    Players? *chuckles*

sorry, it was screaming to me to say it.

Mmm, I dunno. I heard about it being so innovative when it was being made but honestly it feels like an EQ 1 clone to me.

You have the subway (boat and spire system in EQ1)
You have gangs to fight (typical mob of whatever flavor you like)
You have programs (magic with a different particle effect. I couldn't beleive they actually added summonable henchmen they call a proxy. That totally blew the matrix feel away for me.)

The city is very impressive, however it feels like I am alone in it when I play. I have yet to see another player, even when I found my way to a hardline. And the NPC's walking around remind me of dawn of the dead, I just don't get any feeling of a person from them.

Granted my playtime hasn't been that much, but I don't see anything innovative with it yet. I don't get the feel of the matrix from it. It feels like a fantasy MMO with a modern day skin on it.

I did not like the combat in MXO. It was confusing and not very fun it seem like total chance kinda like R/P/S gone way bad.
The market system was horrible too. I like the rest for the most part and I would pick up the game again if some drastic changes were made in those areas.

Some few major changes are needed. Firstly they need to get rid of hackers. they are pointless and ruin PvP. when a level 30 character can solo a level 50 boss without getting touched is overpowered beyond belief. plus thier were operators but they never killed anyone and they werent in the matrix.

Secondly they need to lessen the grind. 150+ missions to gain one level at 40+ is NOT fun. Thirdly they need to make it harder. its so easy right now its embarrassing. Smart players dont get touched once. which.. that may or may not be good. idiots seem to like telling others its impossible to grind a mission on hard, which is not true.

and finally, fix interlock issues. Make it faster, make it so that when people shoot at you they come into interlock with you, instead of continuining(cant spell LOL) to shoot you. which i think they are doing... dunno.

More players would ruin it for me. true they need them, but it would ruin everything the game has going for it. It has the best community ever. You are a real person, people notice what you do and remember it. Your not another faceless 35 kung fu master. You have a name and people use it. If your good at pvp they will know not to mess with you. At least thats what happened with me. People knew me as a ganker that would kill them at any time they had turned on pvp.

Played it for some months, well actually got caught in a routine type style of play.
Eiter teamed with a couple of players that migh aswell have been npc.

Mission areas look the same, gets old to fast.

But generally i like the game, just dont see why it has to be online.

I'd love to see a trial system, as i dont wanna spend about £30 then find out i dont like it, i'd love to see a 10 day trial or somthing. Just wanna say the old SWG combat was awesome if they need a new combat system.

Been part of all access will bring in the players(such as myself) but as i have not played the game i do not know the flaws.

But they will get a second chance to impress when it joins the all access

Personally i loved the Combat of this Game but What needs to be added is :

    1. They need a button for Canceling.

    2. WHY would you gain levels in the Matrix i mean come on that part annoyed me the most Leveling in the Matrix Online just didnt appeal to me than all the lvl 50s would sit around and pk the noobs. Seems like this game should of been more based on skill.

    3. Ok simple said the Events sucked. Stand around kill agents for cards of no value? Stand around kill vampires? for what?

    4. All the bad guys just stood there and did nothing

I had no problem with how the game is based on turns you go first than the other guy unless ur higher in skill that was fine made me confused at first though.

    5. The Missions are boring at one point they even deducted the experience from it because people were abusing the timing and distance of a mission, so in which that deduction caused a drop in population.

I Quit about a month ago or 2 for those few reasons everything else was great i loved the combat and pulling my silver bullet and shooting the guy in the head that was fun.

Only need to spend £2.99 as it is that low on www.play.com now!

Though i would hurry and order as in a few days it shot from bottom of the barrel to top selling pc game on play.com which is clearly related to the price.

They need to make it like it was when it was in the beta, like when they had CT enhancements on clothes, and the combat system isnt that fun. it was alot better when it was in beta.

    A new combat system.

    If they made the game.

A: Run better, worse graphics then most other mmorpgs out there, and mxo ran horribly for me.
B: Combat based on actual skill(dodging/blocking ability) not just random dice rolls
C: solo ablity don't know if it was just me or what, but it was almost impossible to solo as melee, 2 monsters at once = death, but you could easily snipe from another room and run to kill things using guns. Found that horrible.

Bladin. level 20 and lower is really hard. Inless you have the right clothes you cant do anything with missions. but the moment you hit 20-50 in level you can solo missions on hard. at least i could but i played in beta so I know what to do and how to do it.

    Agree

The big patch pre-launch nerfed all the good enhancements to gear so duels became worthless rock/paper/scissors fights.  Too bad- in beta there were "fight clubs" every weekend.

Since the quest system is so repetitive, and so completely without direction (find a "key" for a high level zone, in some other zone with no help/hints which one OR try to finish missions while gettin instakilled by Agents every 5min in a "restricted" zone) I just lost interest.

When I cancelled my subscription, support told me she thought the game was released about a year too soon.

