Halp! What class should I play?

Inf666Inf666 Member UncommonPosts: 513
I like to play classes with a high impact in PvP / PvE. Usually thats healers (No, you damage people are not as important as you think). But there are no dedicated healers in BDO, sooo.. which class do you think (or know) will have the most impact in PvP? Specifically 1v1 or small groups.

What I played in recent games:
- Archer in Aion
- Paladin in Neverwinter
- Sorcerer in Tera
- Paladin in Archeage (Godlike in arena) / Templar

I am considering Valkyrie but I am scared that the potential of the class is low due to missing movement skills. Maybe Witch as an alternative? I do not want to play rogue like classes.

what I would do is go to youtube and put in each class for black desert and "pvp" and then watch some of the bouts.

    Meh I'm still hesitating myself!
Too many melee classes and they look so similar  O.o
Probably going for wizard who still thinks he's 25. I heard it's the best support class

Selling your soul to the devil wont get you anywhere. At launch, you try various classes and keep playing your favorite. Cannot be any easier than that.

There are some similarities between Valkyrie and Warrior but each has a different feel and their own flavor.

Warrior feels solid and substantial and Valkyrie feels light and nimble (this is just "feel" mind you).

They both use sword and shield but they both feel slightly different. They both have a "throw your opponent to the ground" skill however.

    Maybe this will help?

Sometimes I just play the most popular class that agrees with my play-style.  Sometimes I research classes and builds.  Sometimes I play everything and stick with the one that I do best on which is usually the one I enjoyed the most.

It can be difficult as sometimes you never really know how a class plays until you've played it to max level and even then it could get nerfed or totally changed at any time, especially when the game first comes out.  Which is why I tend to play multiple classes so I can easily switch from nerfed to buffed classes.

Valkyrie would be a good choice imo.  But I would look through all the skills for each class has because their are a few that help group play with their buffs/debuffs, aka Valk and Witch/wiz.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

OK, thanks for the answers! After watching a few videos these are my observations of the classes I am interested in. Obviously these are just superficial observations:

    - Valkyrie: There seems to be a big difference in efficiency depending on player skill. A newbie just stands there and gets killed. A pro moves more and uses the proper skills at the right time which might not look like much but seems to be very deadly. Very good class for area denial.

    - Witch / Wizard: Very flashy. Teleporting like mad and unleashing awesome AOEs... but somehow ineffective. Hit and run. In most videos 90% of the time they seemed to have no impact even though they were constantly fighting. Very good class for keeping up constant pressure on the enemy.

    - Sorc: Seems to be a less mobile witch with more damage and more close ranged abilities. Maybe a one trick pony? Can fulfill multiple roles. A well played sorc seems to be devastating.

So far my preference is: Valkyrie > Sorc > Witch

Which of these three classes would you like to have beside you in your team when you are ganking or getting ganked in PvP ?

The problem with that is the gear. In F2P cash-shop games gear usually is the most important aspect of character strength. Collecting high end gear for multiple classes is ...expensive.

Might be relevant if BDO had any form of gear in the cash shop.

BDO rewards perfect timing and complex skill combinations more than anything else.  Watch some of the high end warrior PVP stuff.  Their reaction times/mental ability to process/anticipate skills (theirs and their opponents) is astounding.

Pay €, buy three costumes, sell on market, buy awesome sword --> win. I did that in Archeage. I just laughed at anyone who said it wasn't pay to win and then demolished them. Black desert is going to be the same, no illusions there.

PS: ...Damn, I derailed my own thread.

I plan on having a slot for every class, and will buy more as they release em.  Alts help your main more than any game I have ever seen

I will probably play them all to level 15 at first and see which I like going forward

Buy three costumes...that you can't sell on market...no awesome sword...then what?

As of now, you can't sell cash shop items on market. May or may not be implemented in the future.

so alts in BDO are more important than any game of all-time, and I love it.  Energy is account based, so say your main has earned max Energy to 80, well every char on your account has the same max.  Here is where its great, spending energy is character specific, so you can use your main to gather and such, and spend alts to level nodes, do crafting among other things.
