Well from my perspective it's quite simple really.

If Microsoft only offer products in the Windows store that stifle my computer to 1080p, 30fps and are only playable with an Xbox controller, I don't think I'll be interested in any of the products they'll have on offer.

    I don't believe I'm alone.
    1. to me the two quotes I provided suggest exactly that.
    2. UWP REQUIRES (from my understanding) that a game created for Windows also work on xbox so of course the contoller will have to be considered by the developer.
    1 You're a conspiracy theorist

2 Skilled developers already consider both and very skilled develops even consider even more devices.
    1. you are extrapolating. I read those quotes by themselves without any exterior fantasy and to me it means they want the experience on both platforms to be the same. In fact I find it hard to figure out how one could read those two quotes differently.

    2. I dont agree with 'skilled developers' that assumes I like AAA games by default which i dont  and I dont think they are made by skilled teams. But that aside, UWP seems to be suggestings its a REQUIREMENT and seems to even imply that one would use a controller on a PC so where is the middle? doesnt matter that middle is not something I want to be a part of, no thanks windows store

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Please do not respond to me

    1. Extrapolating is exactly what you're doing.

    2. Many many PC exclusive games, past and present have given you a choice of peripheral. The difference is the ones that do it well and the ones who don't. Thats where the skill comes in.

    1. you havent even made a single effort in stating what you think those two quotes mean. contain your world view for a moment to just what is said in those quotes and please at min. let me know what you think they mean and at best please explain to me how they DONT mean what I am saying.

    2. I dont know for sure but I think the vast majority of my games dont have controller support but more importantly I dont care and I hardly am going to evaulate the quality of a developer based on a feature I dont even use

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

    2. It does not imply AAA developers. ARK is an Indi title and a Steam sales darling. It is also on the Xbox One. Prison Architect is a popular Steam Early Access Title from an Indi. It is also on Xbox One. So is Elite Dangerous. Don't Starve is also on Console.

You can use a Keyboard and Mouse on a PS4 and you can use a controller on a PC. I used one for Shadow of Mordor and Mad Max and ESO on PC.

Steam is pushing their controller to the PC crowd. Which really, they are just trying to position themselves as another console. With the Steam machine/ Controller
for the sake of  staying on point I capitulate to 'good developers will develop for console controllers away' that is a debate I would rather not get into and its off my core point anyway

If like you, I would try to get too deep into what those two quotes mean. I would be extrapolating.

Controller support, or should I say "peripheral" support goes all the way back to my experiences with the C64 and the Amiga. It's nothing new, it's been supported historically.

Beyond that I just got to lol.

edit: Peripherals enhance gaming, not detract from it. There is a huge multi billion dollar industry built up around it.

You think the industry gives a fuck about what you think?

I am taking your evasion of the most basic and fundamental requirement of understanding the meaning of the quote to be a complete capitulation of my point. Its clear you are avoiding because you know I am right

orginally you asked me 'how do i know'
my response was 'because they said it'

you refuse to address the quotes I am giving you where they said it

    Evasion?

I'm telling you I'm not going to guess at what those quotes mean. Why? because all I will be doing is guessing.

Write and email ask the people you quoted what their quotes mean.

ok think about that a second. here is what you are saying

'I heard an interview today and it sounds awesome what they are planning on doing'
    'what did they say'
'I really have no idea because I dont know what they meant and doing so would be guessing'

    yeah I call that evasion

No... "you" @SEANMCAD ; quoted a couple statements from an interview and want me to guess at what the statements mean.

I was discussing the story and topic of "Microsoft To Open Up True Cross Platform Game Play General News"

Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to lunch.

This should not be a console vs pc fight.  It is all about MS wanting to use Unified Windows Platform to lock down PC AND Console gaming.  Me, I don't like it :)   Just my assumption.

Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!

for someone who claims to not understand the words of phil spencer you seem pretty confident that you understand how all this Unified stuff is planned to work. I find that odd, somewhere someplace someone used language that you understood.
