For me personally if i stick with it for at least 2 months i will have felt i got my moneys worth and can still come and go as i please. their is no question the game is rough around the edges but the things that i am interested in it seems to do a hell of a lot better then most themepark mmos.

Depends entirely how you decide to play the game and how much time you can play each day. If you don't intend to indulge yourself into crafting, you will reach 45 quite quickly.

With the current exp event, you will level far too quick in the lower levels. I reached level 45 today and I've been trying to take it slow but this exp event makes it way too hard to take it slow. I still have quests for level 37+-....

I've been questing vs green/grey named monsters for days due to this. (These last two days I've been grinding a little in the Bree Tree Ancient Ruins tough because you get so much money from there. I can get half a million to a million in around 30 min with all the multiple collectibles each monster drops.)

It's a fun game, as long as you don't mind leveling the playing field and doing what most of the top guilds do.

Been playing since release and having a blast, I hope you enjoy it also.

Get in a guild and make friends, its an amazing world!

I'm still playing it. The world is the star, no doubt.

Ironically I am playing both BDO and Overwatch right now as my only two games. A bit of DOOM too but I have almost beaten it. Happy camper right now.
Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile

People keep saying the world is the star in BDO.. funny I found it much like a fancy birthday balloon. Pretty cool on the surface but once you scratch below it.. pop.

Yeah, we get it, BDO has a problem with hacks, a bit more than most MMOs.  But I could fairly easily come up with a list of hacks for WoW or pretty much any MMO using the magic of google.

I played for a while. I just couldn't stay online long enough to get anything useful done and just packed it in for a while to save my sanity. Then the smelly stuff hit the fan about all the hacks, etc. so I just didn't bother to go back.

I am downloading the game to try the trial. Goodness the download speed is terrible.

I just wanted to ask for a person who is bad at action games what would be the best class to play please.

@cheyane:  They say Wizard or Witch are easy leveling.  Mostly AOE damage so you don't have to be as twitchy.  I am 47 on my wizard and I have enjoyed it every bit of it.  I would be higher but I keep getting distracted with fishing, trading, horse breeding, guild missions, exploring, crafting, cooking, playing the auction house....  lot's to do!  Have fun!

I've been playing for 6 weeks I'm still playing and having fun.  Sure there are hackers, but name one game that doesn't have them!  If you let what other people do bother you then you will never enjoy any part of life.  I look for people that I enjoy being with and ignore the jerks in game, in RL and on these forums =p

Find a good guild and have some fun with new friends.

OP - Enjoy it!  It is fun!

give all classes a try they all can be fun but as far as easy to use an has lot power witch/wizard is the best to me. strong aoe an easy mana  recovery beam that does decent dmg around 12-15? forget. they can be easy to kill end game so got learn stick an move but all classes will have that issue.

less you try play berserker class which i heard is also very good an can grind endlessly end game with little bit of gearing but never tried leveling one yet so can't say.

Thanks Jaiml and jimmywolf I will try Witch/Wizard and was thinking Tamer too since I only PvE not interested in PvP so the hacks of no concern to me. Is tamer very twitchy play or can I manage it I played games like skyforge ,witcher 3 ,wildstar so I can play action games but not too well. I have a G600 logitech mouse.

I am willing to try other classes but wanted one that would require less jumping around and fast mouse pressing.

I went back to WoW for about a week but my god the combat is so easy now no risk of dying at all and I cannot accept higher level quests so I gave up and decided to finally try BDO. It's truly sad what they have done to levelling in WoW.

@cheyane Tamer is fun and the attack animations are really cool!  I don't have a high level tamer.  I hear they are really good when played well at high level but real hard if you don't understand the class and the combos.  I think you should try it! =)

You should take Jimmywolf's advice and try all the classes.  Two reasons.  One, it only takes about an hour to get a class to level 10-15.  Two, You need alts to level 5 for the energy.  You need the energy for crafting and trading.  You use the alts to help feed energy to your enterprise.  They will also get you some CP points and you really need those.  I have all my character slots full and I use the alts energy every day.  This will not make sense right now but as you play you will understand what I mean.  There is lots to learn and explore in this game!  At first it can be very overwhelming!

