Could Roberts file for bankruptcy and keep all the concept money ?
If he has cash in the bank it would have to be used to settle accounts. You can not declare bankruptcy without actually showing you cannot met you financial commitments.
Is this the same for say Swiss bank accounts ?

They really should work on finishing up the back ordered ships that some backers have been waiting on for years. But the backers seem happy to buy now and wait later to get their ships so maybe it's just me. This new ship is probably 2 or 3 years from production unless 'instock' means flight ready.

Them finishing the ships isn't too much problem at this point. Even if they're behind they're producing them at a good enough pace.
But at current pace it would take more than 10 years for them make all the required engine and gameplay, and with mines they again added another new gameplay mechanism.

He's already let the cat out of the bag on this issue.
MVP. Minimum Viable Product. The out he has to fulfill the vague Kickstarter agreement attached to SC. SQ42 in ANY form released fulfills that requirement. I believe that will be the final product that is put out.
Bartoni's Law definition: As an Internet discussion grows volatile, the probability of a comparison involving Donald Trump approaches 1.
Adding a minelayer/sweeper ship was in the plans since 2014. It was just low priority over other ships and that's why it's only been announced now.
The priority of ships is also dictated by the single player campaign Squadron 42. Some ships are ready but will only be making their way into Star Citizen after Squadron42 release.
What is the point of a minesweeper in space? Couldn't you I dunno just fly around / over / under the minefield? Or just detonate them from a safe distance with a turret?
I guess there is some usefulness there on a planet level but it should be a ground vehicle instead of a spaceship. Whoops I just gave them another idea.
CIG announced a new ship at its recent 'Aegis VIP' event.
To buy tickets for the event you needed to have spent over $1000 on Star Citizen, the tickets were $275 per head and in return for your $275 you got the privilege of being pitched a new $675 ship for you to spend your money on...
Holy moly....
pay to pay to pay to win...
...dow shop
One has to wonder really, i mean it could be years before the game is released, and even then there is little indication that the games servers will even support the player numbers for just one of these ships, of course, turning concept art into an actual in game item, who knows how long that will actually take, i am surprised they even have enough time to develop the game with the backlog of ships they have yet to 'finish'
Not only the backlog of ships they sold years ago that still don't exist, but each of the individual game mechanics that are unique to those ships still do not exist.
By selling an idea of a minelayer ship, they just added yet another game mechanic that will never get done.
And like somebody already said, "it would be fun to be a minesweeper", which then becomes yet another game mechanic that doesn't exist. And so on and so forth.
I don't understand how ships that are running players hundreds of dollars for a game that isn't even close to launching is a temptation? I could do so many more things with $675 than waste it on a ship in a video game.
I am not a wealthy person by any means, so that kind of money i would never dream of spending on just one game, its a significant amount, so for someone to think of that kind of money as being inconsequential, they are the types that never ask how much something costs.
They certainly got their target audience. I want to see how much theyre paying people who psychoanalyze the idiots who keep spending money on this nonsense. But then again they probably dont need such a 'specialist'.
Everything about this feeds to some mental defect in people.
Having a 'special' (probably billed as 'secret' as well) meeting. One for "ViPs'' (whose only 'importance' was they have spent over a grand on this abortion) CHARGE them for it, and then roll out yet ANOTHER 500+ dollar ship. Then for the final touch they are (another) 'exclusive' and numbering the ships in the order in which they are purchased?
Also its a ship that apparently has more 'game' features. In something thats NOT a game, and features that dont even exist in the tech demo fantasyland theyre all living it.
Incredible. Actually not really. Until people STOP buying this shit or the guy gets arrested it will continue perpetually. Because that is what this is now. I am sure its a game to these guys at this point. Trying to figure out how long they can keep it going and fool people. With little to no threat of any real world consequences for this scam why stop? If you dont have a conscience then there is nothing to answer to for these guys.
They are making the biggest PC game ever made in the mankind history without the support of monsters like EA, Ubisoft, Activision, etc etc etc etc. People support the game, because CiG is building the game they want.

Biggest PC game in the history of mankind?
There are other games that feature larger amounts of star systems, planets, moons, asteroid fields, stations, outposts, NPCs etc than SC will ever dream of having.
The only place SC is different is a higher level of graphical detail and that is coming at a very high cost.
After 7 years what they want to do is becoming more and more irrelevant, the only thing that should really matter is what they have actually done.
The minelayer ship was one of the choices from the 4th wave of ships. Lost the poll against the third starter ship in that 2014 poll. But they wanted to implement all the ships on that list. It is not - as some people claim - a recent invention. See also other ships from that list as stretch goals (around the 60 M$ mark).

Oh I agree. I think it more likely releases as an MVP, than not release at all. The first clue is SQ42: Chapter 1. Guess what "Chapter 1" means in lawyer speak.
They are making the biggest PC game ever made in the mankind history
There is no evidence of that.
After 7 years, they haven't finished even 1 of 100 systems they said would be in game.
I don't know if you are familiar with what "Ship Spinning" is in EVE Online.
But, when it comes to selling these ships with unique roles, that depend on individual mechanics to allow those roles, that don't even exist 7 years later, it will be the biggest ship spinning game in history.
Do you know why there is a chance these game mechanics won't make it into the game? Because they still haven't finished the core engine/networking yet.
They don't know what they are capable of doing after the engine and networking is finished. They are selling dreams. No documentation, no working tech demos of these ship specific game mechanics, just dreams.
Will the release something? I think they will release something. But, there's a good chance it will be a watered-down Minimum Viable Product.

Mine Destroyer Tanks go on sale next month for $1000. Act now! Supplies are going fast!
A space game so irrelevant that even in alpha beats all the other games in twitch viewership and people can't stop talking about it
It's simple the most successful crowdfunding campaign ever and the most ambitious video-game ever attempted!
Only in Star Citizen: So irrelevant that even in alpha has a considerable twitch following surpassing most games of it's genre despite being the most demanding game to run, still in alpha and players progress is wiped every 3 months minimum lol
If that's true, then why do you have to bump your own threads every time they fall off the 1st page of the forums?
No need - YOU are doing a good job in that respect ;-)
I thank you for keeping Star Citizen in discussion.
Have fun
PS:
I will grab that ship with in game money later after launch day. Like in E:D and other games, i will try to have as many different ships as feasible, bought with in game money. Maybe not the rare EVE Online variants of ships (e.g. tournament winner ships) that cost billions of ISK ;-)

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'
