Gonna wait it out

ionxeelionxeel Member UncommonPosts: 318
Not gonna rush with this one, like I often did before. Gonna wait it out and see how people who played our version judge the game. I mean the game didn't succeed on other markets, and we're only getting 5 classes at launch. They didn't even bother having official forums on their website. Combat hasn't been tested and who knows how it's gonna be like. That's too many things to make me not want to throw money at them. Don't get me wrong, I wish Bless Online a success. The more good MMOs we have to play, the better. But I got burnt too many times, so I'll wait and see.

    Wise choice.
I am applying this philosophy to all type of games, not only MMORPGs.
Unless it is a Fallout or an Elders Scroll game of course.

You wont like the game. Its EA.It might have bugs, even exploits or whatever. With this kind of attitude you will not enjoy any experience... I WILL LET OTHERS DECIDE IF THIS GAME IS GOOD FOR ME ?

Ive paid 60E for No Man Sky, uninstalled after 1h and never asked for refund. It was one of the best gaming lessons ever.

As for Bless, if you dont like pvp, open world pvp, instanced pvp, castle siege....you dont need any1 advice if you will like the game.

At the end of life you will only think about experience you have achieved not the chances you've missed.

I'll be honest, part of me wants this game to fail for a 3rd time mainly because there's something that doesn't feel right about the hype behind this game. It honestly didn't start building up this kind of hype until Aeria declined to publish it when isn't necessarily a bad thing but going from that to "this is gonna be an amazing game" just doesn't feel right. So if it does well, that's great but I wont be surprised if it fails again.

Steam has a 100% refund no questions asked policy for all games that you played under 2 hours.

So you can literally play all games on steam for less than 2 hours for "free".

The catch is - it takes a week to get a refund usually.

Question about the Steam refund policy.  What if I bought a game from them say 8 months ago but never downloaded it to my computer until today.  2 hour rule still in effect, or did I miss the window?

I believe it is 14 days within purchase date and < 2 hours played.

I bought a game played for 15 minutes, asked for a refund and was denied.  The reason, i played 14 hours.  They did a second sort of review and stuck with their decision.  That was the end of the dialogue from their end.

    So much this.

Waiting it out for all games - the wisest choice.
Eh, for games that require upfront cost, sure. But if its f2p? What's the harm in giving it ago from jumpstreet? Just don't put any money into it right away and you're golden. And as far as i know, Bless is going to be f2p.

Scratch that, apparently the news i had in mind was old. I see its b2p. Yea....in that case definitely wait on that.

The issue with waiting in Asian PvP games is that you will never be combat viable since they are based so heavily on RNG vertical progression (so they can slip in P2W).

Chances are the game's reputation will only plummet as time goes on and P2W is added so you will never bother.

Cool story. I'm land rushing. This kind of game is not one where you want to wait until everyone is max level, and you can't find groups for lower level content.
Cool story. If you seriously think waiting 3-6 months to play will cause players to have issues finding groups for lower level content, then that's all the more reason to not play the game.

I guarantee it. This game is a land rush, if players aren't in the first wave, the chances are, the player will never catch up to the first wave . All the fun is in the first wave.

The first wave is the foundation of the game, the in game community and where all of the guilds/ clans begin. Can't stress enough how important the first wave is in any mmorpg. LotRO had the greatest first wave in  history, and the game is pushing 12 years now.....
And is practically a corpse  now......

You are getting 5 classes at the start of their early access. Yes combat hasn't been tested because it's their early access.

But yes, you should wait it out.

That's an absolute shit design of a game if that's how it is. You're only listing off reasons not to play it at this point. Take WoW for instance, doesn't matter if you started in Vanilla and never stopped playing to current. A player that only started in Legion could have easily caught up to the "first wave".

A game should not be designed in such a way that you have to be in the opening gates to have any hope of being a "top player" should that be your goal. That's just begging for failure right there because there will never be any new waves because people will think just like you "well, i didn't get in when it launched so no point playing now"

I have done this a few times with steam. its cool being able to try the game for at least a hour or so and see if it grabs my interest.

Steam can be a little weird, especially with games that have launchers. Sometimes it will count when there's a seperate launcher that downloads its own files (it would count time on Neverwinter for me even though I had to download the game via their downloader). So it really depends. Somtimes you can dig through the files and open the game seperately though and not have it count towards your time (I do this with ESO, so it shows I've only been playing for 5 hours even though I've probably spent 100~ hours since I bought it).

If everyone did that, nothing would ever get played.  Getting burnt is part of this hobby so grow a pair, pay your entrance fee and discover for yourself if it as worth the price.

Some of you peeps go on like RC aircraft enthusiasts that don't dare actually fly anything in case they crash it lol

all mmos are the same, you are either in the first wave or not. I didn't get into first wave of Black Desert and it shows cause I'm not "connected" to the game like I was for lineage 2, Vanguard SOH, Age of COnan and LotrO.

I don't recognize %o% , as any form of anything.
I was there at the first wave for every game you listed. L2 had some merit, the others were terrible (IMO), each in their own way.

But all 4 have the same bad (IMO) design, you are correct,  get in early or be behind.

My favorite games include DAOC which I joined 6 months in where I quickly felt I caught up (until the TOA ) expansion and EVE which I joined 3 years in.

Took much longer in EVE to feel "caught up", 2 or 3 years, but since then my menagerie of characters can do most anything in game outside of flying supers,  which I was never interested in flying.

So your premise is correct, if you intend to play bad (IMO) games.  With your playstyle this isn't an issue, for me it's a non starter, I just avoid them as I will this title.

BTW, I enjoyed WOW at first, played it from launch, however the first expansion drove home the games core design which would never improve (IMO) so I walked away.

Raid or die just isn't something I'm ever likely to do again.
