Surname selection has been announced

For those that have a custom surname it will be available to choose early next year.

Now I assume this is to allow for the names to be vetted, but it's before land selection so some people are concerned that they can't chose a name before they know their tribes. Especially with the option to pay to change the name if you change your mind.
Others are happy to be able to choose their surname asap.

Note: surname selection can be put back if your not sure

What's people's opinions, should sbs wait or should they allow their users this option asap and start the vetting process asap?

It's a difficult call to be honest.

If they start it people will be upset about not knowing due to tribes and biome (bit they don' have to choose straight away anyway).
On the other hand alot of the community wants it asap...

There are some hoops to be jumped through in order to lock in your surname, however. You’ll need to either buy a minimum $135 pledge package by itself or unlock the a la carte store by buying a minimum $45 pledge package and then picking up the surname option for another $25 (so, $70 total). Additionally, surnames will be reserved according to player influence, so those with more in their account get dibs over the rest of the crowd.

Yeah... and the fact that people that don't have money to buy the game will be excluded! The horror! So unfair and... and... racist! Racist against poor people these developers.

The surname selection is connected to some advances in the website development, speaking of persona feature on the website, which allows the community to represent in game character, domains and organisations in a more convenient and roleplayish manner.