It will take a massive expansion that reworks almost everything for me to even consider goin back (sorryimage)

I can understand that feeling. I may be missing alot since I play it so casually but the game doesn't motivate me at all. Its very uninspiring to me.

This discussion is fairly pointless. These things won't ever happen, MXO is simply going to tread along now with minimal support a'la Planetside. They just picked it up as part of the DC deal. SOE has no interest in throwing its support behind MXO, and you'll see this in the coming months.

Simply put, not enough boxes even got off the shelves, just not worth it. If theyh ad sold a lot of boxes and people left for a variety of reasons, SOE could run it through some development and market it back to the players that left, give them a free trial etc..just not worth it at this point.

This was for a poll "game id like to see" found at http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion.cfm/load/forums/loadforum/51/loadthread/49057/setstart/1/loadclass/35
Some of it isn't applicable but most of it is...enjoy. A think they would need to start over completely also.

Matix 2: First Incarnations : Pick me! Set an earlier version of the matrix. I'll offer twitch like combat (think CoH meets Gunz online). No Neo or Morpheous here but stars like Willem Defoe, and Cameron Diaz can lend their likenesses for important npcs.Human and machine factions availible to play at the beginning. Humans start in zion where they can accomplish instanced missions to start them out. Piloting will be a skill set and getting to a place where one can downloaded into the matrix will be a minigame unto itself. Operators will be present by allowing then to hitch onto group members (similar to following someone in an fps) where they can heal, infect, keep the matrix from realizing your breaking its rules and flagging you(more on this later).

Machines start as a new form of agent with more individuality and the ability to grow in greater power. Agents are 5x stronger than an equal lvl human. Agents however have a different set of missions and can only attack flagged humans. Getting flagged involves showing off crazy moves to the npc population. Do that enough and you appear on a agents radar. Defeating an agent sends him to another body and sends a stronger signal to other agents. Almost all missions will be instanced which agents can enter if you become flagged. PvP rooms are set up in both sides allowing different styes of play (considered training).

Stats will be taken weekly based on pvp performance, mission completion,Exploration, Easter egg hunting. The purpose being to determine “The One Status”.The status is allowed to only one person on a server and is subject to change every week. “The One” status lets you do cool things without being totally unbalanced. Flying, insta killing agents (they reform anyway in a couple min) healing. Machines have “virus” status which allows them many of the same abilities for machines including making copies of themselves for a limited time. Emphasis on this game would be to recreate the feel of the movies. Being persued and persuing were a big part of this. As is the high action thus leading to the twitch based gameplay.

Actually beyond the Hacker crap MXO is pretty "Matrix-y" in a bunch of ways, and feels quite immersive if you notice the little things. Immersion wasnt ever really an issue. There were many other things, mostly bugs and game balance issues. Also the bar to entry of learning "Interlock" seemed to be a bit too much for the mainstream gamer.

Many people I introduced to the game foudn themselves quite confused by Interlock (I was even confused for over a week when I first got into MXO)

The breaking issue really for most newbies trying the game out was Interlock + bugs. For the rest of the people it was simply the license which has suffered over the years, especially due to how the sequels were received.

Well, I played MxO myself and yeah.. compared to other MMORPG it gets boring fast.. The scenery is ALWAYS the same.. that urban look that never changes. Many missions are STILL bugged, and when I played, seeing other players would be rare.. dont know if that got better after they joined the servers, although it prolly got more lagged.. yup, lag was a issue.. although my bar was always on green, I would still have lag on the combats which turned the fights themselfs very unreal.

I had played FFXI and WoW.. In my opinion, MxO was a bad attemptive of a MMORPG.. only based on it's copyrighted name..

    THE MATRIX..

Hackers continually resisting interlock REALLY aggrivate me. ::::27::

yeah don't even get me started. I tend to just ignore them. Though the other day I was 16-0 before dying so I had a pretty good run vs everyone. :P

The interlock resists youre experiencing are either the Evade Combat shield or the 5 second 'grace'.

    THE MATRIX..

The urban look varies if you have enough access to the game. If you were moving through the slums, international, downtown and the constructs, theres quite a bit of scenery. It doesn't change that much -- but then again, most cities aren't too varied, especially the Matrix where the monotonous cityscape was intended.

Buggy missions, yep still there. There are a LOT of players to be seen since the server merge, often too many.. Lag is pretty horrible lately, yep..

All that aside -- I'm sure it will end up being debugged, balanced and stabilized, SOE isnt /too/ horrible with that, and since the game development is focused solely on game balance / performance/ bug stomping at the moment instead of Live Events, you should see a lot of changes in that regard. Of course this is at the cost of Live Events -- which was the main draw of the game in the first place. So yeah its a lose-lose really :P

There are a few turds in the punchbowl like this game, Horizons and Saga or Ryzom.  I am amazed that such crappy games can continue to exist.  I am more perplexed that players still enjoy them.  I was a sucker (aka fanboy) for each game at one time.  At least they perfected the empty shell of a game feature =).
