While in-game weddings have been available in Final Fantasy XIV for a long while, it's not something that the players themselves could have a similar wedding "in real life". That's all changed with the arrival of Bridal Hearts that was shown off by Square Enix on Valentine's Day. Reservations for the $31,500 FFXIV-themed extravaganza will open in the next several weeks according to game producer Naoki Yoshida.

so for those who are already married, how much does a typical run of the mill wedding cost? is a wedding even worth 31k?

Honestly, it's not that expensive considering how outrageous can the price of a wedding reach.

You could have the honeymoon there in japan. I wish to visit the place someday.

In all honesty. This is actually quite cheap if you look at what you get for the money.
Weddings are an expensive affair and what they offer for $31.500,- is far from unreasonable.

Depending on group size, people easily spend more on a standard church wedding + location rental + wedding cake + catering.

I wouldn't spend it either. We just did a simple sober wedding with just the minimum 2 witnesses and a nice dinner afterwards with some friends and rather spend the money on a nice honeymoon.

But for people that are into big weddings, this is a good deal if you are into this kind of thing.

Nah I'm good with the $150 we spent at the courthouse.  It would be a hell of experience though.

Yes this is actually relatively cheap if you consider how much wedding dresses and all the other stuff cost. The cake alone can set you back a few thousand.

Worth is dependent on the individual. Some people feel the wedding should be as expensive as possible while others just want to be married. Some people think it's "the most important moment" for the bride and want to go all out. It's just like anything else in the world, the actual cost to get married is under $100 in most places (US) but clever marketing has convinced some it's not a "real" wedding if you don't have it all.

Find someone who wants to be married and be happy and not someone that want's a wedding. That's my opinion on it. My wife and I had a small wedding at a small local church that cost totaled probably $500. A family member made the cake, which was terrible, but we loved it. We've been married for 22 years.

Every bride deserves her day. If this is what she wants, ok.

But for the rest of your life people will be asking "can I see your wedding pictures?" And you don't want to have to say "Oh, yes, *cough*, sure. But first have you seen our rose garden out back?"

People get taken advantage of in weddings bigtime. Everyone charges a lot more just because it's a wedding and people are willing to pay because they want it to be 'perfect.'  So I'd think that one is about average.  How much would a Star Trek wedding run?

Most and least expensive in the U.S. 2019.  Most however are somewhere in the middle.

I sang for a friend's sister's wedding. It was actually an amazing affair and easily cost over 100k.

The really nice thing is that they were high school sweethearts and are still happily married. Kind of a rare thing.

I've played for some really high priced weddings as well as some really chill, laid back weddings.

Truth is, you can have a great wedding anywhere on that spectrum as long as you are marrying the right person.

I've decided that I can't judge a country who's main city has a WAY higher population than the very country I live in and a total land area countless times smaller.

People start to do very strange things when living in shoe box apartments, and never stepping outside of a city their entire lives.

I recently left a city to head back to my old home town, because the city was too big for me (and city folk are largely brain damaged). This city metro is nearly 40 times smaller than Tokyo metro, but only about half the land area.

I'll be honest, I don't think I'd survive the population density of some of those Asian cities. Perhaps I would if converted to big city, delusional thinking.

Awesome. When I got married we actually went to Japan for our honeymoon. So, I didn´t get a Final Fantasy wedding but I did spend 2 days in Akihabara living a Final Fantasy life, it was beyond amazing tbh.

lol I don't think city folk are brain damaged (me being a city folk) but just having some slightly different priorities.

My roommate (a good friend of mine) would prefer to live in the sticks of Maine or New Hampshire but he just can't make the type of money he needs so he stays here until he decides to retire (and then move to the boonies of Maine or New Hampshire)

In truth I'd love to live in a huge city as there are so many things to do and see and take part of.

Anywhooo, would I spend 31k on a final fantasy wedding? Absolutely not. I would spend 31k on a wedding if it was a fun experience for friends and family.

frankly $31K is not as bad if it include food for guest, I've seen people spend $200k to $1 mil on a wedding. and guys you might want a cheap wedding, but your future wife mostly will not. Wait until she scream at you for being cheap, and consider her cheap that won't be the end of it.

A recent study showed that the higher the cost of a wedding, the higher the percentage of divorce.

The tip may be that if your partner complains that not enough money is spend ... a problem already exists in the relationship.

I had a small wedding in October of 2017 and it was only about 4k or so if that. The most expensive thing was the venue which was 1k
Don't get married in a big city either. Find some small town somewhere and rent your spaces.
