Puzzle Pirates

I tried this game out in search of an MMORPG to keep me busy till Roma Victor and Pirates of the Burning Sea it the market, and didn't expect much of it not being a devout fan of puzzling and all, and even though I was slightly interested in it I never payed much attention to it because the name put me off. But what came next was really surprising, the game is actually a real full blown MMORPG! With a totally player controled society and market, politics, and a combat system with puzzling that actually requires you to think and act fast during combat!

I didn't expect anything of it, to be honest. But it turned out to be more fun then any other game I've played in a while. I'll be honest, I only played for an hour or so, hence the reason for this thread. Do any other MMORPG.com'ers have any experience with this gem of a game? If so, could you tell me a bit about it?

My favorite puzzle would have to be sea battle sword fighting. It can be as complicated as you want it, some people can predict the pattern the sword blocks will fall by the color and type of sword. The only thing you really need to remember is to team and you do that by clicking on the enemies bar aim for three on the enemy but never go alone and never go over 3 people. The battles can be huge depending on the ship you job for the biggest I remember was a 41 vs. 41 but they do get bigger.

In many of the puzzles there’s a way to go really fast an example is in sailing you try and fill in slots from the bottom up but leave one slot open then a piece from above can drop into. When all are filled up they break and any pieces attached fall down so try and get it to fall in your slot below to go fast.

Check out the everything you need to know thread on their tips forum to help you out with the puzzles.

I played for a few weeks, its a fun game. Many nice people, and some interesting puzzles.
I was impressed by how much there was for you to do, could start a crew, colonize an island, attack other islands, much of the game is decided by the player politics. If your willing to put the time into it, the skys the limit, its all there for the taking. Wasnt really expecting that much depth from a game that looks so silly (if not absurd).

I quit when my crews senior officers decided it was time for me to try my hand at captaining a boat by myself. Just doing one puzzle well can be tuff sometimes, but keeping track of 3 npc pirates and how well they are doing and then steering the boat after other pirates and boarding and and and....
I'm just too lazy for all that work ::::02::

Boarding another boat and the ensueing sword fight is the best though, loads of fun ::::20::

An excellent game. I'm surprised not much people talk about it especially since it's optionally free. I uninstalled it a while ago but am thinking of trying it out again, I heard that they added new puzzles since the last time I played. Some things I would change about the game is carpentry or bilging..they are just such a boring job to do ::::07::.
