Saga of Lucimia creator Tim "Renfail" Anderson has stepped away from the creation of the MMORPG that bears the IP he created, according to a post on the developer's Patreon.

No wonder he left... saga of nothing and still not released? maybe time just to call it quits...
Shouldn't there be a rule that you have to finish one crowdfunded project before you abandon it to go raise money for another?
You would think so, but look at CoE.....they pretty much ended up using crowd-funding to do a side project, while swearing they're still working on the game......At the end of the day, there's a reason why these guys rely on the public instead of getting proper backers and the age old excuse of "We want to make a game our way and not dictated to us by publishers" its getting a little thin. At the heart of all of this, its about avoiding accountability. lol kind of reminds me of when the lead guy on Anthem left but swore it was in good hands.....now here we are.
Why? Potential contributors should be researching projects and those involved before any money changes hands and thus be aware of such conduct. They can then choose for themselves if they want to go ahead with their contribution or back away.
Adults shouldn't need baby sitting through regulation.

Story's already touched a nerve, Tim's updated his Patreon page today with this:
"Updated to add after the MMORPG.com article went live on March 10th, 2021: I'd like to point out, for the record, the rumor going around that we "abandoned" the project is unfounded, and absoutely not true.
While we can't go into details at present, this Patreon post says simply says we are "no longer involved" in the development of the MMORPG.
Wording is important. When we can share the full details, we will, but until then it's important folks not jump to any conclusions or make any assumptions without knowing the facts."
Love the bit about how "wording is important." Guess he never learned the lack of words can speak volumes.
No matter what he says, appearances can be more important than facts, especially if they are viewed as deceiving.

Funny thing is I didn't even actually see this until after I spoke to Tim and pushed this story live.
Ever think of working in games media? :P Great stuff, Slapshot.
Yeah, but also probably wanting to (6 years getting nowhere will take its toll). I mean, he was the CeO and in control of the company right? So maybe it was not a fight worth taking for him, or maybe he saw himself as a major problem for the project?
Maybe the team or some investor demanded a f2p model to continue the project, which I assume would have been unacceptable for him as lead.
Who knows. We probably have to wait x years for the NDA period to run out.
He seem lto be knowledgable with tech and game design, but lack in public communication skills (too often on the aggressive-defensive side).

I am not sure putting Slapshot in charge of the sites CF MMO articles would be the best idea, the CF studios would be like Hobbits hiding from a Nazgul, though we would find it very entertaining.

You missed the point entirely.
It is not about the NEXT guy giving money it is about letting down those who supported what you were selling. If you are just moving on to the next thing then you are not living up to what you were selling in the first place.
How can you research someone's mind in to the future?Every single studio big or small is going to make their project sound like the best thing since sliced cheese.Personally i just use my own knowledge of game design and understand what is possible and what looks like half assed work.Crowd funding is NOT how you build a game, not even mildly close,it is a way to get free money and that is it.
Chris Robert's for example was pitching a great game for 6 million tops,a couple hundred million later and still no sign of completion but LOT'S and lots of ship building going on.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'
