I think Diablo Mobile will be a huge disaster. I actually hope it does well, but I think players feel jaded about this since it is only Mobile. Mere resentment will ruin this game. I'm actually surprised Blizzard made such a bad mistake.
It will do great. You jaded people have no idea outside your bubble.

Soki has a point
No matter how much blizzard is getting hated from this...its gonna make bank for them on the mobile market. Mobile games make a TON of money, so its guaranteed to pay off. Even the most hated mobile games you read about or watch on youtube make tons of money, despite bad reviews or/and negative feedback
Guaranteed money maker. And on top of that, mobile gaming is huge in china and japan so even if it doesn't do well at NA (highly doubt it)...those two regions alone will pay for the game within a day or two.
My Skyrim, Fallout 4, Starbound and WoW + other game mods at MODDB:
If they wanted a mobile game, what they should have done was port Diablo 1. It's simple enough to work with a touchscreen interface, scratches that nostalgia itch quite well for those of us who played it, would present an opportunity for younger Diablo fans to see where it all began, simple enough in design and scope to run on a huge number of devices, and if they wanted to they could monetize it by selling skill books to people who don't want to wait for them to drop randomly.
Instead we get a re-skinned version of a mobile Diablo clone, and gave its announcement main-event status. They didn't just drop the ball, they nuked it from orbit. Then they insulted the fans (Don't you guys have phones?), and resorted to censorship and trickery in an attempt to hide the fact that people were rightfully pissed off.
I'm honestly not sure at this point if I'll bother with D4 if it ever comes out. Blizzard went full EA here.

Those who don't - again go right ahead - it's also a valid response, especially knowing that an actual PC/console version is in the works.
Where did you see an actual PC/Console version is in the works?
To date they have canned two of those projects, some Warcraft Adventure and Starcraft Ghost. Additionally, Titan was cancelled. I would like to see some actual footage and real announcement before I take the "we are working on multiple projects" with anything more than a grain of salt. Multiple projects for all purposes could be working with Funko to make the next Diablo Figures.
I run a game or 2 while in the shitter or a break at work and that's fine. I welcome games with more depth on mobile.
If you want more depth for the games you play on the shitter you might want to add more fiber to your diet instead.

I can't think of anyone hating mobiles more than @DMKano on these forums but there her is doing 'damage control' on every Diablo Immoral thread. So, I guess there's nothing much left to say but, congratulations on your new job mate!

Let's be real here. Blizzard's PC fans are a drop in the bucket compared to what mobile could end up bringing in fan wise plus it might get some people to try their pc/console games too. Resentment won't ruin it and most of these people decrying it now will probably play it when it releases.

Well considering they were hiring people for diablo related projects directly at blizzard and they weren't anything to do with Netease it is easy to wager. They said there is multiple diablo projects in the works and that they didn't have others ready to show yet as well. Do people just not listen?

Really? How is it damage control. He is saying shit that some of you fanboys really need to freaking perk up and hear. Blizzard isn't a company that exists just for you or anyone else's entertainment alone. They are here to make money and they want to bring this franchise into the mobile world, but ohh no can't have that lordy lordy whatever will people do. Your type needs to just sit back and stop at times.
I'm a massive PC gamer (I rarely play consoles and I fiddle with mobile here and there, but nothing serious). I've been around the mmorpg genre and blizzard games from the literal start of their company and I think people are just being dumb with the entire thing. Do I like that it's a mobile game specifically? Not particularly, but I'm also not a jaded asshat that seems to be continually causing bullshit issues for no god damned reason and accuses others of being a shill because I can't deal with the fact that I'm not being pandered to.
A company doesn't need to pander to you specifically and it's about time some people heard that. They want to break into new markets and people trying to hold them back on it just ends up hurting shit.

So we're only allowed to cheer for a company and never boo them, eh? Why is that? Who are you to say what people are allowed to say and what shouldn't say? We should censor anyone who doesn't agree with you? Or are you dictating to people how they should think based on how you feel? Hate to break to ya, I don't even take my own feelings seriously, let alone someone else's.
I am also allowed to joke with another member, and it would be really weird if he loses his shit over such a mild joke, extra weird when someone else does.
All these riled up emotions, mate, it seems that you need to take your own advice and just sit back and stop at times.

The thing is, it's not even a Blizzard game, it's been farmed out to China.
This announcement just showed the fan base in no uncertain terms that Blizzard is not the same company that it used to be.
Blizzard has no in-house devs with mobile experience - actually I don't know of many western studios that have any mobile devs in house - so outsourcing to top mobile developers like Netease is what pretty much all studios do.
Blizzard is a growing billion dollar company, of course they are not going to remain the same old company - as a business they will go expand their portfolio into markets where they feel they can get traction - and mobile makes complete sense for Blizzard right now.
Is the fan base that out of touch to not understand that companies change over time? Especially a company as huge as Blizzard - they have to expand into new markets to reach more players.
Also Blizzard is also working on a Diablo games for PC/console gamers - they just haven't announced those yet
Expecting a game company the size of Blizzard to remain in the same markets over and over again - that's just not realistic thinking.
Yes yes we get it Blizzard wants more money. Thing is we don't care. We want pc games. The average mobile gamer probably hasn't even heard of all this shit show or even know what a Blizzcon is.
Real fans and existing customers first, that's all we care about.
You know how I know Blizzard is at their weakest, the fact that this even made it out of the offices to being with. Metzen probably would've spit on the face of the person who came up with this idea.
You know what would have been better than a Diablo mobile game? Almost anything. My thoughts (aside from Diablo 4) went to: a third person story-driven RPG or a Dynasty Warriors third person Action RPG.
I don't care that a mobile game is being made. The place was wrong to announce it in my opinion and the timing was even worse. I won't play it but that is because I dislike such things on a touch screen or wasting all my battery on games. If people enjoy then happy for them. This felt like them just trying to have something to announce. Would have been better to not have anything. I would have been happier hearing that Switch players would get a Zelda armor set or something like that.

Possibly issues with that theme in the chinese market, or they'll add it eventually with a different skin tone most likely.

Also, if they are working on diablo 4 fpr PC, that should be satisfactory.
This isnt surprising from blizzard, they make the most polished games, are ridiculously successful and yes, complete sellouts l.
Diablo 2 ruined my undergrad, i didnt touch diablo 3, then i discovered Path of Exile, so i dont care about diablo series any more.
You can see my sci-fi/WW2 book recommendations.
can u link some official info about D4 development ? You so much talking about it like its a fact.