I'm told the easy classes to play are the wizard/witch as we said.  Valkyrie is supposed to be a good first leveling class.  Hard classes are Sorcerer and Musa/Maehwa.  These are powerful classes but you really have to play them well.  I made wizard/warrior/valkyrie/tamer/ranger.  I found them all to be fun at lower levels.

    Go have fun! =)

    (Sorry for the hi-jack OP)

Tamer is pretty much crap at the end game at the moment. Now that you can't retaliate anymore on people griefing you by kill stealing your mobs you have a good chance that ranged classes will kill your mobs before you even can touch them. If you don't mind grinding mobs with bad xp/drops you can still work your way to 55+ though. It will just take A LOT longer.

As for easiness, I don't think I once died in Black Desert PVE except for a case where i went AFK in aggro zone - and that was expected. Ranger + Sorc were super easy but Tamer wasn't a big deal either, you simply jump in circles, spamming very few skills. So if you like a little challenge, those classes are most likely not for you.
    LFG!

Thank you so much guys okay will try out all the classes. Am so excited.

Now download faster will you. I have taken to restarting the launcher as when it finishes the checksum there is a brief period of time where the download is better before it drops to 0.25 mb. So each time I restart I can bump it up by 2 %. I left it on for the night and it downloaded only 20 % but with this method I got 20% in 2 hours and its at 40% now. So hoping to speed this up and try the game before the trial finishes but in all probability I will be buying this soon. My husband may get it too as he likes the female model...hubba hubba.

From what I have seen of the community here of BDO is that you all are very helpful. Speaks volumes about the type of players that are currently playing the game and I am looking forward to more.

Almost forgot am playing in EU any advice on the server to join for more PvE or roleplaying less PvP if possible.

    Let him have fun.
A good person would not let someone suffer like that. All the time he may put into the game to then be shafted and come to realisation much later than needed, by being helped by people in the know instead of ignoring such matters. I guess we let him suffer and play ignorance instead of helping the poor guy :D

p.s I loved the game also, fishing was epic for me dunno why but I liked it :D but on the other side of the coin I will not play in such a cheat infested shit hole of a game.
Thats a big part of the problem. How is the devs looking after things end game? (hacking as one thing) What do you need from the cash shop to stay competitive or need not to make the game not cumbersome to play? IMO BD still needs lots of feedback from players before its worth the money. Could be wrong, its just what I see. Im still of the mind set I wont spend 30 bucks to make my char look different and I would not play an avatar that looks the same no matter how much I progress. Thats before you get into no trading with guildies and friends. I am interested to see if they stay the course of what was the core game from launch.

It also the recourse for hacking is the problem. Known hackers from BD are coming back like nothing happened. Handing out temp bans is no way to handle this type of action. Now try pulling this crap in Blizzards ball park. LOL Therein is the difference. Also how they could have know about this client side problem long before launch and not do anything about it. Really, having client side checks for just about everything in this day and age? Sad.

If you have no problems playing a female character @cheyane then I would try Valkyrie.

Many people seem to enjoy that class and it's tankish. If you like captain america go for Valkyrie!

Although I do comment on the hacking in this game quite a bit, the good thing about a b2p game is that you can play and stop whenever you want. So who knows, maybe Daum/PA can get the hacking under control at some point. 30$ isn't a big loss tbh.

If you prefer a ninja like class (Until they let us play the damn thing!), tamer imo is the most similar and you also have a pet/mount!

To be frank tough, ranged classes are favoured a lot in most action games even BDO due to endgame bosses. In my opinion playing a ranged class makes me feel like a little girl safe from harm and run when they get focused. Yes, I despise ranged classes.

  • cheyanecheyane Member LegendaryPosts: 9,386
So sorry but when you say play alts do I have to level them a lot or just barely to benefit from the energy thingy. I rather concentrate on one class.

I finally logged in just now and the character creator slayed me I could not decide what to make my god the options just floored me even the length of my bangs. My husband who can spend an hour or more making a character will probably be at the character creator screen till winter rolls in.

    No need to level them.

They will also have the max energy limit of your main character which is very nice.
