While I know the consensus here is no, I wish there were more actual MMO's with a mobile version that played along the real game in the same server. There is currently Villagers and Heroes, and Albion but I can't think of anything other than those, that aren't just a mobile MMO that is there to auto play and be P2W.
If they ever think about porting it to other platforms i hope it's consoles and not mobile. I'd buy GW2 all over again on Playstation 5. Otherwise, it's fine on PC.

Game developers shouldn't make games specifically because they make them money. That is just absurd. Game developers normally want to make games they themselves want to play. It is absurd to try to cater to a specific style of game just because it makes more money in the same way it is absurd to put in tons of monetization just because it makes money. Look at the last CoD game, Black Ops...4? I believe that is what it was. Anyways, they ruined the design of that game to make more money...and it worked. People spent more money on it and it did quite well for a few months as a result (topping some financial charts I believe) but if you ask anyone who actually likes those games they would say it was awful after all the monetization changes.
Sure, the game made more money, but it turned to crap. Look at WoW retail vs Classic. Most people would probably tell you that they prefer Classic and there are many more (potentially millions) more people playing Classic then Retail ATM. The sad thing is, the quarter BFA launched (Possibly the most poorly received expansion to date) they made more money then they did from WoW classic in the quarter it released. (During this period they had less subs then WoW classic does right now as well) The reason? Overly monetized garbage. No it wasn't pay 2 win, but they did monetize MUCH more in that period then they have in the past.
You know, it's funny all the obvious desperation in everyone's posts. You all know that mobile would make far more money, and so from a business perspective it makes the most sense.
Given that, you guys DO realize that this is not a fad...this is the future right? This will become MORE common, not LESS.
With that said, there's no reason they couldn't do both....just don't expect to be the priority.
I would hope the staff writers of this site want better quality as the future for gaming, not better revenue. And it is not as if increasing the quality of any PC or console game will not lead to more revenue. If you think this sounds like desperation, well actually its anger. We have seen gaming bow to market forces for decades and quality apart from graphics take a hit. So it is hardly a surprise players are pissed off.
Going to have to stop visiting this site if it's talking about turning real games into mobile, mobile games aren't games. Love reading most articles from here but wish I could opt out of anything mobile related showing up in my feed as they dont quality as real games.

why the hell I would want to play in a small screen with half would be covered by my hands?
no serious I spend on a nice chair, some nice headset, a good big screen, listen music, talk in discord/ts/ventrilo, play games, work.
so why the hell you belive I want to spend my time on my cellphone?
if I wanted a portable game I would go for a DS or switch, my cellphone is not a gaming device, get this on your damn heads
Because sometimes you might be away from home, waiting on something or someone, and in the mood to play a video game.
Because carrying just a cell phone makes more sense than carrying both a cell phone and a Switch.

I just don't see the fun of playing a MMO on a phone with a 3-4" screen...I watched a teen the other day playing a game on his phone and he literally held it 3" from his face while playing.
The bigger issue is touch controls.
Mobile phones are not suited for anything in real time.
I disagree; I've done quite well in my Newtonian-physics, twitch-based MMORPG of choice on mobile. It works OK.

Most phone screens these days are 5" or more, and they are measured corner to corner.

Vendetta Online: originally a PC/Mac/Linux MMORPG which debuted in 2002, and then seamlessly cross-platform with mobile since... late 2010?

Believe me, I know this community very well, and I know how the article would be taken here. I would gently nudge the "never mobile" players back to the article to give it a good read again.
Guild Wars 2's profits have been sliding for a long time. Mobile games aren't just an infusion of revenue, but they could be the entire studios lifeline to keep PC titles with sluggish revenue available to play.
Many of you hate the idea that mobile MMOs are becoming more prevalent, but the writing has been on the wall for a while now. I get it. However, even free to play and buy to play games have to make money, and when they don't... they disappear.
I would rather see a mobile version of Guild Wars hit the market and bolster revenue than see all guild wars games disappear, or stop their update cycles indefinitely.

NCsoft's 2 mobile MMOs make more than twice all of their PC MMOs combined.
So, no, people very much do want mobile versions of MMOs
I'm surprised that a mobile version of GW2 hasn't already happened considering it's circling the toilet.
They couldn't even partner with Firehouse Subs?
Because Rytlock for Smash Bros.
I dont play mobile games, so it doesnt matter, but if there were no pc games, then id play console, if no console, then id stop playing video games
You can see my sci-fi/WW2 book recommendations.
Wtf man, come on this is the equivalent of going into a reddit subforum just to troll
stoped readding after that, sure, you're right on deleting your acc.
