As a final prelude to the inevitable launch next week, Ubisoft led this past weekends’ Open Beta as an unexpected love letter to Division players. Despite maintaining a fairly limited scope that falls in line with what we saw in the Private Beta, Ubisoft proved that they are all ears when it comes to making concessions on their original design to make their players happy. The long journey from New York to Washington D.C. has almost finished, but is the Open Beta enough to curtail fears of a problematic launch?

The beta was super smooth. No problems on my end either. I feel like there was more than enough content to experience the game and make a decision on purchasing as well.

Seemed exactly the same as the original. The building interiors even seemed to be the same. Its okay but $60 for a retread... nope.

If you can't 1 shot head shot with a sniper rifle in a modern setting with modern guns, it's a no go.

Yeah, they reused plenty of old assets from the first game. Exactly what you do when you are making an expansion. Plus all the dlc and season pass, $100 for The Division Expansion: Washington D.C.

I'm interested in The Division 1.2, but I think I'll wait on it to build up. Mostly due to not having the budget for it right now.

People who say the game runs smooth haven't been playing for more then 5 min; it's so incredibly poorly optimized it's ridiculous. Just go read through the pages and pages of forum posts over at their site about all the people having issues.

My main gripe was the female characters. It's like they went out of their way to make every female into some asexual androgynous blob so as not to offend anyone. I get that it's a post disaster setting, but not every woman needed to be a flat butt, flat chest, dog ugly render. And btw UBI, keep gender politics out of video games please. Body type vs gender. What is this world coming to.

This isn't that type of game. Not every game has to be like black desert online or vindictus. Developers with horny thoughts pretty much always make crap games.

    I enjoyed the beta immensely.
Didn't have any issues other than the client freezing when I quit or some sound issues here and there.
    Nothing gamebreaking.

PvP was awesome and there were so many things to do in PvE... I loved that you could roam around exploring, collecting loot and random things to do would pop up.

NPCs are smarter than the first and which made the game challenging.
Making mistakes are almost always punished.

The detail of the in-game world was astonishing... very immersive.
I thought I'd miss the snowy setting of the first but I loved the weather effects in the beta.
Fighting in rainstorms felt really great :)

I didn't really like any of the three endgame specifications though...guess I'll wait for the ones released on the year 1 pass.

Too much of the same. Played it for half hour and it felt like original game without the snow.

I have 12 Hrs played and had no issues on PC. The only thing that was kinda funny is the Cover bug Words being backwards, LOL.
Maybe those "People" need to upgrade their Commodore 64's or switch from Console to PC.

Original has better setting, better animations, less ugly female toons and cost 3-10 times less depending on sale.

You can, for some enemies, but a lot of enemies wear helmets, so the first shot is usually taking off the helmet, the second is the kill shot.  Top of the top enemies take more than 1 shot to remove their helmet, unless you're a sharpshooter.

Pretty much this.  If the setting is supposed to be modern/realistic nothing should ever be a bullet-sponge unless it's running around covered in kevlar gear...even then after a few rounds you'll punch through that stuff too.

Edit: That, plus all the gameplay i watched ran at like 15 fps.

    its not the same
first is the change to the healing cant spam medkits and skills like in div 1

then its more skill based when in div 1 it was whoever had better gear won

Skill based? So 1 shot to the head equals kill? Didn't think so... Whoever has better gun (better gear) kills with less shots. Same old division 1.

I was enjoying it until I couldn't progress past one certain story mission. It kept disconnecting on said mission every time I tried to do it and I had to restart from the beginning to try again. Everything else in the game was fine but that one mission was a game breaking problem for me so I won't be buying it at launch. I'll wait to see it's completely fixed.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Not sure how you define a game needing skill just by getting kills with one shot to the head.. Anyway, headshots do more damage.. and yes you can kill enemies with one shot with the sniper spec. TTK is way lower than Div1 as players had requested.

Why does this need to be a bullet sponge game? It's already a cover shooter. If you're behind cover and the enemy is shooting at you, that's called suppressive fire. If you poke you head out then you get shot and die. Common sense 101.

You're not wearing futuristic vibranium metal armor. You don't have space alien technology energy shields. Why are you taking 20 shots to the face and still alive and kicking?

This game is 1000% turn off.

Because it's not meant to be 100% realistic.
    It never was.
It balances realism with scifi to create interesting gameplay.
Not sure why that's such a hard concept to understand.

It works for The Div, Apex Legends, Quake, Unreal Tournament, Titanfall, Call of Duty, Battlefield, etc etc etc

If you are able to 1 shot all enemies then the game would be ridiculously easy. You can't really make a realistic looter shooter. R6 siege is probably the closest you would get

Even the guy doing the preview notices it towards the beginning. It's very clunky/jarring
