I think it plays well, however, there are definitely "issues" with it. One thing they implemented to help the TKing issue is a voting system. If you get TK'd you can "forgive" or "not forgive" the TKer. Multiple "not forgives" gets the player booted from the game. Sounds like a great system on paper but as soon as you add "people" to the equation, problems surfaces. There's a large number of "oblivious" people who play this game. BF2 was designed to improve the "team play", but so many "Quake Deathmatch" type people play, that they don't pay attention to their other team mates. When a Commander calls in an Artillery strike, and TELLS everyone its coming in, you should listen and evacuate. No, people stand around and die and then blame the Commander. You can place down mines and if your own team runs over them because they weren't paying attention to the clearly visible skull and crossbones which hovers over EVERY mine you place, they blow up and say it's your fault. Or if you're driving a tank down a road and one of your team mates runs in front of you, you mow them down and it's your fault. And lastly, if you're in the airplane as a co-pilot manning the missle system and your strafing the enemies base taking out tanks and guns, your "visibility" isn't very good. You see everything in black and white for one, and two, it's super grainy. You're targetting recticle locks on potential enemy targets so you know when you have one targetted. However, sometimes your team will be on foot trying take out a tank or AA and they are not visible from your Point of View so in some instances, they become casualties of war. Whenever this happens to me and I see its one of my own planes that does it, I forgive them because I know how difficult it is to see from that PoV, however, 99% of the people go off on you and don't forgive.
So, there's multiple ways the system is abused to get good people kicked off of the server. But overall, I usually have a good time playing it.
To add, there is a bug that makes your teammates names appear red, which causes many many tks. The opposing teams names are red, yours is blue, but the bug causes some of your teammates to apprear "red". Also, agreeing with the above post, tking is very easy. People just dont watch what they are doing, and to add, there are jackasses that try to be plane hogs and will jump in front of you while taking off so you tk them and they will punish you to try and get you kicked.

Oh yea, I forgot about that bug. First time I encountered it I was REALLY confused. I hit the TAB to show the players and realized although his name was red, they were actually on my side.
You forgot about the people that think they can stand ontop of a moving helicopter (you know the part where the big spinning blade is) and blame you for their death when you take off.
This place is full of tree-huggers and tofu fartn' faeries...
I have never gotten the "red" bug, but I have attacked my squadmates since the green squad names are so light, they are almost invisible with the bright terrain.

Im enjoying it.... but Sniper rifles (my prefered mode) seem to have really weak range

It seems really dumbed down to me. I guess they want a mass market audience but as one example the choppers are just ridiculous. The turn rate is impossibly slow (to prevent people from being able to circle strafe) and they fly like they were designed for toddlers.
Also the netcode is as shabby as it was in the original Battlefield, so infantry attacks are more "hit and miss" than "hit or miss". I'm a sniper like Razorback, and there's nothing more immersion breaking than having someone's head square in your sights, pulling the trigger, and nothing happening.
Maybe I'll get it a few months after release when the community mods it and fixes EA's mistakes, but I'm still holding out for Call of Duty 2. If it's as good as COD:UO, it'll be the new best FPS there is.

It seems that shots do not register past 50 meters. Also, the range ^ crosshairs for every 50 meters are not accurate >.<
Ive hit people beyond that range, but the chance of getting a succesul head shot is very small. Think of the bullet instead of slowly droping as its range is increased that its slowly rising (which I still dont understand why they did it that way). Aim for the groin, you'll have a 70% chance of a body shot beyond 50 meters on an stationary target.
