FYI, Epheria port, NW of Calpheon is a good fishing boat building city too. I would say it's a better place to setup early on as it has better access to needed mats.
And yes I stand by my statement that BDO is far more complex than AA. If you realize, like I did, that the game is immediately enjoyable and wonderful, then you won't be playing for the end game. You'll be enjoying the game instead. End game and what it holds is such a non-issue. This isn't the wow-like theme park bullshit you may be comparing it to in your head. It doesn't have to follow or even acknowledge that business model. If you rushed to max level grinding mobs and can't see the depth and complexity in the game, move on, good riddance.
This game is the beginning of a new generation of MMOs. One where MMOs are held to the same standard as single player titles, and they deliver. This game is the North American MMO market's savior I've been waiting so long for.
