.. and in a long and very interesting article posted by him, he says that Star Citizen as has been pitched (larger scope than the original) will never come out, unless they start to cut things, and, at the same time, such thing happening is also a certainty of a catastrophy, due the constant glorious anti-establishment speech of Roberts plus his marketing approach, a continuous reminder to the world of cash grabbing that never ends, associated with lack of practical results.
He also recommends people to stop to fund the game, letting implied that if CIG stopped to encourage this, in the future they could have a chance to be well received and less criticized with what needs to be done if they want to see one day, the project becoming reality or even releasing a proper basic level of that.
It's like a management of expectations I would say, going to a more low profile attitude and just trusting more that can sell more copies after release, instead unnecessarily bringing too much people based on hype and dreams earlier. Kind of, let people be surprised instead having 1500% of expectations for a game that in the day one, won't come not even in 50% of what is has been pitched and probably, not without severe downgrades, to guarantee a market, reputation, and possibility to evolve in its future, without taking always too long.
People can call the guy arrogant, and accuse him of failing in his ventures in the game industry, but he knows the deal, recognized his issues and how such dreams does not fit with the reality of the industry/market, and is far to be an ignorant uninformed person.
Derek Smart should probably keep his nose out of other gaming companies business. If he's looking to get hired on at CIG, this is the wrong way to do it.
So he should shut his trap and get in line like the rest of them at CIG ... or leave CIG, as some have done, and simply keep their trap shut for fear they may get black listed in the industry.
.... And this is the best solution you can come up with?
The man is speaking up to try and save others from a scam. We need to encourage more people in this industry to do the same, not discourage them by suggesting that they keep their trap shut.

You DO know that Derek Smart is not working On Star Citizen and never has worked on it, do you not? That he is not an employee of CIG or any of its contractors - and never was.

who would hire anyone with this track record, epic review disasters
It´s kinda funny the SC naysayers can now be officially put in the DS fan club, he is now the king of them all and shall forever be associated to him and in an eternal bond !
DS saying SC will fail actually can only mean one thing: It will be the best game ever made and will be finished sooner than we think, that´s even better than I expected it would turn out.
I find it funny people argue over time limits and weather the game gets done.
I only look at the game design and does it look any good.
All i see is a single player module, something i am not interested in and a weak space sim that will likely have very little content and of course that boring space maps with that boring star texture pasted onto it the walls.I see loading screens ,instances almost everything in the game design smells of SINGLE player game design ,NOT a MMO.
Even the game world, you can say well it is super large space ,lots of players.Well you won't hardly ever see those players and when you do it is likely with Radar, guess what ,i can't stand Radar in my games, never have and never will.I like the element of surprise and strategy, the problem is in a space game with sliding ships and limited choice you can't have it,so it comes down to ship modules and radar and lock on ,nothing of which imo is very tactical.
Furthermore i like many don't want a pvp only game. The fps single player module will likely last about 1-2 weeks then what, basically play Eve online for the rest of your tenure? The pvp is not only a weak idea but it does one other thing that i detest,it further feeds the CASH SHOP,who on earth wants a cash shop influenced game?NOT ME !!.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Did you read the post I quoted? My statement will make more sense to you if you do. I quoted it in my post for a reason, after all. ... and a bit of reading comprehension makes it clear that I am referencing others that have left CIG, and not Derek Smart in specific.
They are awesome guys at CIG, they have done what many many MMO devs have tried and failed to do in the past, its literally unprecedented in modern MMO history, these guys have actually made a successful business out of selling items that don't exist, for a game you cannot play, no really, its an outstanding achievement, it really is
The story continues. CIG send Derek Smart his pledge money back, which is perfectly legal according to the Kickstarter rules. He did not ask for it. He sounds pissed. This basically denies him any legal basis to ask anything from CIG.
Hmm, looks like all this drama is a desperate means by Derek Smart to get some publicity for his own game "Line of Defense MMO". He tries as often as possible to link the names of his games with that of Star Citizen
Check out the rating of "Line of Defense" on Steam ... only 21 out of 102 reviews are positive ("Overwhelmingly negative"). So Derek needs ANY publicity he can get.

This may have to do with his most recent (second) blog (warning : LONG !) which was attacking CIG head on
