explicitly offer a huge advantage to the cash shop player.

It's really only a "debate" because a select few with ties to these companies want to deny its existence than actually arguing the detriments. It's easier to say something doesn't exist wben there isn't any benefit to the system aside from additional income for the company. Make no mistake, there are certain individuals on these forums with an agenda whom are either paid by the company or have "friends" at such company and are really just here to handle the negative PR the said game/company has by engaging in these practices. I'm not going to name names, but those of us that have been here a while know who I am talking about.
