This mainly allowed thousands of players playing in the city rather than 30. And it allowed you to host your own server with your own rules. Take 2 decided that it was in direct competition with GTA:O so decided to stop it.

It is nice you took one for the team. If nobody took one for the team in these situations, perhaps that would get people like the OP to discuss their subject. How he doesn't have to and in the future people might depend on others bailing them out.
