You say crashing, I say normalizing. Lots of businesses do this over time. Industries become bloated, and sooner or later they have to cut back and find a healthy level. Some other industry will fill the gap, and although it could cause a recession in the gaming industry, I am pretty sure the countries in question will survive the Gaming Apocalypse!!!!
But maybe the OP is on to something.  Maybe.. millions of people get cut off by the great Japanese gaming apocalypse and this causes them to become zombies... mindlessly searching for the next gaming fix.

Maybe this is how the end comes to us...

In a related story, the Earth is reportedly about to be burned up by the Sun.  Enjoy those last few billion years while they last.
Japan's recessioin, was linked to the aging population. It hit gaming companies hard.

It was in 2014, spare me your jokes if you don't understand the thread.
Japan has been in a perpetual state of recession since the 90s and the reasons are one of the most debated and least understood economic issues in the world and yet you have no problem magically boiling it down to one cause because you read a few articles on the internet.

yes, because early sigs show many japanese and korean industries are imploding, one is gaming

Japan also has the highest debt to GDP in the world, which is affecting the economy too

gaming is a large industry in korea and japan, it is a measurement stick like any other

So put your wonderful clairvoyance to work and short all Japanese and S Korean gaming stocks!!

Maybe give Warren Buffet a heads up too...

Thank god they are aging populations. They will be slow Walking Dead type zombies instead of the super mutant Resident Evil type. And it will be much easier to kill a horde of granny zombies due to weak bones.

You seem to have issue with this whole TIME thing.  the way short sales work is that you basically are placing a bet that the price of the stock will go down in the future.  Thus, it doesn't matter if a computer is trading thousands of stocks in a millisecond.  So if you are confident that the gaming apocalypse is about to hit Japan you should go and make some money at it!

On the other-hand Japenese indie devs are killing it, making upwards of 500k off of their retro games.

Actually a industry can crash overnight I remember the night the tech bubble burst, I lost almost 160k in 4 hours. Corporate execs turned on each other like rabid animals grabbing all the cash they could as companies crumbled under them. It can happen but to happen to the gaming industry considering how much liquid capital this industry deals with would be almost impossible. We are talking 10's of millions in cash reserves for some of these companies like EA and Nexon

Hell even funcom in house financed TSW off 40 million in bearer bonds they were holding supposedly profits from AO, which I personally to this day think was just laundering money for a criminal syndicate.

It's not the aging that's the issue, it's the fact there are far too many old people compared to young. This is mainly from lack of responsibility when it comes to breeding. They wanted more than 1-2 children and now with limited land, resources thats occupied there is no space for enough children to support the aging population, it's that simple.

These countries will be back to normal once all those elderly people dying and open space for more children to be brought in their lands.

The impact is not over night, and it is slow enough that those market will adjust.

Crashing ... unlikely. Declining ... for sure.
